  1. I was disappointed to see Jasper lose this one. I enjoy the rivalry and it would have been a great environment for the final. Plus, I'd much rather drive to Jasper than to Brazil (assuming we beat Central, which is not a given). The Wildcats had a great season and have clearly made a huge impact on the SIAC in just 2 short years.
  2. It has to be a daunting task. Also can't help that GS is just a few miles away and has dominated the county. Isn't he related to Coach Hart somehow (maybe marriage)?
  3. This will the 104th meeting of the schools in football, which ties for the most games Memorial has played against one opponent (with Bosse). Memorial holds the overall lead 61-40-2. Central has won 9 of 16 in the Hurley era (since 2008) at Memorial.
  4. Memorial won 3A in 2017. Memorial was 3A runner-up in 2018 and beat Chatard 42-17 in semi-state (got smacked?) Memorial won 4A in 2019 after being bumped due to SF (first 3A to win in 4A)
  5. @Titan32 I'd be interested to see the career totals. Scheller has to be at the top, right?
  6. Sometimes a good team just lays an egg. I was surprised Northview won, but mainly because Northview wasn't all that impressive when we played them in 2019 and 2020. Looks as though they have improved and will be a big challenge in S24. Sagarin seems to have adjusted a little bit. Next week's games will give a little clearer picture - six games against opponents in 4 different classes.
  7. I'm going to take MD, Memorial, Jasper and Lincoln by 3-4 scores. Bosse should have enough to get by a winless Corydon team, but it could be close. I hate to cheer against the conference, but Memorial needs Boonville to beat Reitz to get home field for the sectional final, so I'm going to take Boonville in a squeaker.
  8. Or muffing KO's and starting backed up to your own goal line 2-3 times. Castle deserved the win. We let the weather conditions dictate the outcome.
  9. I'm not knocking Forest Park. They are by far my favorite team in Dubois County. I just thought it was funny to hear Coach Goebel make it sound as if its going to be a nip and tuck battle for 4 quarters. Maybe I'm way off, but I suspect the game will be close early and then MD will take over.
  10. I'm going to give the 2021 IHSAA Tournament Round 1 SIAC "Lou Holtz Award" to Coach Mike Goebel of the MD Wildcats. On his radio show, he just expressed great concern about the 3-6 Forest Park Rangers. Said they were just a play or two away from winning another 3-4 games. He's the master...
  11. I think this addition to the SF rule may have been done to address the issue... 2-5 Reclassification of Schools in Team Sports Due to Previous Tournament Series Success In Team Sports, when Schools are subject to reclassification, a School’s reclassification shall be dependent on the School’s previous tournament series success; the Commissioner may, however, determine that a School’s previous tournament series success should be applied more often, or less often.
  12. Once those Sectional champ t-shirts hit the market, the Back-2-Back PAC shirts will be thrown into the car wash buckets... Enjoy the next 6 weeks Titan fans. This is your year!!
  13. That won't matter much. After Round 2 of sectionals it should be pretty close because there will be enough SIAC contact with the outside world..
  14. That was a good game between Roncalli and EC.
  15. We did a great job muffing kicks and punts. Granted it was raining sideways but we gave Harrison a bit of confidence going into next week. Overall a poor performance all the way around. Turn the page...
  16. What would the score be if GS played a team made up only with Mike Ditkas?
  17. Love the passion for your team. I watched parts of a couple Miner games this year. MD will have a pretty good size advantage in the trenches.
  18. I think 32 has represented pretty well the last few years. The winner won the next week in all but 3 years during this stretch. 2020 – Southridge (lost at semi-state) 2019 – Heritage Hills (lost at state) 2018 - Memorial (lost at state) 2017 – Memorial (won state) 2016 – Memorial (lost at regional) 2015 – Gibson Southern (lost at semi-state to state champ) 2014 – Heritage Hills (lost at semi-state to state champ) 2013 – Gibson Southern (lost at semi-state to state champ) 2012 – Gibson Southern (lost at semi-state to state champ) 2011 – Memorial (lost at regional) 2010 – Bosse (lost at regional) 2009 – Memorial (lost at state) 2008 – Memorial (lost at state)
  19. This is what I think stinks about being in 4A. No post-season rivals from distant lands... Yep. It was a great rivalry. Tell City and South Spencer have beaten MD a couple of times early on, but not lately.
  20. Memorial also had home for Regional and Semi-State in 2017 and 2019. It just depends on on the year. There is no advantage by sectional number overall from year to year..
