  1. I do think we see Indiana being a basketball state during tournament time. Sectionals/regionals/semistates are generally packed and have some pretty incredible atmospheres.
  2. How do the three small schools (Bremen, John Glenn, and Jimtown) compete in other sports besides football?
  3. Same man, same. Had the exact same reaction when I saw the salaries at LN and LC. Not a huge return on investment it appears.
  4. In my opinion, absolutely, at least in Indianapolis. I can't speak on Ft. Wayne, The Region, or Evansville, but most of the Catholic schools in Indianapolis are made up of legacy families, stretching back 2-3 generations.

  6. Huh? P/P's have more of a community feel than most public schools while also bringing huge crowds to sporting events.
  7. With BD being only a mile away, do they lose many kids to CC? Or is it a mixture of Hendricks County kids and a few Pike/BD kids?
  8. Zero? It could have prolonged the inevitable, sure, but when you're a 28+ underdog, give your kids life and go for it!
  9. As will I. Sorry their F&R %s are too low for you @temptation
  10. Does #35 for Roncalli (Huebler) remind anyone else of Cathedral's RB from the 2010s, Gino Gillum? They run identical especially with being pretty small in stature.
  11. Evil Czech Brewery is a good one in Mishawaka and Crooked Ewe Brewery in South Bend is delicious too. Both less than 10 minutes away to Marian.
  12. Don't lecture about enrollment size or capping numbers, when MV has several transfers (some from HHC schools), playing key positions for the Marauders. Roncalli must not be doing a great job capping enrollment numbers and picking and choosing their students, when they have 1 state championship (2016) in the last 15 years.
  13. With the fly offense, it's all about angles and quick get-offs from the offensive line. For their small size, they are super physical, but it won't be enough against the Irish. I say 42-14 Cathedral.
  14. Ben Davis, Warren, Center Grove, all seem like solid options with massive seat capacity, if they decide to go away from LOS.
  15. Carmel by 2 TDs or more. Both teams are trending in opposite directions. Carmel has been reeling off big wins in the latter part of the season, while Brownsburg is just surviving and holding on. Allowing a 300 yd performance to a freshman QB, albeit against Elite WRs for Avon, is very troublesome for Brownsburg. Easters was 4-9 with two picks against a less than stellar Avon defense. Carmel will ground and pound with White and Osborne, taking their chances in the passing game.
  16. 6A: With only 32 teams, and an overwhelming favorite in CG, it's hard to find a dark-horse contender out of the South part of the bracket. Carmel & LN are the only two teams that come to mind to challenge CG in the South. In the North, it's going to be fascinating to see what shakes out...Can Homestead come out of a brutal sectional and then beat Westfield in Regionals? Can Laf Jeff, with an awful schedule, pull a shocker against a loaded Merrillville squad and then defeat presumably Elkhart in Regionals? Loads of intrigue in 6A North for the first time in a while! 5A: Again, with only 32 teams, and overwhelming favorite in Cathedral, not much to say out of 5A South. In 5a North, Dwenger seems to be the favorite out of the North, but having to play North and Northrop for the second time may present some problems (hard to beat teams twice!) But does Valpo (only played 5 games) have a very fresh roster ready to do some damage? Zionsville plays a gauntlet of a schedule and has elite playmakers on the offensive side of the ball...They won a 6A sectional and battled with BD in Regionals last year. 4A: 4A South will be a doozy this year, with Mt. Vernon, Roncalli, Mooresville, East Central, and Evansville Central looking to represent the South at LOS. However, there's a few teams that could make a surprise run in Jasper, Evansville Memorial, and Silver Creek. I'm not familiar with Silver Creek, could they beat East Central in the first round? 4A North has favorites in Hobart and Lowell (same sectional), Leo, Northridge, and East Noble (same sectional), and Delta. Other those aforementioned teams, who can make a run to LOS out of the North? 3A: 3A North has the presumed favorite in Chatard, drawing a rematch with a successful Marian program in semi-state (undefeated and beat Penn). Can West Laf or Brebeuf stun Chatard in sectionals? 3A South looks to be just as competitive as 4A South this year....Sectional 29 has 6/8 teams with winning records with an undefeated Danville team as the favorite to come out of the sectional. Does Tri-West, Indian Creek, or Ritter play spoiler? Vincennes Lincoln is as battle-tested as any 3A school, playing in the SIAC. Lawrenceburg is sitting dangerous at 7-1 while Sectional 32 is absolutely stacked (6/8 w/a winning record and Heritage Hills who's been undermanned throughout the year). 1A and 2A: Not very familiar with these two classes at all.. Predictions: 6A: CG vs Westfield 5A: Cathedral vs Dwenger 4A: Roncalli vs Lowell 3A: Chatard vs Southridge 2A: Andrean vs Heritage Christian 1A: South Adams vs Covenant Christian My Darkhorses: 6A: Homestead, BD, and Laf. Jeff 5A: Zionsville and Whiteland 4A: Jasper and Northridge 3A: Ft. Wayne Concordia, Norwell, and Tri-West 2A: Ren. Central, Centerville, Tell City, and Fairfield. 1A: South Putnam and Southwood What do y'all think?
  17. I'll take Cathedral 21-17. ST TD by Cathedral is the difference.
  18. I know it's the Big 4 in the MIC for a reason (BD, CG, Carmel, and WC), but it's fascinating to see that last year was the FIRST year someone other than those four won the conference, with NC sharing it with BD, Carmel, and Warren. Can NC keep it sustained for the next 5-10 years?
  19. When was the last time two nationally ranked teams from Indiana both played each other in the regular-season? I'm hard-pressed to think of a match-up that even closely resembles this one.
  20. Friday, Oct. 16 Ben Davis at North Central ©, 7 pm Cathedral at Center Grove, 7 pm Lawrence Central at Carmel ©, 7 pm Lawrence North at Pike ©, 7 pm W-L Pts OP W-L Pts OP Streak Center Grove 7-0 295 39 8- 0 351 53 Won 8 Carmel 5-1 188 157 6- 2 247 207 Won 5 North Central 4-2 119 148 6- 2 195 203 Won 2 Lawrence North 3-3 157 149 5- 3 289 197 Lost 1 Ben Davis 3-3 156 131 3- 5 176 223 Won 1 Warren Central 2-5 110 150 2- 5 110 150 Lost 2 Pike 1-5 171 206 3- 5 225 244 Lost 3 Lawrence Central 0-6 42 258 0- 8 70 325 Lost 10 An intriguing set of games this week (excluding LC & Carmel). Does CG get it done against an equally elite Cathedral team in the Indiana HS game of the year? Can Pike finally eek out a close win, after some heart-breaking losses? Does BD finally get a W against someone other than the bottom three in the conference? CG and Carmel have distanced themselves as the top two teams in the MIC, with a cluster of teams ranked from 3-7 in the conference (LN, NC, BD, Warren, and Pike), that could beat each other on any Friday night. BD vs NC (Giants -3)---- NC's margin of their games (Ws and Ls) mirror what BD's has looked like as well and think BD finally puts together their best game of the season, looking forward to an easy run to Regionals. Cathedral vs CG (Cathedral -1.5)----Cathedral's schedule gives them an edge in this game and cements themselves as a top 10 team in the nation. LC vs Carmel (Carmel -35) LC was without their starting QB against BD and if that trend continues, running clock to start halftime against the Greyhounds. Pike vs LN (LN -5)---Pike's been in several close losses this year (29-27 against WC, 45-44 against Carmel, and 27-21 against NC), and think they have the potential to pull an upset against LN's explosive offense.
  21. I'm with you on that one...but don't sleep on Pike or Avon. Pike took Carmel to 2 OTs just a few weeks ago and Avon is capable of putting up lots of points with Hesson and his trio of WRs. I'm also going to pick Warren, especially if they're able to play LC and then the winner of NC vs LN.
  22. SECTIONAL 5 Sect Class Overall Brownsburg 1- 0 4- 1 6- 1 Carmel 1- 0 4- 1 5- 2 Avon 0- 1 3- 4 3- 4 Pike 0- 1 2- 4 3- 4 SECTIONAL 7 Sect Class Overall North Central (Indianapolis) 3- 0 5- 2 5- 2 Lawrence North 2- 1 4- 2 5- 2 Warren Central 1- 2 2- 4 2- 4 Lawrence Central 0- 3 0- 7 0- 7 In 6A, these are the two most intriguing sectionals to me. Sectional 5, it seems like really any of these 4 teams have a shot at winning it. We all thought the winner of Avon Bburg last year would win the sectional, but Zionsville pulled off one of the biggest tournament upsets in recent years and won the sectional. Sectional 7, I really think it's a 3-man race between NC, LN, and WC. Even with all the good vibes around the LN program, they still lost to NC 28-21 this season and have a questionable defense. Warren is Warren until proven otherwise, even with a 2-4 record.
