  1. You know when you're dead, you don't really care, but the dead usually leave behind loved ones, family, friends who loved them, cared for them, or at the very least will miss them. Celebrating anyone's death is at the very least in poor taste, and speaks more to your morals, than to those who've passed. I realize you clowns think you're being virtuous, but you're really just shining a light on your own character.

New lockers at New Haven, I am guessing. The new gym is much closer to the stadium too, so a shorter walk. Thinking the previous LONG walk had to do with some of the flags we saw. 🤣🤣 I kid, I kid. Good luck to you guys this season, it will at least be an interesting one.

The walk at Kinghtstown the first fall after my hip replacement was among the worst I ever endured.

There are several documents trickling down through association football chairs. One of them addresses administrative issues for officials, and contains the following:

“Host school will provide adequate dressing facilities for officials to include lockers, showers, and adequate space to observe social distancing.”

I laughed when I read the email, and it’s still funny. I don’t think most people understand some of cramped, $hitholes we are expected to use.

  4. I did the WIOA Zoom meeting last night and the speaker, a Big Ten wing, and now first year NFL official discussed dealing with coaches. He brought up a subject that seems to be gaining traction in the officiating community, calling coaches by their first name. I’ve heard this mentioned several times in clinics and meetings. Perhaps I’m old school, I have always addressed coaches as “coach” or “Coach XXXX”, to me it’s just a respect thing. So I got to thinking about it last night, I’m a pretty informal person, when I’m referred to as Mr Personett, I’m pretty quick to tell someone I’m Brian, so is it time for me to refer to coaches by their first name? I’d be interested in input from coaches as well as officials.

Comment: the return to competition is driven almost wholly by economics. The IHSAA got no revenue from the boy’s basketball tournament. They miss the boy’s football tournament and they’re going to be bankrupt. Schools are in the same boat. Without that revenue, athletic departments are simply unable to function. So, I hope we have a great season. But don’t kid yourself. People are going to die who would not have died otherwise. I hope it’s worth it.

I have to disagree, basketball sectionals were played, individual schools completed their BB season, at least the revenue generating part. With spring sports being shut down, money losers at most schools, I would guess most athletic departments are entering the fall in decent shape. Losing Football season could be devastating for many schools and certainly the IHSAA.

As someone who supervises travel sport events, I can tell you there is currently little to no concern regarding the virus in the events I’ve been at the last three weeks with the patrons at the events I’ve been at. And what little concern there was when we began the weekend of the 12 has quickly disappeared. I would also argue some of the restrictions imposed has been counterproductive in my opinion. But they’re government regulations, no common sense is allowed.
