  1. Yeah I was under the impression the 2 on defense would be platooning in and out. But happy for both! It’s not easy getting varsity starts under hart as freshman
  2. Remember the animal of a DT GS had from 2013 to 2015? Well he has a younger brother lol Assuming I got the right kid….but idk who else it could be. His brother I believe played 3 years on DL and started some his freshman year on the OL. Maxpreps shows that he finished with 71 TFL 9 forced fumbles, 2 blocked punts, and 15.5 sacks in 3 years on the DL…which is even crazier when you think back to how much easier the schedule was from 2013-2015….probably 90% of those games were running clocks so he probably only played the first half of most of those 3 years
  3. I think only 1 got the official start and the others rotated in throughout the game…but still impressive. Impressive to have this many freshman earning varsity time under Coach Hart. as for New Albany…..it’s a big mystery. looking at last years game….it was very senior dominant…for what GS has seen of them, only 3 kids on offense who combined for 10 yards total last year are returning. So i guess whatever there is of film this year is about all we have to go off of. They graduated a lot of their playmakers
  4. I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer that. Cathedral seems pretty strong but it’s also very early still.
  5. i think it’s the most ideal week to bring it up. Carmel just lost 17-7 to KY #1 Trinity. South Warren is probably right around that same level of football as Carmel and the other powerhouses of Indy
  6. I mean….that would be wonderful….but also know that a lot of the PAC was young last year and now they have more experience. ….and also South Warren is on the schedule and they are on the level of St Xavier/Trinity/Male in Kentucky….which is the same tier as like Carmel/Warren Central/Brownsburg Not counting GS out of that game…but it’s a game where GS has to play their absolute best football. 2021 GS was top 10 in the state according to sagarin last year…..and they steamrolled us like 42-7 lol
  7. Castle [+14.5] at Mater Dei Central [-28.5] at Bosse Memorial [-15.5] North Reitz [-12.5] at Vincennes Forest Park [-6.5] at Perry Central New Albany [+28.5] at Gibson Southern Pike Central [+25.5] at Tecumseh Princeton [+22.5] at North Posey Southridge [-6.5] at Boonville Heritage Hills [-27.5] at Tell City some of these are tough lines. And while I would love to pick GS….29 points over a team ranked 1 spot lower than THS on sagarin is a lot. THS and New Albany are right next to each other on the rankings….and I don’t necessarily know if home field + 1 week of improvements is worth 21 more points haha I think GS probably wins it 35-14
  8. 11 penalties for like 90 yards. Unforced ones too of unsportsmanlikes and jumping offsides a number of times. also their punt team with bad snaps and bad punts If they didn’t have those mistakes, they very well could have won the game.
  9. I think 5A needs Merrillville. just looking at how this last week went.….there are 31/32 teams in 5A…..11 of them won. That’s pretty bad imo
  10. Not sure where to really start…but I guess I can start with Is New Albany better than Terre Haute South this year?
  11. I’m not going to lie….it was a little too close for comfort. What THS did have was size and speed. That Cottee kid is a grown man amongst boys lol I think it showed that GS had a lot of inexperience and there were 3 freshman who saw playing time I believe, maybe 4…some growing pains but you’ll have that on week 1. end of the day….GS can play all the 5A and 6A schools they want and we will still measure them by how they do against Heritage Hills lol
  12. New Albany (0-1) at Gibson Southern (1-0) GAME TIME: 6:30 pm CT, Jewell Field. COACHES: Steve Cooley, 29-24 in 6th year at New Albany, 151-139 in 28th year overall. Nick Hart, 106-20 in 11th year at Gibson Southern. 2022 SAGARIN RATINGS: Gibson Southern, 79.76, 28th overall, 3rd in 3A. New Albany, 63.58, 114th overall, 19th in 5A. LAST OUTING: New Albany lost to Bloomington South, 34-14. Gibson Southern defeated Terre Haute South, 27-20. OPPONENTS' RECORDS: New Albany 1-0. Gibson Southern 0-1. SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Gibson Southern, 1-0 LAST MEETING: Gibson Southern, 63-24, Aug. 27, 2021. jh PREDICTION: Gibson Southern, 38-14.
  13. I like the idea of this thread highlighting some mega producers I think we should do the same with passing. Probably set the bar at 300 yards passing. Just fun to see new names and teams
  14. After 1 week. For Gibson Southern… Glad the group was tested heavily and for 4 quarters…Early on big plays hurt GS but the defense cleaned things up as the game went on… I think this was a game where both teams are glad they scheduled it and a lot was learned last night. Biggest takeaway from the stat sheet Tanner Boyd is that dude. Never easy replacing a successful QB from previous years…let alone Brady Allen…Kid came out and showed everyone he doesn’t need to be like anyone else. 23-29 for 180 yards and 2TDs….and then he put up another 130 yards on the ground for another 2TDs. I think it’s pretty darn impressive what he did last night in his first career start. On the road, 5A school, 4 Qtrs of a dogfight with a clutch drive to finish the game off with a W…I think if anyone had questions at QB or how the offense was going to be run…he answered them last night
  15. After 1 Week according to Sagarin I’m a little surprised to see the Tri west below GS and Owen Valley but otherwise it’s week 1 and Sagarin isn’t close to being dialed in yet
  16. Looks pretty good to me. Although I might want to push Mater Dei onto this list. i think if you have the #1 2A team you probably should have the #2…same with 3A and West Lafayette
  17. GS 13 THS 13 halftime. unfortunately I’m just listening to the radio broadcast and something has come up requiring me to stop listening it’s been a great close game so far. Going to come down to the wire GS gets the ball to start the 2nd half
  18. Gibson Southern 13 TH South 7 THS really is shooting themselves in the foot. Like they have moments where they can move the ball…but then a facemask or dead ball unsportsmanlike….bad punt snaps/bad punts. Update: Cottee takes a screen for 75 yard TD. Missed PAT GS 13 THS 13
  19. TH South 7 Gibson Southern 6 Early 2nd QB keeper from Boyd for the TD. Botched snapped on PAT.
  20. End of 1st TH South 7 Gibson southern 0 south kind of slow and methodical on offense. GS has ball starting 2nd Qtr
  21. Terra Haute South 7 Gibson Southern 0 took open kick 54 yards and then slowly chipped away to open the game with a score
  22. North Memorial Vincennes Boonville Forest Park Gibson Southern Heritage Hills North Posey Tell City Tecumseh
  23. One of the coaches on here messaged me and clarified why maxpreps is like this. apparently maxpreps is often linked with hudl and even if a kid leaves the team and is removed from hudl, maxpreps won’t recognize it and will keep them on the roster. That + maxpreps will carry kids over who might have even graduated already from my understanding of what they clarified, unless a coach/whoever goes out of their way to make sure maxpreps matches their hudl, then it’s going to be inflated some….and that makes a lot more sense
  24. 117 might not be accurate though. Granted they are a big school…but yesterday I believe I was looking at Mt Vernon and they had listed over 120 kids on the roster. so like….idk maybe the maxpreps pages are accurate but I have a hard time believing Mt Vernon has 120+ kids….kinda like how Gibson Southern typically will list 50-70 kids on maxpreps but that usually doesn’t include the freshman. i know I brought it up but I’m starting to think maybe it’s still too early to discuss roster sizes until people see the teams lined up on the other side of the field on Friday nights
