  1. Scottsburg really struggled early on. A good class came thru and Coach Mullins seems to be building on that excitement. I question the want at many of the schools being mentioned. Pekin had a superintendent from Brownstown that really pushed the issue and I have to wonder if not prematurely. Scott County, eastern Washington County, small Clark County schools seem to take their basketball pretty serious. I suspect it will be an uphill battle for a program to gain any traction. A lot of it is having administrators on board, I’m not sure that’s the case at many of these smaller schools. Football is expensive and labor intensive to get started. Ask Trinity Lutheran they’re doing it now for the third time.
  2. Makes no difference to me I was just curious. In Football we frequent hear the justification for rule changes is to bring our game more in line with NCAA rules, why don’t we just okay by NCAA rules then?
  3. I met the AD at Clarksville this spring and got to talk to him a little bit. I like him, I think he has a plan and some support. Best of luck to the Generals.
  4. Also of note most scheduling software just automatically fills in the corresponding date for next year if you don’t manually intervene. Seymour softball still plays Clarksville on a Saturday at 2:00 which is a really odd time for a HS SB game. The reason why is in 2011 I had to move the game back because I had like five starters taking the ACT that morning. So 12 years later it’s still the same.
  5. My guess is conference games are long term contracts, thus in an AD’s mind set in stone. The only real changes you ever see are with conference changes. Why does CN/CE always play week 2? You know what finding football opponents is like, and jiving up who needs a home game, and the myriad of other factors. The MSC isn’t the same way?
  6. I think the fastest game we ever worked was a first round sectional game Shelbyville at South Dearborn. SD scored on the last play of the first half and missed the PAT. Game ended 6-0. We had beer sitting in front of us at the restaurant at 8:45 with a 7:00 start.
  7. Seymour played them in the sectional championship in 99, one of the tougher games they had in the tournament until they got to Cathedral of course. I bet Chris Rose still has nightmares about Otis Shannon lol.
  8. He had a handful of solid seasons when he was there. I have a picture out of the CJ of him ripping me during a TO at Charlestown in a tournament game. Let’s just say we’ve never exchanged Christmas cards. On the bright side of things not sure he has quite the hole to dig out of that he had in Shelbyville.
  9. Corydon is an interesting school. They have a tradition of producing some athletes. Their track team historically ranks among the best in the MSC. They also were relatively flush with cash as opposed to their county rival. Boat money seems to have leveled the playing field a little bit. I just don’t see SC or Charlestown moving to a big school conference in the near term.
  10. South Park covered it pretty well when Strong Woman got rolled by the Macho Man ohhh yea. PC Principal was left not knowing what to do.
  11. Ehh, not really any of that. Just reached a point in my life where other people’s children are no longer a priority for me. I did some lower level games last year and had fun so I’m going to keep my license and have some lower level stuff scheduled. Friday nights just weren’t fun anymore.
  12. I’m talking about other schools. Do you think any of the MIC schools cared about the TH schools when they were booted from the MIC. Do you think Madison was concerned about any of the HHC schools when they left? But I do think you’re demonstrating my point perfectly the HHC is an anomaly in that it’s more geographical than financial or competitive driven. But ultimately money don’t speak it swears.
  13. Much like the Terre Haute schools I don’t think anyone really cares. I guess time will tell, I’m completely at peace with it and all games have been returned.
  14. I’m not so arrogant to think that anyone cares but I have retired from Friday nights, and have accepted a volunteer position for game nights at Seymour. So I will see more HHC Football than I’ve ever seen.
  15. We’ve all heard for years how Charlestown and/or SC we’re going to outgrow the MSC. Frankly having talked to coaches and administrators alike I don’t see either happening in the near term. @FkfootballAs far as the river schools I don’t think the rest of them care what the river schools will do. FC usually travels decent but the other two suck at the gate. That and travel are the issues, not that it’s a real issue but they are the longest trip for most in the conference.
  16. Good points but I think in the HHC’s situation it’s much more geographically centered. If East, BNL, Seymour, JC, and Madison could have found a sixth it would have changed years ago.
  17. Jennings County would routinely send teams to 2-3 different wrestling tournaments on any given Saturday when Jones was there. I know JC Football catches some grief in here, but the wrestling program was pretty impressive under Jones.
  18. As I recall this was a right of passage for incoming freshmen when I was in HS. I never participated myself, but I heard stories.
  19. I misunderstood, I thought he meant your JV playing other varsity. Playing your own JV….nah one intra-squad scrimmage a year is more than plenty.
  20. Not that I’m aware of, we did it a few times in Softball when I coached. I just did it to try and get the JV more games. Not sure you want to do something like that in Football with only nine games.
  21. Im just worried about the Softball coach, Katie is a sweetheart.
  22. I could give two shits about any of this. You’ll have to excuse my slip of the keyboard. Sure allow kids and idiot parents to do whatever they fancy.
  23. Traditionally speaking if I as a parent didn’t perform my duties per government standards, doesn’t the government take my children from me? Transvestites commit suicide at a rate somewhere around 35% higher than their cis friends. Can we at least agree there is some degree of mental illness involved in the equation?
