  1. New Pal is the only Indiana team to beat this senior Cathedral class not named Center Grove in 4 years.
  2. Wow, Irish D. That was a pretty performance. 4 turnovers in the first half to help a sputtering offense get rolling in the 2nd half. Hard to say anyone had a better half than Bryce Llewelyn with 3 picks (including 2 on 30 yard single coverage bombs), but have to send a shout out Ben Gomez. Ben's timely punts kept the field position game under control in the first half. The last of which was in the back of the Irish end zone after an abysmal non-touchback call on Llewelyn's second pick. And, he had to have just missed the longest attempt in Cathedral football history: A 62 yarder that had the leg, but just missed wide left. That was amazing. It was good to see the OLIne strap one together this game with the running game. DannyO took a nasty hit, but that was a blind side corner blitz. He'll learn to sniff those out, especially after last night's hit. On to New Pal for some unfinished business. Excited we get to see the Dragons.
  3. Cathedral 10 Decatur 0 5:553rd. Cathedral winning turnover battle 4-1. DC defense keeping them in it.
  4. Lets see if DrivenT/Temptation can get another Cathedral thread locked. It would be the 4th in 4 weeks. Impressive even for him.
  5. We have a 100% graduation rate and a 99% college placement rate. We'll take any public/private school kid tomorrow that likes those chances. Way better chance getting to college than getting playing time. And, if you think we sustain full enrollment without recruiting you're crazy. We beat the streets constantly for good kids. It's hard as hell to find parents committed to the sacrifice of $15k/annual. There are are certain forms of aid, but way less than the public and DT/temptation would mislead you to think.
  6. Passive aggressive much, Lysander. You are the most gushing, obnoxious Chatard apologist on the board. Evidenced by your 6 paragraph post on how good Chatard and Doyle is. Funny. Pound sand. You'll always be Cathedral's little red-headed step child. Roncalli wins by 2 TDs. Roncalli running game rolls.
  7. The 2020 team has a way more impressive resume solely based on strength of schedule. It was Top 5 SOS in the country and they lost their only game by 4 points. Most these seniors were starters on that team, so I don't think they mind which team people think is better. The 2021 team only has a new QB, RB, 2 receivers, and two defensive players. The '96 - 2000 era were incredible teams. I'd say the undefeated 1996 might have been our best ever. Hard to really pinpoint best ever with our 100 years of football. The 1959-1965 football teams only lost 3 games. The '62 team was undefeated and won the "game of the decade" 2-0 against Arsenal Tech, the city's finest at the time. Ready for Hawks!
  8. Anytime there is a Tracy on the opposing team, anything can happen. One of the most talented families that has rolled through the IHSAA in recent memory. The Irish will have their hands full containing him. I'm excited to see our Front7 be challenged.
  9. EC is the real deal. Perhaps a Roncalli or Chatard slayer. Love to see it.
  10. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that Temptation is DrivenT. Finkle is Einhorn. Einhorn is Finkle.
  11. I laid off commenting on anything Temptation troll has said because 99% of me thinks he is trying get another topic locked talking about the CG-Cathedral game. I'll indulge since it's Friday. There are so many reasons that we played CG at Arlington. None of it had to do with team speed. I believe CHS is a faster team than CG is. We had multiple IHSAA track finalists as well, etc. Arlington is and has been our de facto home field since the late 1980s. It has many home field advantages the last of which was the grass playing field. Grass has just lately been an advantage during the recent shift to turf fields in the last 5 - 7 years. So, for 30 years of playing CHS football there, it was just another field surface. Arlington's home field advantage is much more: 1. Proximity (1 mile from CHS campus). Our Friday routine of mass, walk through, meal can start later with the end of school. 2. Crowned field - the slight crown on the field (for drainage, by the way) poses some different passing challenges. 3. Visitor locker room and press box - Visitor locker is in the school and a short walk to the field. Likewise, the press box is extremely tight. 4. History - many, many Sectional, Regional, and Semi-state games have been won on that field. Sometimes in the freezing slop of a rain game. One of the best games of all time there was one of our best teams ever in 1999 losing to Arlington (who was the visiting team - yes you heard that right) with Mr. Football Derrick Ellis in a complete monsoon. These Irish players study and know our Irish Football history. At the end of the day, we'll decide what field suits us better to win the game. We prefer Arlington, but if a turf field might be a sizable advantage, we'll move it. I can't see us doing this for a regular season game. We have a contract with Arlington for the regular season. We also don't get all the gate for the IHSAA playoffs.
  12. Cathedral J/V 14 Center Grove 12 Cathedral Frosh 21 Center Grove 0 Irish teams go 24-2 on the regular season. One J/V loss to St. X and obviously the varsity defeat to CG last Friday. A great regular season.
  13. When the State of Indiana builds your press box, it's always a little fancier. We'll bring hand warmers and hot chocolate to your coaches.
  14. Irish 16 CG 13. It will be the Josiah Smith coming out party tonight. The big fella is gonna be special. Let's go, Irish! if you get there early, come have a beverage on the Irish Express. We'll be there shortly.
  15. How is the CG kicking game? Cathedral has senior Ben Gomez that has range from 50. I think this one is decided by field goals. No clue about CG's kicker. Lets hope BGomez is feeling confident this Friday.
  16. The way I see it, Irish D has given up 35 points this season through 8 games. One touchdown against first team 11 Gold in Brownsburg, Chatard, Columbus North, Cincy LaSalle, and Brebeuf.
  17. The rubber match game between two unbelievable senior classes. 2018 Cathedral Frosh 14 Center Grove 7 2020 Center Grove Juniors 17 CHS 13 Both schools have taken care of business. Time to settle it all. CHS has been waiting a year for this. Should be awesome!
  18. 9 of these little guys square off tonight in the north side Catholic battle. Hard to believe they are seniors. Go Irish.
  19. Also, the Brebeuf 2016 win was the most incredible upset of their history. Mic Roessler, who was fired by a weak, ultra-lib Brebeuf parent community, was aggressive and awesome in that game. Bevelhimer (St. Luke) dropped 3 punts inside the Irish 10 yard line that night. And, on a 4th and 6 from the Brebeuf 40 right before half, dialed up a fake punt that went all the way to the Irish 3 yard line for an eventual score. it was a funky year for the Irish. Stepp wouldn't run the ball outside of the 20s for fear of "hurting a hamstring and his college options". Streiff convalesced. It was a very trying year for all the Irish faithful. Prob the year that drove Rick out of the coaching business. it's good to see Marquese doing well at Nebraska this year, but it was a brutal end to his high school year. Can't wait to see Max Walters, Annee, Michael Irk, Strickland, and the Prep lads Friday.
  20. That was 2000. One of our most talented ever. 2 NFL guys. Kiwanuka and Trueblood with Otis Shannon and an admirable returning cast. Upset by a far inferior Plainfield team. Will be the forever motivator for any teams reading clippings for the near future.
