The Cats will bounce back this week. The air-mailed punt snap right before the half was a killer. Memorial also had a great game plan and executed pretty well.

We support our own! The owner is Randy Hobson, who is a great guy and was a multi-sport standout at VL in early 80's. His kids went to Memorial and his son teaches and coaches for us now. Great pizza & Thai dishes, plus best cocktails in Evansville.

Sounds as if Boyle maybe has an advantage from a talent standpoint, and the recent tournament success is quite impressive. Although we haven't played GS in a few years because we are in different classes, what I can tell you is GS will bring a lot of fans and the team will compete until the final whistle regardless of the score.

The IHSAA doesn't pay for rings. They provide 75 medals for winning and losing teams at state. Any school can order more medals at a minimal cost. The 75 limit undoubtedly keeps the sidelines less cluttered and the post-game presentations more efficient. It also probably also has to do with the (very) modest reimbursements they provide during the latter stages of the tournament. The IHSAA is pretty tight on host site costs, etc. for Regional & Semi-State, where they get the vast majority of the gate receipts. We have typically had to raise $10-12,000 to cover costs when we went to state, not counting rings for the 2 years we won. We are 3.5 hours away and don't own busses, so we have to rent them and pay for hotels, food, etc.

Or just beat them when the opportunity arises...

And curtail tailgating for the 3 city schools that actually bring a large fan base - MD, Memorial and Reitz (when they are good)....

Jasper is always a tough Wk. 1 match-up for Memorial. This year the Tigers are young on the OL/DL, so it wouldn't surprise me if there are some growing pains the first couple of weeks. I'll still take Memorial, but Phil Mickelson (PM) me would take Jasper +7. Castle's D is not what it was in 2022, but I think they will have enough to get North. PM me would take North +16. Reitz will pound Harrison by whatever score they want. PM me would take Reitz -41. MD will beat Central, but I think a young MD QB will make enough mistakes to keep it 2-3 scores close, assuming Central doesn't shoot itself in the foot too many times. PM me takes Central +32. Lincoln is a tough road game and Bosse is an unknown for me. PM me takes Lincoln to cover -27 in a squeaker. TGI Football Season!
