I think a number of NCAA sports are in jeopardy....as funds will be used for the revenue generating sports. This is a shame as this is significant development ground for current and future Olympians.

Coach Brian Burkart (Mishawaka Marian, Michigan City Elston, Michigan City, Knox, and South Bend Adams) passed away Saturday morning, June 21. Coach Burky was always a character, and lord knows the man was a TALKER. He’ll be missed terribly by his family. He loved being a part of the IHSAA and IFCA coaching community. Our family is still working on arrangements, but we’ll definitely have some kind of a remembrance ceremony in the coming weeks.

That's not an opinion, that's a fact. I think kids will always move from district to district based on that alone. I just read a good article regarding the PAL and Metro trending down while school leagues forming at 1st grade are trending up. Loyalty to a program might be a little stronger when you start in that school's system in the 1st grade. PAL and Metro are more of a free for all when kids graduate from those programs. So yes, that system might work somewhat. Someone from Indy might be able to better answer that question, this type of system isn't new to programs down there.

I'm not close to the program being a South fan, but usually rumors start leaking about who is being considered, and I have heard absolutely nothing on the North hire hunt. The PM and North hires need to be done as soon as possible considering the lateness in the job openings. North has their defensive line coach, Brad Engel, running their summer program as the interim head coach, and who knows, maybe they hand him the job full-time.

I worked with Coach Burkart at Marian. He was a good and loyal asst. coach. He was an even better man. RIP

I don't know if I would call it disrespect, maybe just underachievers. Seems they usually have talent everywhere but just can't get that elusive state title. Just like you say they are loaded this year, so would you expect a title. if they flame out again, why?? I've seen them play a few times and they just seem to unravel when the game gets tight. I have nothing against the school or program, always enjoyed their matchups vs Snider and other top schools in area over the years. One of these years they should get their state title.
