Agree on Patterson and splitting hairs but I just don’t think that you can replace guys like Mickens on D and Jackson on O and not skip a beat. Luter and Duff are the real deal though. I really think BD is the MIC favorite and Warren, LC and LN are neck and neck (and neck) for that runner up spot.

Can’t give you an exact number obviously but just looking at the skill positions (depending upon your trust level with max preps), they lose their starting QB and three leading WRs from last year. They do return their RB. On the defensive side it appears they return their leading tackler. Definitely honorable mention to start the year with a wait and see approach from me.

Did a weekly installment of this last fall at it generated discussion and received solid feedback so I’m gonna give it a go again in 2023. Here’s how I see the state’s top 25, regardless of class, heading into the opening week. Admittedly, my knowledge of central Indiana (my backyard) is better than other areas but I did some homework and even picked the brains of some GID members for which I am grateful. Once the season starts, I’ll post these every weekend after surfing game results. I’ll keep 50 teams in my database (25 honorable mention) weekly but will await week 1 results before doing so. They gotta take care of category three and steal one from category 2.

A quick glance reveals that Center Grove has won 20 team state championships in the history of the school…only one (softball in 1986) came prior to 1990. I stand by my statement.

So, roughly 1400 in 1982. Around 2000 in 2000. 2800 in 2023. Gained 600 students between 1982-2000, or a 42% increase. Gained 800 students between 2000-2023, another 40% increase. Semantics. My statement regarding Moore’s timing still reigns true.

Ok wise guy. Do tell. CG has nearly doubled in enrollment in the past 25 years. So even if I am “wrong”, CG exploded DURING the early years of Moore’s tenure which still makes my statement valid.

CG also started exploding in population in the late 90s also. I’m one of the biggest Eric Moore guys on here and he deserves every bit of praise for his accomplishments but the timing of his takeover was perfect and cannot be ignored.
