Irishman Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 I can only imagine what Halas would say while watching the complete shit show going on at Halas Hall during this week, especially with it being Packers Bears week. 🤣 Quote
Irishman Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 "Just the tip" lol Felt like the Bears could have driven for a TD. Green Bay had not stopped them all day. Quote
Irishman Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 8-3 on the season and still in 3rd place. I cannot remember this division being this solid from top to bottom. Solid team effort. I know it was a depleted roster for the 9ers, but what still stood out was the run defense. Quote
Irishman Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Solid offensive performance, but pass rush and pass coverage need work. Quay Walker is a liability when he has a zone to cover. He needs to be just a pass rusher. 3 division games out of the last 5. There is a lot on the line this last month or so. Quote

Irishman Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 One of the most frustrating games this season. Never got much pressure on Goff, and when Hafley called a blitz, it often seemed to be easy to pick up. The run defense was solid, but stupid mistakes and penalties handed Detroit too many chances. What really pissed me off is how coverage in goal line defense so easily gave up inside leverage for wide open TD throws, especially knowing there is no help inside or underneath because the LB’s were blitzing. The tougher throw is to the outside, and they never forced that. It seemed like they overplayed receivers to the outside. A reversal of the other losses this season where the defense played well enough to win but the offense had made the mistakes. Quote
Irishman Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 That was brutal. LaFleur and Hafley come in with the same game plan they had for the first game this year against the Vikings. It took a late comeback then just to make it a game, so I am not sure why they think they could do the same. While they make the playoffs, they are just 3-5 against teams either in the playoffs, or still in the hunt. So, my overreaction Monday comment is Matt LafLeur is overrated as a head coach. The downside is he wins enough games to keep the job at least 2 more years. And once again, gameplan screws them. A 4th and short, instead of a FG, they come up short. Annnnnnnnd, they won the toss and took the ball to start the game. So, Minnesota had two scoring drives for 10 points. Quote

It’s a McAfee Sunday take. lol 1 Quote
Irishman Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Maybe LaFleur can learn something about game management. I am not a fan of taking the ball when winning the coin toss. I don't know how often it works out, but it seems the teams that receive to start the 2nd half often end the 1st half with the ball. It's burned Green Bay a few times where the opponent has scored with both possessions. The Vikings did it last Sunday, and the Lions were able to do as well. The Vikings were able to put 14 points on the board. The Lions got 10. The Rams got 10 as well earlier in the season. Look at the Irish last night; kick a FG with little to no time for Georgia to do anything, get a turnover and a TD. They start the 2nd half with the ball, and actually score on the return. 54 seconds of time ran off the clock, but it changed the game completely. Quote
Sparty Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Hoping the Packers can get “clean” (HC’s words for this week) and put it together for the playoffs. Hope Watson isn’t injured after the non contact play. Classy play by Johnson to insure Watson was protected when he went down. Playoffs are always better when the 2 best run franchises (GB and Pittsburgh) are clicking on all cylinders. ***Forgot Love’s elbow injury. Hope that it was just the “funny bone” as DJ said on the game. Edited January 5 by Sparty 1 Quote

Irishman Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Mistake filled game, but the Bears turnovers have been killers. But Green Bay's mistakes loom larger as they give that one away. Not that the Packers make a deep run in the playoffs anyway. But this is not a good sign. Craziest thing is the Packers make the playoffs easily, but only win 1 divisional game. Quote
Irishman Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 This game only adds to my doubts about LaFleur. In the end, there was nothing to gain as far as playoffs go, and if you just look at the overall record each season, he is likely here for a while. About the only thing you could hope for is if a guy like Jerry Jones offers a boatload of money to move and he takes it. But his game to game management leaves a lot to be desired. In the long run, I ask how many games has the team won that they should not have with him as the head coach? Without researching this season and previous seasons, I would guess less than 5? Then…..how many games were lost that you should have won? Again without looking, I would guess at least 10, with today being the latest. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted January 6 Posted January 6 A blocked FG in Chicago away from a Sweep. That cannot make you all feel good Quote

Irishman Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 What a shit game to watch. From the very beginning, it was frustrating. How all those fucking clowns on TV could say there was no clear possession on the fumble of the opening kickoff is beyond me.....and then to have the play stand? It was so clear on the overhead view that Nixon had the ball on his bac; 2 arms around it while a Philly player had one hand reaching for it. Put Green Bay behind the 8 ball from the start. Too many offensive mistakes. Penalties hurt. Odd the one was called for the push on Barkley as he was out of bounds. No call on Nixon being torpedoed at the knees by the Philly punter when he was clearly out of bounds. And then no interference call on the last interception? Dumbass Brady said there was no call because it was underthrown. I was never a Brady fan when he played, and his bias shows in the booth. Even he admitted at the end he would not have shown as much class as Barkley did by sliding at the end. And injuries......holy shit. Over all, the defense played well. They really contained an explosive offense. But the team was out of sync all day. When the defense played well, the offense could not get going. Once the offense started going, the defense could not get a stop. Quote
