Me too. What the video doesn't show is the ball defected off a shoulder pad or helmet and went straight up into the air 10-15 feet. Bad call, gave them a cheap TO and fluke TD at the same time. Glad we were able to overcome it.

Will be decided next Saturday. I guess the IHSAA isn't doing 2/4/6 and 1/3/5 anymore. If things work out for SW Ind, it might be cool to have 2/3/4 on one day...

Can somebody post the video tweet of the "fumble" that gave EC the TD? I'd like to see what the GID folks think...

Yes, without question MD is the better program. I think you can argue Castle does less with more resources (# of students, weight facilities, program $, etc.) than any of the upper echelon SIAC teams. It's a head scratcher IMO. What Mike Goebel has done at MD is amazing. Prior to him being HC, MD had success, but nothing like what they've had in the 20+ since he's been in charge. Nick Hart was the final piece of the puzzle. A lot of GS people had worked for years to build a program starting at the younger ages. So while he deserves credit, so do a lot of people who had already been working for years before he arrived.

No predictions for me either. I think both teams are very similar - hard-nosed, disciplined, and athletic - and if a kid who had to be carted off a week ago is considering trying to play, then its pretty obvious your kids love their school and team as much as ours do. Here's hoping for a great game. Safe travels to all the EC fans. Regardless of the outcome, I think the EC fans will enjoy Enlow Field. It is one of a kind.

But young kids are also less coordinated and have less strength to withstand an impact and more importantly, control their bodies (head) when they go to the ground. I'm not a big fan of these kinds of youth tournaments. Our feeder program is tied very closely to the feeder schools, so we are often limited because of when our designated season ends. We have on occasion had teams participate in these kinds of things. I know we had a 5th or 6th grade team play in an event a few weeks ago. My biggest concern is the inability of some adults to do what's in the kid's best interest because they are trying to relive their own glory days. I shudder when I see twitter videos of "baby" Derrick Henrys in youth leagues running over much smaller defensive players. Certainly do not know enough about any of these events to judge, just giving my personal thoughts.

Heck no Lysander. I wasn't meaning to infer that at all. I remember seeing that the 2018s had beaten Cathedral and thinking "uh oh". And that was one of the strangest games I've ever seen. Nothing went right for BC. We are still below 600, but our enrollment has increased this year for the first time in a while. We have a new President in charge who is solid and we seem to be making some inroads in attracting some kids from outside of the feeder schools. Had several play on our MS teams this fall. Obviously I was not including MD as they are not a tournament opponent but their post-season success under Coach Goebel is incredible.
