I guess “relevancy” is in the eye of the beholder. If you say Notre Dame is irrelevant in the college football world over and over, maybe it will come true. But certainly not in our lifetime. The program has been valued at $1.85 billion, 4th among FBS schools in the last 11 seasons, the Irish rank 5th in games won, trailing only Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson & Georgia Depending on the methodology, ND ranks as high as #2 or as low as #4 in football specific revenue annually. Notre Dame has been in the top 3 nationally in Graduation Success Rate for more than two decades, most recently tying for first with Northwestern, graduating 99% of its players. You can count on the fingers of one hand the football programs more relevant - by any reasonable metric - than Notre Dame, and have a finger or two left over.4 points

why are we comparing Notre dame to Miami/Bama/Oklahoma/Osu etc. all teams that deserve to be there when we have direct evidence of a team that shouldn't even be considered Tulane has lost a game by 5 touchdowns this year to the team they are playing in the playoffs. my problem is not with ND being excluded, though I believe that to be an absolute joke. my problem is that teams with no business being included are there at ND (and Byu's) expense2 points

The grass isn't always greener somewhere else. I think Cignetti's staff has a tremendous amount of respect for him and it's hard to see them anywhere else when they're being compensated seven figures. This is great, I love to see this.2 points

If "sports" is ever divorced from the schools...the kids that need sports the most, will have very little access to it.2 points

Read that Fernando finished first in every region. Wasn’t close. Way to go Fernando!! Wonder if accurate??1 point

Had a hard time making out what Dick Vitale was saying, but I think he suggested disappointment in the committee with how they led Notre Dame on for weeks before pulling the rug out from them. A pretty cruel joke if you ask me. Charles Barkley dubbed Notre Dame as potentially the third best team in the country behind Indiana and Ohio State. Said the head to head back in August against Miami shouldn't have even been a factor. Just goes to show that Irish fans aren't alone in their thinking.1 point

Michigan public admission that their athletic program is broken and has been broken for years. Now, wait for Temp to say there is no proof of past cheating even after they have hired a law firm to check it out… Just can’t make this crap up… And a Michigan fan on this board claims Harbaugh didn’t cheat…1 point

The biggest downside of Notre Dame’s independence for about the last 15 years had been that the value of the NBC deal was dwarfed by the Big Ten media payouts. Now the value is comparable, and the only real financial upside is if ND can make a run in the playoff. ND is on tv regardless, CBS and ESPN want the eyeballs when they’re on the road, and I’m not even sure there’s an appreciable recruiting advantage considering the amount of times big programs are on tv.1 point

I agree with that, and think upcoming schedules are tougher. I also have issues with how NBC seems to be treating them lately. Putting home games on the Peacock app did not help ratings at all.1 point

See...your bias is really showing now. If you actually think that is something ND would settle for, then you are even far more biased than what you have shown so far. And, PLENTY of people actually do care; and no, it is not revolving around a single team. The ACC for example had a 23% sellout rate in games not involving ND. Over 90% of the games ND is involved in are sellouts.1 point

Who cares? They can join the MAC and play for the G5 national championship every year for all anyone is concerned. This idea that college football needs to revolve around a single team that should be given preferential treatment so they can pretend it’s still 1972 is ridiculous.1 point

or instead of explaining how the system works for the 900th time while pretending your super smart and nobody else can understand it we could instead push for a better system, one where the best teams play for the national championship, instead of giving participation awards to random teams. does ISU get to play for the national championship next year?1 point

100% agree!!! Best 12 teams should make it, if JMU or Tulane keeps it within 21 points it will be a shocker1 point

Yet Notre Dame has their victories vacated because a couple of smart kids who are there for an actual education gets caught cheating. Riddle that. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if @Komets2727 favorite teams won a title or not. He has nothing to do with the programs he "roots" for.1 point

not a single one of you thinks that Tulane would put up a fighting chance against ND. the difference between us is that even if ND was in, over say Miami, I would complain that a (12 team) tournament should have the best 12 teams playing or it is fraudulent. were talking about crowning a national champion here. at the very minimum the best teams should be playing for it. literally take ND out of the picture, the next 10 teams would be favored over tulane1 point

While I don’t disagree with what you ate saying, she was fired which is the reason the whole thing came to light now. He was her boss and because of that, she has all the control. No chance anything further can happen to her. Her reputation will suffer some, but that is it.1 point

One guy going ape$hit and two consensual adults engaging in a workplace relationship is a bigger $hit show than decades of pedophilia being covered up by hundreds of people? Tell me more.1 point

No way Michigan gets Cignetti. If Kelly goes to Michigan, as I have previously stated, that would be a disaster for the Big Blue. Dude is an ass clown🤡. My guess is that Michigan goes big name hunting, but not sure they are going to wait a month to hire a coach1 point

@Rodney Was thinking of adding seven or eight more Notre Dame banners to my signature. Thoughts?1 point
