  1. I imagine the rationale might be that the EVSC would lose more in gate receipts if Reitz was forced to host home games away from the Bowl versus the loss when Bosse hosts away from Enlow. Big difference in number of fans between those 2 schools. It kinda stinks for Memorial, but we don't really have any say (and shouldn't because we are just tenants). Our 2024 schedule is similar to 2020 (the last Enlow project) in that we only have 1 home game in the first 5 weeks anyway so it won't be much of an issue.
  2. Is there any detailed info on the scope of the work to be performed? The only thing I saw in a newspaper blurb was there was an issue with the concrete coatings that were applied a couple of years ago. I hope the Enlow turf is getting replaced as it has been 15 seasons. I suspect it will be because the turf at Reitz and Central was replaced in recent years. Did EVSC ever do anything about the lighting at Bowl? I was out of town for our game at the Bowl this year.. I wish it were possible to restore the interior areas of Enlow accessible from the top of the home grandstand. They have been gated off for decades.
  3. Interesting note... MD's Mike Goebel was named NFHS 2022-2023 Football Coach of the Year. Memorial's Angie Lensing received the same COY award for girls soccer. These are national awards, so its pretty impressive for Evansville's Catholic high schools to have 2 winners in the same year.
  4. I have no personal knowledge, but I've always heard Barr-Reeve and Loogootee don't want a football program to compete with basketball. At around 260 students each, they would not be the smallest 1A football schools...
  5. But that should improve the quality of the soccer program. Jasper's boys program has gotten much more competitive in recent years for that reason.
  6. The more I think about it, I should probably pick up a copy...
  7. LOL. I'm not sure that is the flex you think it is, Titan32, but hey, at least someone posted on the GID!!
  8. did anything ever happen with that in the court system?
  9. Sure looks a lot more exciting than Sectional 24 aka "SIAC Redux".
  10. No question those 3 were frequent flyers at their actual 4A enrollment levels.
  11. I am going purely off of memory here with no research, but I don't think Roncalli and Dwenger have had significant success at the 5A level, only Cathedral..
  12. All good man. Wasn't trying to "gatcha"...
  13. Cathedral is a 4A enrollment-level school bumped up to 6A because of the Success Factor, but I'm not aware on any p/p school with a true 5A or 6A enrollment. I believe it's a reference to school choice / vouchers..
  14. Just one person's (pretty well designed) guestimation.
  15. I don't think anybody gets their speedos in a wad over swimming.
  16. I think it makes the most sense to group geographically so as many fans can attend games as possible, which helps the schools because they split the Sectional gate. If qbcoach13's group in SW IND for 3A comes to fruition, I would bet it would be at or near the the highest attendance for any 7 game Sectional in the state. GS, MD, HH, SR & Memorial all have big fan bases that travel.
  17. If that's the way the IHSAA sets it up it would be wonderful. So many new and old rivalries. A fan's dream.
  18. Long live Lord Windesmear!
  19. Congrats to all players and coaches Hurley and Paridean.
  20. Yes, a well-deserved honor.
  21. I would be shocked. If there was a time to retire it would have been after the state title in 2022.
  22. That seems about right. They started playing a few years before we came into existence, and have played twice in the same year more than a few times.
  23. Memorial should have its best team since the 2017-2019 era. It will be very interesting to see how the IHSAA sets up the 3A sectionals down here. Mooresville and Martinsville are pretty good 4A programs who are probably both itching to see what they can do without EC standing in their way.
  24. Ev. Memorial has played city rivals Bosse and Central 107 times, and Reitz 102 times. Of the city schools, Reitz and Central have probably played each other the most, but I don't know exact number of times.
  25. AAU also seemed to be an issue of concern
