Fresh off their symbolic background check win, with the passage of HR8, I find it very interesting that an amendment to the bill that would require FFL’s to report illegal aliens to ICE that failed a NICS check. The amendment was voted down on a partly line vote with several D defectors. Illegal aliens are, with a few exceptions, prohibited possessors. It begs the question, why? André Carson and Pete Visclosky, Indiana’s on D house members both voted nay.

I'm hanging my hat on 9.9.1 in the case book. A is trailing by five points near the end of the fourth period and has no time-outs left when the play ends on B's 3. The referee does not feel there is any illegal delay in unpiling and that time will definitely expire before the ball is ready and A gets in position to snap. Quarterback A1 reaches into the pile of players and grabs the ball. He then throws the ball to midfield. RULING: Even if the referee imposes a 15-yard penalty for an unsportsmanlike act, A has accomplished its goal – the clock is stopped and it can get in position and be ready to run a play even though the clock will start on the ready-for-play signal. This situation illustrates when it is appropriate for the referee to invoke the unfair-act rule and handle the situation in any way that the referee feels is equitable. In this specific situation the referee should wind the clock and end the game without giving A an opportunity to put the ball in play. COMMENT: The rule also gives the referee authority to take appropriate action whenever someone not subject to the rules hinders play. (3-4-6)

Presumably Mishawaka will replace Memorial in the NLC. Elkhart Central will continue as Elkhart in the NIC. -
He was enrolled, he was taking class, via elearning, the school was the one seeking the waiver. Cox clearly states it's the IHSAA's position that their protocol is to grant the waivers if the school requests it, I really don't see how it's the IHSAA's fault. It's not the IHSAA's place to discipline member schools' athletes. We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Clock should start on the RFP with a 25 second play clock. The R has the authority to run the clock out if in his opinion the stoppage was due to B's attempt to illegally conserve time. Perhaps wind the game clock and blow the RFP somewhere below 25 on the game clock. Regardless of your decision, someone is not going to be happy with you.

We need to do a better Job...

We live in a rural area. My kids drove a considerable amount before they were 16, with me. I felt it was important to impart wisdom I had gained from driving for years, and not just relegate them to standard driver's ed. I grew up the same way, drove box trucks, small trailers, large trailers, etc. from the time I was probably 11-12 years old. The one thing I always tried to impart on them was focus. If you make a mistake on your homework, you get a lower grade, if you make a mistake on the athletic field, you get a seat on the bench, no big deal, but if you make a mistake on the road, it may cost you your life. That's a big price to pay. I really tried to discourage texting and driving. And the were told under no uncertain terms, drinking and driving would be the end of their driving career. -
It should be pointed out, yes I have been on the GID that long.

I have been told by administration at Memorial, single school begins 21-22 school year. It's still two years away. -
Anyone thought of following a horde of walkers?

File under the category "you can't make this $hit up". This looks like a situation tailor made for David Thorne. -
It's akin to hitting the lottery, but they're out there!

@NPFB UC has offered 3 2022's. https://247sports.com/college/cincinnati/Season/2022-Football/Offers/ It has been my experience that mid-majors will make offers early when they think they've found that diamond, and by making early offers, the get that star that the big guys waited on. Unfortunately as I stated early, verbal commitments don't mean jack squat, and when the big guys come knocking.....see year later, I want to play on TV on Saturday night, not Thursday night.

Again it's been a while since I've been involved, but if you're physically on campus, you're fair game. Aside from the obvious dead periods. Also keep in mind, these offers to underclassmen and "verbal" commitments mean absolutely jack squat. Until you sign on the dotted line, which can't happen until you're a senior.
