6A has so many good teams this year, it's almost a shame that CG is so darn good. Regional 1 (Sectionals 1 & 2) should be fairly easy for Merrillville, though Chesterton or Penn could give them a half decent game. Regional 4 (Sectionals 7 & 8 ) should also be easy for CG, but Sectional 7 Could be exciting. Regional 3 (Sectionals 5 & 6) will have some great games, in Carmel vs Brownsburg and the winner of that game having to beat Ben Davis for the second time in a single season. Regional 2 (you get the idea at this point...), though, is going to be electric. Westfield seems to be the consensus favorite, but I think an argument could EASILY be made for Carroll or HSE. And I wouldn't overlook Warsaw or Homestead, both I believe are better than most think. I like Semi-State 1 to have Merrillville facing off against Carroll, and Semi-State 2 having Carmel play CG. State game will have CG trouncing Merrillville.

Not really sure what all the quotes are here for. Sarcasm? Also not sure what Bob Morris's "UNIBROW" has to do with anything. Regardless, I just told you above that I have talked to other FWCS residents, at least half of which are locals to the neighborhood, the rest being Fort Wayne residents, and the vast majority have agreed with me. You, on the other hand, have been the first person that has vehemently opposed the idea. I have had others say that we simply don't have space, which I think is a completely valid argument, and others say it would be too costly, which is also a great concern. But for some reason, you seem offended that I, or others, would even entertain the idea that the 14-18 year old children of one of the better high school football programs of Indiana should have the chance to enjoy their own facilities, rather than share the extremely worn and dated facilities of their arch rivals (seriously, have you been in Northrop's locker rooms?). You are correct, the people of the local neighborhoods would suffer when trying to get to or around Snider, unlike how nearly all of east Fort Wayne was affected when Shield essentially shut down the intersection of Washington Center and Clinton. While traffic would be a nightmare, it is for any and all construction projects. Saying you don't want to start a project because of traffic is like saying you don't want to drink water because your mouth is going to get wet. It's just something that happens with the given action. As for who is going to pay the costs for policing: FWCS. And who will pay for damaged roads: the city of Fort Wayne, like they always have. You knew those answers before you even asked. So since those schools are the only ones that can easily expand means they are the only ones deserving of expansion? Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it isn't worth doing. This argument is getting a little too heated for a thread that was supposed to be about Luers moving a game and if they should be getting turf or not. One day I will start a thread for this discussion and we can continue this debate there. I honestly should have just let it die and not said anything in the first place. That said, I'd love for Luers Field to get turf, but I think it would take away some of the charm. I have always loved natural fields and mud bowls, but as I get older, I understand how that can affect the integrity of the game as well as the outcome of games (such as last Friday night's). I am torn for my love of natural fields, and my love for the best conditions for high profile games.

You keep saying that, but as someone who lives off of the corner of Reed and Stellhorn, this is my neighborhood, and I am a local resident. I have lived in this neighborhood for 23 years. Anyone and everyone I have discussed this topic with, at least half of whom are local residents of the neighborhood, have agreed that we should do SOMETHING, whether it be a whole multipurpose facility like my proposed idea, or a revamping of the current Bowser Field similar to Dwenger and Shields Field.

It's tight, but I definitely believe it's doable. Here's an example: In the attached image, the school on the left is Snider HS, the school on the right is Lane MS. As you can see, both schools have a small field/stadium/track, which is arguably unnecessary for schools in such close proximity. Eliminate Lane's field and track (large red square) entirely. Move Snider's softball diamond (small red square) out to the baseball diamonds on Long Road. That frees up a large area between Lane and the fire department on Reed Road for a multipurpose facility that could support the track & field, football, and soccer teams of both Snider and Lane, as well as Snider's lacrosse team (and anyone else I am forgetting that would like to use the facilities). Bowser Field in it's current state would no longer be needed, so it can get the axe as well. There WILL, however, be a need for practice facilities for all the above state teams, which could be on the southern end of Snider's property (orange square). Then, if the tennis courts are moved slightly (blue square), or even just left where they are, the remaining space could be paved for additional parking lot space to solve the issue regarding parking for games. It is definitely asking for a lot, but I have been sitting on this idea since I was in high school, and I genuinely think it should work

How about splitting a new stadium/field with Snider? That way we wouldn't have to see that hideous Bruin 6+ times a year lol

My brother was on the 2004 Snider team. I was on the 2015 team. His team would have beaten us 8 times out of 10. We could score but that defense he was on was an absolute nightmare. And our defense would have had no way to stop them. We only win those two games becasue I think we could figure out a way to score on them, eventually.

This game is massive. Luers has a chance to win their first outright conference championship since 2011, a decade ago, their 4th since 2000. Snider has a chance to win their first since 2017, and their 8th of the new millennium. Luers has one of the best aerial attacks in the state, and one of the best quarterback to boot. They've been solid since week one. Snider has a massive offensive line, a bruising running back, and have only gotten hotter as each week has come. Tonight's game, which is being played on a natural surface, will be determined by the weather. If things can dry up by game time, and Luers has the chance to throw the ball all night, Snider's secondary will have their work cut out for them. Might come down to whoever has the ball last. It the rain persists, however, Snider's run game should tear up Luers, and the Panther's front 7 should be able to corral Carson Clark. Even though I am a Snider fan, something inside of me wouldn't be upset if the 2A school won the SAC. Anyone who isn't watching this game is going to miss a good one.

Luers Field always does seem to have some long grass, doesn't it? I played on it a few times, don't particularly remember it standing out as creating performance issues. It was definitely nice to land on though, especially compared to the dirt over by Lane MS that we used to practice on. That ground would be like concrete about now. No bueno.

That is going to be the deciding factor tomorrow, imo.

Dwenger at Northrop This one could be interesting. The Bruins are coming off of a solid win over the Legends, and the Saints have lost four out of their last five. Saints will probably pull away, but I'll be watching the fourth quarter on this one. Final Score: Bishop Dwenger 35-21 Northrop North Side at Concordia Closest game in the Fort this week, but only because they're both so bad. Legends have so much talent, but no heart. Cadets are just kinda... there? Tight game over in Zollner, but still a snooze fest. Cadets stop the slide. Final Score: North Side 16-17 Concordia Snider at Luers I almost picked against the Panthers again this week, and I was afraid @psaboy was going to come find me. But I forgot three very important things: that 1) all of the Knights' big games have been away games, on turf, and 2) this game is at Luers Field, and 3) Friday is calling for cold and rain. The Knights finally comes home to a natural surface and inclement weather to find the hottest team in the SAC who has arguably the best run game in the SAC. (Sounds like another game down in the Indy area... 👀) Knights have their work cut out for them this Friday, and I think it's going to be a classic no matter who wins. Final Score: Snider 31-24 Bishop Luers South Side at Homestead Archers should have been scouting Delta all week, because at least they stand a chance in that game. Final Score: South Side 7-49 Homestead Wayne at Carroll The Generals actually did keep it competitive last week, for about two and a half quarters. That wont happen this week. Roll Chargers. Oh boy indeed. Nothing gets me more excited for a game than a wet, cold, windy, muddy, stormy night. Most fun games to play in. Wish I could make it, but definitely will be watching from up North.

Yeah that makes sense, easier than driving it across town at the end of the season. But Wayne and Dwenger played in the middle of the season in 2014, so not sure why they would leave it for them when at least one other team still had to have it for that season? Def would love to see the video tho. Snider would always paint the supports black and leave the bell itself plain. I actually hate the idea of painting on the actual bell at all, but to each their own I guess!

I gotta say this game is the de facto state championship, for all classes. Winner of this game is the true king of Indiana HS Football. Which is why neither team should hold back. Each should cruise through their respective tournaments, regardless of which players they chose to field. So lay it all on the line this Friday. Final Score: Center Grove 19-16 Cathedral

I was a senior at Snider in 2015. Since us, Wayne, and Luers split the title in 2014, each of us had the bell for 3 weeks each throughout the 2015 season. Dwenger won the SAC in 2015, so they got the bell for all of the following season, 2016. No bell in the playoffs, per IHSAA. No noisemakers at all. At least that is how I remember it, definitely could be wrong.

I went off of enrollment for the big/small division split, and considering Dwenger only has an enrollment of around 1,000 and Wayne has about 1,650, it wouldn't make sense to swap them. Like I said above, I personally would like an East/West split which would look like this: East Schools West Schools Snider Homestead Concordia Carroll Bishop Dwenger Northrop North Side South Side Bishop Luers Wayne

I appreciate it. Don't get me started on the fact that Snider doesn't have a field either. I've got a plan for a multi-use facility for Snider and Lane Middle School to share that I've been talking about since I was a freshman and I can't seem to get anyone to give it the time of day lol

I guess it's situational. Let's look at a few hypothetical situations: Let's say the SAC splits into Big School/Small School divisions based on enrollment (I personally would rather see an East/West split but I think this is more likely). The divisions would be as follows: Big Schools Small Schools Homestead Bishop Luers Carroll Concordia Northrop Bishop Dwenger Snider South Side Wayne North Side Each team would play all others in their division, as well as two cross division games, and saving Week 9 for Championship Week. That covers 7 weeks of play, leaving 2 weeks open for out of conference play. Lets say, hypothetically, that Snider constructs a schedule that follows as such: Homestead Northrop Bishop Dwenger Wayne Carroll *Open Week* Penn North Side *Championship Week* Now Snider has an open week between two tough opponents. The optimal thing to do here would be to look for a lower caliber team (albeit one that still provides a enough of a challenge to give the kids coaching and growth opportunities) in the Northeast region to fill that gap and let the starters rest up between two hard games. However, if there are no teams that fit the bill for that week, I personally think it would be better for the Panthers to take a bye-week rather than fill that slot with a team of higher caliber, which would only increase the chance of injury and wear them down going into a trap game against the Legends, potentially spoiling their Week 9 dreams. This bye-week, paired with their game against the Kingsmen and the first round sectionals bye-week, sets up the Panthers for a great post season run. Now let's look look at a situation to your point where Snider could suffer from this type of scheduling: Carroll Homestead South Side Wayne *Open Week* Concordia *Open Week* Northrop *Championship Week* Snider has their two biggest divisional opponents in weeks 1 and 2. After that they are really struggling to find anyone to fill the gaps between a 6 week stretch of easy games. No one from the MIC, HCC, or just in the North has an open week that lines up with Snider's schedule. All they can find are low caliber teams, or teams from deep into Southern Indiana, and Ohio and Michigan (which pose their own logistical challenges). Snider is left scrambling and may be left potentially empty handed, playing a 6 week schedule that gives them absolutely nothing to challenge them, setting them up for failure for the SAC crown and the playoffs. So to answer your question, it depends. If the second situation comes up often enough (more than once every 10 years), then it's not worth it. But I think it is more likely that the first situation will be what we would see. And, as I stated above, I personally think missing a game in that situation wouldn't actually be any different from filling that week with a team like New Haven.
