  1. Gibson Southern (0-0) at Terre Haute South (0-0) GAME TIME: 7:30 pm ET, Clements Field. COACHES: Nick Hart, 105-20 in 11th year at Gibson Southern. Tim Herrin, 29-65 in 10th year at Terre Haute South. 2021 FINAL SAGARIN RATINGS: Gibson Southern, 94.32, 9th overall, 1st in 3A. Terre Haute South, 52.83, 121st overall, 22nd in 5A. SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: No meetings. I have no idea what THS runs schematically….but they are a new opponent and GS has a lot of new faces. Just glad we are finally to week 1
  2. He definitely is one of the elite talents at the LB position….but he’s an off ball linebacker so essentially he’s the RB of the defense and ultimately doesn’t make that big of an impact for winning NFL games with that said…the bears have plenty of cap space and they are trying to do him dirty. They should pay him….this is the type of move that a team deep in cap problems would do…and a team that is a playoff team who is expected to contend….not the team currently projected to have the 1st overall pick
  3. I think yanni is going to turn it on this year….but I can’t help but feel he would have been a better fit in Wisconsin. they just coach up their Lbs so much and over the last 5 years have consistently been one of the elite defenses in college football. But I’m also biased haha
  4. I want to see what BTown Central can do….they were already a very good 3A team and their offense knows how to score points every year outside of Mater Dei I want to think they have the next best shot out of the south. 2A south will be fun to follow this year
  5. I didn’t see another Purdue thread so I figured i should start one to start things off…last night Rickie Collins, QB from Baton Rouge, de-committed from Purdue. it’s highly likely he stays close to home and commits to LSU. this leaves Purdue without anyone for 2023….and more/less opens the door for Brady Allen to take over as likely a redshirt freshman (assuming he redshirts) next year. Mike Alaimo I believe will be a redshirt senior and pretty much everyone else will have graduated. looking good for Allen just has to continue to develop and make the most of this year behind AOC
  6. Covid thing ….there is a thread that discussed the reasoning about it. It was a bit of a shock for a lot of people but 3A welcomes the challenge haha
  7. I mean if we are counting Catholics attending the school GS might have MD beat 😂 Always get a chuckle hearing the phrase “more Catholic kids than Mater Dei since 1974” but otherwise agree. Probably a good 15% of public schools are kids who for some reason or another are there just because they have to be
  8. Agreed. I think with Southridge it’s more that it was a jump from 2A/3A while people more/less see 4A/3A on pretty much the same level. Some years the best 3A team is better than all of 4A. They are pretty close when you are comparing top 10 teams of each. I wouldn’t say I care if memorial goes back to 3A or not. But they have definitely earned their spot and have done more in 4A than Chatard has…which says a lot about the tradition and culture of memorial. i think if anything I want memorial to stay 4A so that when GS joins because of enrollment we get to those matchups and forum chaos again. Memorial Vs GS threads were good fun debates and the build up to either heartbreak or pride on fridays were a thrill.
  9. I’m sure he at least reads this stuff still haha i mean….look at all of us….you don’t spend 10+ years on this forum and just walk away and don’t come back. if you are here you genuinely love following football at any level…and that’s not an easy thing to just give up
  10. Nailed it! nfl owners are also getting wise. Jerry Jones owns everything around the cowboys stadium so that even if there is no football…he is making millions. Other nfl teams have gone this way too. The Packers have Titletown right next to Lambeau. The bears are basically land locked Soldier Field and they are definitely moving…and you’re right it is a publicity stunt by the mayor who simply just doesn’t understand how things actually work. as a packer fan…I’m excited for the change because the bears need new life and I want the old rivalry games back where they were bigger games than the playoffs. Those games are just timeless and it only works if the bears are also good. with that said….the current bears front office would have botched drafting Mahomes and ruined him like they are doing to Justin Fields
  11. Yes because last year Memorial definitely did not make it to semi state as a 4A and they definitely haven’t been one of the top teams in 4A. you have my support when it comes to the possibility that EM could be playing in 5A despite barely having a 3A enrollment….but Memorial belongs in 4A and that’s not even remotely a hot take or something unearned
  12. How many kids on that team have “Ice” as their last name? I think there were 5 listed in that article alone haha
  13. Maybe. The goal every year is a conference championship and then win the sectional. I just don’t want to take it for granted with just how special last years team was and the run they had and turn that into expecting that from every class in the near future At least for me….it’s not lost on me that roughly 6/7 kids from last years team are going to be playing collegiately. 1 D1, 3 D2? And then another 2/3+ guys will be playing D3. it was an incredible amount of talent and hard work put in by that class and they had to absolutely fight tooth and nail against Brebeuf and Lawrenceburg who were both top 5 3A teams im sure the current team knows it won’t be easy and is up for the challenge though and I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
  14. I mean….I’m 27 so 2 decades ago yeah I had no idea about HH or even Gibson Southern 😅
  15. I think more than anything, Heritage Hills makes it work because they have multiple generations of highly successful, very disciplined teams running pretty much the same schemes that only vary a little bit. these kids grow up learning the system…their parents ran the same system…might even have some grandparents soon (if not already) who also ran the same system back in the day. it’s almost like their team chemistry is inherited. There are a lot of things you can point out about HH but the one thing that always stood out to me was seeing 10 players in perfect sync drop down to the 3 point stance before the QB takes the ball. It’s a pretty small thing but for some reason it always left an impression on me to see a team do that little thing just right…you just see everyone drop into their stance and you know in a second or two it’s go time
  16. Not even sure that would happen and I’m not sure there is a demand for it either…only football has big/small iirc….and the benefit of the extra game out of conference allows for schools to pick and choose what matchups they want. GS/Southridge is technically a non conference football game now Wood Memorial also doesn’t have football anymore.
  17. I think if you just flip Southridge and GS color wise that would do it
  18. Like a winner! The only thing I might change is to match the color of the squares to big/small school (unless you have another reasoning for some being white and some yellow)
  19. I take it Heritage Hills hasn’t submitted anything to Calpreps? That’s gotta be the most logical reason for them being outside the top 15 right now?
  20. I mean….wood memorial and Cannelton don’t even have football teams and I’m not sure they were ever part of the PAC
  21. This is the current image being used maybe someone else is really good with digital editing and can make a new one?
  22. I do not and you do not want me to make one either haha. im sure someone could make one in 10 minutes….but digital editing would probably take me a couple of hours
  23. Lawrenceburg definitely knows about this either they are traveling 3 hours for a regional game or someone is traveling 3 hours to them. Long bus rides
