  1. Thanks Irish....this helps these worn eyes to see it better. I understand the frustration much better now.
  2. Again, not disputing you...to me it looked like it could have been his leg with the burgandy pants. I guess it wasn't clear to me, but with my vision, my view is lacking.... I can also see where it would be the ball...just not 100% positive.
  3. My eyes are not great..first to admit. I can't tell from the photo if that is the ball or the leg of the Minnesota player....
  4. Penix out indefinitely according to AP and ESPN….
  5. Great questions...and I agree...kids today most likely are not swayed by traditions of the past. Perhaps a school like Penn State has a nice market on talent not only in rich PA, but also much of the northeast. Throw in some individuals from the midwest and south, and they have quite the roster. They also have that connection of putting guys, especially on D, into the NFL. But what a comeback they made as you said from a tremendously bleak event just a few years ago that could have been the death of the program. They also defy the trend that you see from so many programs that have multiple uniform and helmet options....they wear the same old home and away uni's with the same helmet....and they still attract the young talent. Interesting case study. MSU is also interesting...I thought they were plummenting on the way down, and that ship seems to be back on course.
  6. So true Irish...I remember going to an IU vs Wisconsin game at Memorial Stadium as a kid back in the Corso years and IU shut out Wisconsin 24-0. Wisconsin's best attribute back then was the marching band they brought with them. Alvarez really changed the culture of that program.
  7. Michigan State had little issue with Western KY yesterday. I’m not sure if IU will be favored in another game this season if they don’t turn this offense around. I can’t tell is the offense is predictable because of the limitations of the O Coord, limitations of the QB, or both.
  8. Can really hear the shots in this video. I understand how people must have thought this was inside the stadium. Had to be just right outside.
  9. Hines is great no doubt. But Mack and Hines are different backs. Mack is 6' 210lb man that was a workhorse between the tackles. He broked the 1000 yd barrier in 2019 before going down with an injury in early 2020. When I say "1-2" punch, I am talking the kind of back than can run repeatedly inside. Taylor and Mack can do that. Hines is not that kind of back. Had he been seen as such a back, there would have been no reason to draft Taylor following the 2019 season. Mack could have been released with Taylor and Hines on the roster, but he wasn't. He was given a $2M contract for a season in March 2021. Clearly, the GM felt he would compliment Taylor with fresh legs. All I am saying, is that feeling changed quickly once the season started...so much that I don't believe Mack was even active last Sunday. I am curious what happened to change Ballard's mind from earlier in March.
  10. that's probably the root cause..... but when they gave Mack a one year deal in March instead of releasing him, many thought for at least a season, we would see a 1-2 punch. Guess that has changed, but changed quickly.... https://www.stampedeblue.com/2021/3/17/22336717/breaking-news-colts-re-signing-running-back-marlon-mack-to-a-1-year-2-million-deal
  11. Things went south fast between Mack and the Colts...wonder what happened behind the scenes??
  12. OK,,,not going to argue with you. You can assess character from your internet sources. Glad you were able to locate some accurate, non-biased and trustworthy media sources. I don't always seem to have that luck.
  13. I'm not disagreeing...I meant in the long run. No doubt they are struggling offensively.
  14. Well if it’s on the internet….. I don’t know the man…guessing Clemson will be alright…
  15. And you know his heart how??
  16. You make great points.... I think some of this is that the media is looking for new teams and new stories....and I think a large chunk of the media isn't fond of Dabo.
  17. What part of Roncalli in his profile do you not understand? No dog in this fight, I haven't read the first thing negative about the field from a CG fan. Guessing you know that. Its been brought to your attention repeatedly. I sense you like to stir things up.....talk is cheap.
  18. No disagreement...whether under center and blasting it up the middle into the teeth of the D with 9 defenders coming hard or in a shotgun and doing something similar, it plays into the strength of the D. Now, if its a game in which the O line has been dominating the D line, that's a different story. But it seems with the Colts, IU, etc, there seems to be guts to go for it on 4th down, but very little creativity when it comes down to the play itself
  19. What always has me scratching my head is rolling the dice on 4th and short....then running the most basic rushing play up the gut.
  20. Agreed...and sadly, injuries at a couple of key spots can change the direction of a season. Health and sometimes pure luck is always needed and appreciated. Regarding your last sentence...we agree in numbers only. But in quality of play, year in and year out, Cathedral does not seem like a 4A team...not by a long shot.
  21. Both teams are well represented in the Massey Ratings as well. Again, how much credence one gives to national rankings is certainly variable. But, we do see consistency in the various systems that have been shared. Again, I don't think its a bad thing to see Indiana schools appear on national rankings. It can't hurt and I would think overall improve national/regional thoughts about football in our state. Simply sharing..... https://masseyratings.com/hsf/ratings
  22. Uh...Technically Colorado Buffaloes from the Pac 12. But we all understood and hard to disagree. Going to be very tough for IU remainder of the season
  23. Perhaps a little more than just W-L records. I do think both CG and Cathedral are getting credit for the quality of teams played. https://www.nchsaa.org/sites/default/files/attachments/NCMaxPrepsRanking_FAQ.pdf https://www.ncsasports.org/articles-1/high-school-football-rankings USA Today Rankings Sept 14th (guess updated ranking is coming soon) https://usatodayhss.com/2021/high-school-football-rankings-national-super-25-usa-today-sports-week-3 I think we all realize that national ranking systems are nowhere close to perfect, include human bias, etc. But I think most Indiana high school football fans appreciate seeing teams from the state represented, and I believe the reputation for Indy metro football continues to increase nationwide. I would rather see Indiana high school football teams represented nationally than not. (just my opinion) Keep pushing forward CG and Cathedral!!!
