  1. People move into areas all the time. Not sure why that is seen as a negative. Russ' Dad Craig, former NFL player himself, moved into the area when he took over as offensive coordinator at Franklin College. I am sure he received some direction as to the best place for Russ and his sister, who is currently a standout in track at the University of Louisville for education and athletics. Whether Russ grew up in CG or not, he sure understood the offense, (and D when he played that side of the ball) Not living in an area one's entire life doesn't diminish anything and Russ will hardly be the last to move into a given area later in his high school career.
  2. Didn't IU have the 4th ranked recruiting class in the Big 10 earlier this year? 20th nationally? https://www.idsnews.com/article/2021/12/indiana-football-2022-recruiting-class-national-signing-day#:~:text=Indiana's class of 2022 is,20 nationally.&text=Indiana football signed its 2022 recruiting class Wednesday on National Signing Day. That may have changed given the exodus of the running back from Cincy to ND, but pretty darn good for IU. As FB16 indicated, some excellent players via the transfer portal. I do agree...its unfortunate IU plays in the Big 10 East.....I hope they shake up this conference alignment someday. That is 2nd only to the SEC West in terms of tough competition. I also agree with your comments about Schiano and Rutgers....greatly improved.
  3. ?? The last 2 years of national rankings might just say different with CG gaining top 10 season ending rankings in all 3 national high school ranking groups. The MIC big 4 have frequently been ranked in the top 100 nationally. No argument of BD and WC's dominance in the 90's and mid 2000's respectively. Saw both teams play a ton then. But that was then....and not sure how much weight that carries today. The reason for the constant high rankings of the MIC conference nationally is due to more than those 2 teams.
  4. I understand one making that point. The “bashing of communities” and making it personal to individuals took this to another level, in my opinion. I absolutely agree that it’s time to move on.
  5. I must have missed where he in any way bashed any community or the people in them. Can you show that to me, or is this simply an example of what social media has become? My interpretation of his remarks was direction to administration and not communities nor the people in them. His point was that administration in the MIC schools kicked Carmel and CG out due to feeling betrayed and also as a result of tilted competitive results. You or anyone may disagree with his position, but to twist the meaning as to him attacking communities and people are unfortunate and in my opinion, a tad disingenuous. Now, if you can show me comments where he attacked people in MIC communities, I will re-evaluate my thoughts as to your message intent. I love the MIC and hate that this change happened. I will remain a fan and that comes with watching kids compete against each other for many years. While I agree that revenue was a major reason Carmel and CG started looking for another conference alternative, it was hardly the only reason. Thank you for years of being a teacher and obviously committed to the community in which you educated others. I appreciate your passion and understand to a degree your defensiveness. But for what its worth, I think you also jumped on the opportunity to make this more personal that what was warranted.
  6. Thanks Gonzo....can't wait to see this one. What a legend!!! Can't imagine trying to dig into the batter box and face this guy.
  7. Eric and his staff are amazing track coaches. Eric runs the CG Power Club where they properly teach speed and lifting techniques (not lifting weights) beginning at the elementary age for all athletes, boys and girls. It pays off huge dividends as they learn young so when they get to high school, they are ready and aligned. There have been a number of CG kids go on and have very good track and field careers at the collegiate level, with most of the boys also playing football. Marty Mills is the CG strength coach and he is second to none. It all fits together. When it is all said and done, Eric Moore should be a HOF coach in both football and track. CG is beyond blessed to land Eric a couple of decades ago and his biggest attribute to coaching goes way beyond teaching a sport.
  8. Oregon? The look of excrement to be expected in an infant's diaper. Glowing toxic waste worn by a human.
  9. Big +1!! I'm out of votes!! lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo for me.....mustard as a back up to mayo
  10. I would rank Oscar #1 for the fro. Bake McBride would make the top 5 list. Used love to watch Bake take off his batting helmet. Never knew how those guys could keep their hats on while running the outfield. Bake sported the classic beard as well.
  11. Apologies...it a weakness.... I'm seeing help to combat this issue from an outstanding source....
  12. What I have heard....but it is someone speaking for him https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/deebo-samuel-trade-rumors-heres-the-main-reason-why-the-49ers-star-wants-out-of-san-francisco-per-report/ https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/04/20/deebo-samuel-san-francisco-49ers-report-wide-receiver-running-back
  13. I read where he wants to stop being used as a running back....don't blame him
  14. Major league attendance this season....6 of the bottom 10 teams are American League teams. Teams that have had the DH in place for a long time. Should I believe that the Dodgers, Cards, Braves and Padres attendance is due to the DH? (focus on the highlighted home attendance) Oakland is packing them in....2700 in the stadium yesterday......7 teams avg less than 20K at home....another 17 avg less than 30K at home. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/oakland-as-see-record-low-attendance-number-for-second-straight-game/ DH is interesting....but as the past studies have shown... little correlation with attendance......
  15. Will be interesting to see how Jim Knowles can turn it around. Had pretty darn good success at OK State. https://www.si.com/college/ohiostate/football/ohio-state-football-buckeyes-name-oklahoma-state-jim-knowles-new-defensive-coordinator
  16. So...Clemson isn't a blue blood, but Duke became a blue blood the moment Coach K took over the program?......even though it took 11 seasons to win his first title. He was 85-65 over his first 5 years. I am not debating they aren't a blue blood program....I am simply saying it took a few years of sustained excellence to become a blue blood.....but not your 40-50 year timeframe criteria. If you would have read the links, you would have seen where others disagree with you about Clemson. But they had different criteria than a half century timeframe, in which I included. BTW, I never said a decade....I just don't believe it has to be 40-50 years. And if we use your criteria, there are example of teams considered blue bloods that were dominant in the earlier period of those 50 years, that are certainly not dominant today. The authors that believe there are only 8 blue bloods list Nebraska, USC and Michigan in that list. Based on their performance over the past 10-20 years, I struggle with calling those blue blood programs any longer. Good discussion....I was just trying to understand your comment about 40-50 years of sustained excellence to be considered a blue blood.
  17. Just curious as to why it takes a half century of sustained top performance to be considered a blue blood. I understand an extended period...but 40-50 years?? Coach K was there 40 years....but his Duke program was nowhere near a blue blood program during his first decade. So even if a blue blood for 3 decades, he doesn't meet your 40-50 years criteria. BTW, regarding Clemson, and many other programs....I guess it boils down to who is defining blood bloods. I look at the articles that define 8 schools as blue bloods and one could argue that based on the last 2 decades, they should be falling off. Schools such as Nebraska, USC, Texas, etc. But using the criteria below, Clemson is considered a blue blood. https://lastwordonsports.com/collegefootball/2020/03/06/top-25-college-football-blue-bloods/ https://www.offtackleempire.com/2020/1/24/21078249/what-defines-a-football-blue-blood-in-2020
  18. Based on that definition, Duke would not be a blue blood in college basketball.........nor would Clemson be considered in college football. 2 decades is not enough???
  19. No flag, no penalty. Nothing to debate.
  20. Mike was quite the athlete with a very nice baseball career at Notre Dame. Check out his bio https://und.com/roster/mike-dury/
  21. Its commonly called "Frack" at CG. Coach Moore has won state titles in both football and track. Guessing that puts him on a very short list. Has coached a number of individual state champions in track, some going on to have nice careers at the next level.
