  1. Yea, about the toker thang…..there have been some amazing advancements in edibles.
  2. I prefer the original. Honestly my brother got The Joker for Christmas back in the day and wore it out, I haven’t been able to stand Steve Miller Band since.
  3. It’s what youth sports have turned into. No one is more competitive than I am, I want to win. That being said when I coached we talked a LOT about perspective. Win, lose, or draw, the sun will come up tomorrow. Their people dying in a war in Ukraine, natural disasters all over the world, people losing their lives, their homes, etc., and we get to play a game for fun. Perspective! Oh and rest assured the kid and the parents involved…..ain’t gettin no scholarship!
  4. One of the benefits of all the neck work back in the day between Football and Wrestling did have a positive impact, very difficult to be strangled by hand.
  5. This is one area that has changed since our playing days.
  6. Worked a scrimmage last week at JC, the recurring theme I heard from several coaches is we’ll be OK if no one gets hurt.
  7. I’m not telling anyone not to use them, if you think they help you/your program by all means use them.
  8. Along the lines of your perception is everything comment, is FC or Seymour, at the the time either have hired a HC in the last 20 years been that good of a job? Neither school had really challenged East for the conference, both schools smallish schools in a big pond, particularly when there were just five classes. Granted, perceptions and things have changed a little since Moore and Bragg were hired. Some other random thoughts: I don’t believe jobs attract the applicants they used to. When a position opens up, at least in the AD’s I talk to, it’s mainly a bunch of young assistants you’ve never heard of. Why not hire within? Why not take a chance on a guy who’s been busting his ass for you already? I will give Moore some props, outsider looking in, being a young coach, he brought some guys out of retirement who really seem to be reenergized. I think that’s awesome, these guys still have a lot to offer, particularly a young coach learning how to be a HC.
  9. He was busy doing Angel Skinners while you and Phylis were smoking Marlboros and knocking out some scratchers.
  10. Remember the devices your wore around your neck to make your brain swell?
  11. What IO was saying was I see no real chance of significantly lowering head trauma in this game until we can change physics or somehow change the viscosity of a player’s Cerebrospinal Fluid. The rest of it is just what the local ATC said. I think the real issue with any of this type of tech is the companies themselves are not usually in a position to have the research done, Per Bob’s study posted. Riddel or Schutt may have the resources, but does it really make financial sense for them to fund a study that may not add to the bottom line. I think we have made huge strides in technique changes and at least recognizing there is a problem. I really believe in the near term that’s probably where we need to focus our energy.
  12. On the face of it, our brains are suspended in fluid. When our head is in motion and suddenly stops your brain is still in motion until it hits the side of your skull. You can put all the padding you want over your head, but the fact remains when your head stop’s suddenly, your brain is still going to slam up against your skull. I sent a text to the local trainer and asked if he could provide some data as to their effectiveness. He responded with “they don’t work, if they did we wouldn’t walk on the field without them.”
  13. Awesome does this mean more senseless congressional hearings?
  14. Making people laugh is one of the most difficult things to do. Mr Sexton was able to do that in spades. Thank you sir for your contribution to mankind, rest easy, I for one will miss your genius.
  15. Having to play seven conference games and Seymour (gate) kinda limits their options.
  16. Absolutely would love to see EC, but realistically probably would never happen. With the big/small split in the EIAC gives EC the chance to play their rivals, Roncalli, GCCL team or two, and Harrison. I think EC is upgrading their athletic program across the board, would be a great fit other than geographically. South Dearborn has been talked about, better fit geographically but a bit of downgrade athletically. I don’t see BHSN adding anything of value to the conference, other than a rival for BNL. For the HHC Bloomington would be our Terre Haute. Columbus North would be the logical choice, but it’ll never happen C’mon man, I’m tryna maintain a facade here.
  17. And with regards to the Bulleitt Stadium comment, you’ve seen Seymour more than I have.
  18. Pretty sure I’ve offered to buy the first round on multiple occasions.
  19. Take it to the IFCA man, do whatever you want with it. But the short lived Bridge Bowl series didn’t work out so well.
  20. I’m going to disagree on a couple of points as someone who is heavily involved with “a” high school all star game. I believe they do bring value to the athletes and their families as a nice way experience to end you high school career. I’ve been thru it as a parent, a coach, and now as they doing all the grunt work behind the scenes. I am a firm believer in them and we work very hard to make it a good experience for the players and their families. This has NEVER been about making money. We make enough to cover our expenses, which are sizable, and have enough left over for seed for our winter coaches clinic. Kids are always going opt out for whatever reason and that’s OK, it gives an option to another deserving player. Our game has been around longer than (insert stud name here) and it will be around after they don’t show up. The IFCA will survive this just fine and come back next year with a great game. You had a perfect storm of knuckleheads one year, move on.
  21. I’m pretty sure Cody Parkhurst is at the bottom of this.
  22. That must have been before your mea culpa with Coach Bragg.
  23. Did it once, agreed. But it did get a little chippy. We just talked a lot and got thru it.
