Bob I think has a kid who now is high school age and wants to be able to go to those games Cole Carter from last year who did phenomenal imo also moved during the summer and no longer works for 89.1 I don’t know about Jason lol This year has been I think a mix of students from WVC…which if they are, idk I guess 89.1 is working through one of their class programs trying to find who has the natural golden vocals for radio lol

Feel like there are better ways to handle wanting to replace a coach midseason it’s also the only time I can think of where a HS coach in Indiana was let go mid season. To what I can recall, every other coaching change happens after the season is over for the team

I mean….many years there is an argument that 3A/4A are almost the same or that the best team could be the 3A team…..I don’t think that’s the case this year. i get the impression that this is a great 4A year. Not a knock on the the 3A teams by any means…just that I think 3A is slightly down this year compared to the last 5 years and 4A looks really tough

GS certainly performing above expectations right now which is great considering 3 freshman and a handful of sophomores are starting. Going to return A LOT next year…but this year they are still a young team and they need to just keep growing before we start predicting them to LOS lol The goals for this year I think are to win the conference and win the sectional. Once you get outside of sectionals in 3A, it seems like every team is either 12-0 or 11-1 and it’s very tough sledding. Gotta just win the day as for West Lafayette….I can’t recall a time in the last 10 years they were not ranked in the top 3 of 3A. Year in and year out just a phenomenal program. Definitely can give Chatard a run for its money in the north and I think many are looking forward to an opportunity for that matchup

I’m excited to see how good this VL team is. sectional 30 is going to be really interesting because of it its also the only chance GS has at facing a SIAC opponent this year haha

calpreps had the game like this. i think if the score is this or better for GS….it’s a pretty big statement when it comes to this GS team after losing so many key pieces to graduation

Maybe i think it depends on which cathedral team shows up. vs brownsburg they had many mistakes…and I think for the first quarter or so vs Penn they weren’t in their groove either before finding themselves from an outsiders perspective, cathedral can be the #1 team in the state any day of the week….but they also could show up flat and be their own worst enemy

Do you think that Owensboro will replace South Warren next year on the schedule. As far as I’m aware it’s a 2 year contract and this is year 2. and covid messed up originally trying to schedule Owensboro a few years back. you know the ins and outs of GS more than pretty much everyone on this forum

I’m going to assume that South Warren is #3 in 5A then. Fred Doug is definitely #1 so it makes sense

I can’t seem to find KYs rankings and apparently their Hs forum on bluegrass is a pay to use site now…but Maxpreps has them listed as the #10 team in the state. They are the defending 5A champs and are currently 1-1 and coming off a bye week. I’m pretty sure they were 1-1 last year for this matchup too and had the bye week. this is a tough matchup for Gibson Southern but hopefully it’s a different South Warren team and the score is closer than the 42-7 meeting last year

I’m not a fan of red taping things and having all these rules….but I think I’m this case it’s more to protect the athletes than the college. by giving a clear path the kids don’t have to hide the bag anymore or be hush about any money their family has. In some ways this insulates the athletes while they more/less get into the business world. as for athletes and what they get paid….I’m a free market kind of guy….if someone is willing to pay it…the kid earned it. If the 4th string punter gets crazy advertising deals just because he has a funny name…so be it lol the market moves how the market wants But that’s separate from some of the collectives where the colleges/donors are setting up essentially a minimum salary. Which I want to bring back up to get back on topic Do we think that HS athletics may see an increase in numbers/increase in competitiveness as we are start to see a lower threshold for making money playing a sport? For me personally I probably would have tried different sports/worked harder if I had these same opportunities. Not that the outcome would have changed much lol
