This is just here in Indiana: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2026/08/20/impd-officer-suspended-over-flock-camera-misuse-what-we-know-indianapolis-alpr-misconduct-plate/91303397007/ While it is heartening to see more and more municipalities cancel their contracts with Flock or decline to use ALPR's altogether, the proverbial Pandora's box has already been opened. And no amount of "internal controls" by law enforcement agencies will close it. It will ultimately be like the fox guarding the hen house, and the public is the hens.

South Newton High School announces move to 8-man football the upcoming season: https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/south-newton-set-play-8-160042214.html It's clear that traditional 11-man football is slowly dying in Indiana's rural areas, growth in that area is neutral at best. And frankly a watered down 8-man version of the sport isn't the long term answer. Co-ops are.

A substantial amount of my earnings gets "donated" to the Community Schools of Frankfort every year. Let their athletic department support itself. -

The Illinois schools that I am familiar with that co-op for football are all very small, even by Indiana high school standards. We are talking grades 9-12 enrollments of less than 100 students for each school. Are there currently any Indiana high schools with enrollments that small that field a tackle football team? Not to my knowledge.

Wabash Apaches moving to a hybrid 8-man and 11-man schedule for 2026: https://statelinesportsnetwork.net/2026/08/14/wabash-indiana-hs-to-play-both-8-man-and-11-man-football-in-2026/ Weird, dropping all your non-county and conference foes, except for one, and replacing them with 8-man games. So I guess this makes them ineligible for the IHSAA tournament?

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/2026/08/13/chicago-bears-update-new-stadium-plans-hammond-arlington-heights--live/91288540007/ Come on Illinois legislature, make the citizens you represent pay for this boondoggle and not Hoosiers.

Agreed. And I find the ad system here on the GID especially obnoxious. It's well worth the $ I give every year to get rid of them. -
8-man is just football-lite. The real solutions are: 1. Co-op programs. 2. School consolidations.

Interesting story about a lawsuit filed by the University of Indianapolis against Indiana University: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/education/2026/08/11/indiana-university-sued-for-using-iu-indy-by-university-of-indianapolis/91263395007/ I have a family member who is a UIndy grad. Go Greyhounds, beat IU!
