Talk to coach May about doing a 2 year deal with Floyd Central someday. I'd be excited as hell about that. That would be a good matchup. Especially this year since you guys are loaded.

Your JV team plays SC that week. That is who you play in varsity.

We have played each other probably 4 times the past 10 years in JV, though. One year we played you guys, Roncalli, and obviously Seymour all in JV... that was a pretty cool experience.

I'm talking about Varsity, down the road. Coach Bragg was telling me it's hard to find teams to play out of conference. Teams see that they've played St X, Male, and Elder and think that we are some powerhouse on the level of those teams. Lol. It's wild.

How? I think simply checking the scores of those games would say otherwise.

We only have one non-conference game-- Seymour.

@Bulldog15 I’ve heard from two different sources that Parker Elmore has been ruled ineligible to play this year as a result of the article from The Republic in which it was explicitly stated his transfer was a result of athletic reasons. Is this true?

As of now, he is ineligible.

You would think that. That's why he was confused by that.

He may as well go back to Jennings County. It would be good for the conference. It would make them more competitive than they would be otherwise.

I think that ship has sailed.

The issue would be him trying to explain to his teammates why he bailed on them. Not a good locker room situation. Even in HS.

Scrimmages tonight! Here’s who everyone has.

-Columbus East at Whiteland. After years of scrimmaging Martinsville, East has replaced them with the Warriors.

-Jennings County at Shelbyville. The Panthers now scrimmage the Golden Bears after years of scrimmaging Brownstown Central.

-Brownstown Central at BNL. Yet another change in scrimmage opponents as BNL replaces Mitchell with the Braves.

-Silver Creek at Seymour. No change here.

-Floyd Central at Charlestown. No change.

-Jeffersonville at Madison. The Red Devils replace Bloomington North with the Cubs.

-New Albany at Scottsburg. No change.

They are not going back. The education is waaay different. And he’s really become a part of the team. They enrolled their 1st grader in school at Columbus. He plays on my youngest son’s football team. The IHSAA should be ashamed of themselves. They have the 1 transfer rule on the docket for next year. They started this with open enrollment. Do what’s best for the kids.

It goes to the board of education now. Good luck to JC proving that their education is on par with Columbus North. It’s not even comparable.

I just hate how they are going to mess up a kids life for a year. The parents and Elmore are committed though. Come what may. They are stand up people.

How are we comparing education here? If we’re comparing based on what’s offered then I don’t think it’s as far off (if at all) as you’d think. If we’re comparing based on performance then of course Columbus North is much better. Look at the clientele. It’s not a shock that a school with a much higher percentage of low income students is going to be outperformed.

The truth is, he shouldn't be ineligible. Just let kids go to school and play where they want. I don't care if you drive your kid 50 miles to go to another school, that should be your choice. And it shouldn't affect athletics. Every school would have the same fortunes. You'd lose some kids. And you'd gain some kids. For instance. Maybe a 2A schools best player decides to move to a 5A school. But that same school may also gain a kid from a 6A school that isn't a big player there but would be in 2A? I'm just spitballing. I know not everyone will agree with this. I'm just trying to come up with something that seems reasonable.

I did attend the Floyd/Charlestown scrimmage yesterday. The good things I saw were, I like FCs QB Jack Mull. He's a Jr. Not a running threat but he's accurate throwing the football. The other QB Stone, is a So and has great mobility but has to become more polished throwing it. They have 3 good RBs. Sebastian Robertson who's the banger. And Luke Jacobi who's a Sophomore and is the scat guy. Jacobi Jones who is 220 Lbs and explosive will be a big addition when his 4 game ineligibility ends. He was impressive. Their OL is very good too. Probably avg around 250 Lbs. And their WR core is the best I've seen here. Kaiser, Jr All State, didn't get many reps because they don't need him to. They are at least 6-7 deep at WR. Unfortunately Camden Harritt who caught 2 TD passes yesterday suffered a significant injury. They have a So named Zenel Lawless who reminds me of Johnson from Seymour, who should get some of Harritts targets.

Now the bad. The Defense. Their run defense is, putting mildly, a work in progress. They only return 3 starters on defense and all of them are on the back end. Their DL struggled.  Too many gash plays. I imagine coach Bragg isn't real happy about it. Their LB core has some potential but it may be an adventure in the middle of their DL. Their coverage wasn't bad. There are some good DBs on that roster. But the DL has to get better.

Overall, we look a lot like Seymour the past 2 seasons.

Not a single program is southern Indiana looks at Floyd Central and says that. There isn't a coach worth his salt that makes a statement like that.

It happened. In 2020.

In what specific ways is the education “not comparable” at CN? What are they doing that is vastly superior?

(Apologies in advance for including the quote twice. Lol.)

Since we apparently like facts on here, because opinions aren't allowed, I dug up some info on this situation.

Citing U.S News-Education, who ranks schools based on College Readiness, State Assesment Proficiency, State Assessment Performance, and graduation rate;

Columbus North checks in at # 70. Jennings County checks in at #247.

The other HHC schools.

Floyd Central-#21

New Albany-#75

BNL-#123

Jeffersonville-#166

Seymour-#181

Columbus East-#234

First, my family moved from Seymour to Columbus.  We have 5 kids.  We witnessed first hand how the curriculum is more intense.  My oldest is a high ability learner.  BCSC's advanced curriculum (AC) program is awesome.  Seymour didn't have one at the time. Not sure if JC has one or not.  BCSC has two one at Parkside and the other at Southside.  My other children who are not AC kids were challenged quite a bit more at first.  Once they got used to the difference they started to thrive.

Take a look at NICHE.  JC scores really low on math.  North is higher in every aspect of education.  It just is what it is.

My oldest was challenged because there were kids that were doing trigonometry in the 6th grade.  He's competitive so it made him work harder.  It's not a slam, it's just facts.  Someone has to be first and so on.  Columbus North doesn't rank as high as a Fishers or Carmel but for this area it's number one.

That does not mean that kids can't be successful at other schools.  But for those that want to be challenged more and experience more, North is a better school statistically.

My experience with education is you get out of it what you put into it. My guess is results in the classroom are much more tied to home than whether you go to this special program at that special school. Larger schools by their very nature of being larger have more options to offer, across the board, education, extracurriculars, clubs, etc.

As far as listing in all the magazines, follow the money.
