James Franklin is meh to me i like Penn state because I play devy fantasy football and they have a lot of guys I really like and continually pump out great NFL guys who can produce early in their careers. penn state would be better to bench Clifford for Drew Allar imo. The WR talent they have there would be better served but then again Penn state is a year out from a legit playoff run….maybe 2

I don’t want you to hedge against yourself on a bet lol I think Penn state/OSU and then they lose to someone they shouldn’t might even be Maryland. 10-2 also possible and I’m not against it….but I don’t think they are nearly as good as last year
-
For the annoyance, yeah I would put Minnesota over MU. 3 years ago they were 11-2 and last year 9-4. It’s not like they are Rutgers. ultimately though. I see this Michigan team as a 9-3 team and probably finishes #20-25 in the nation hasaan haskins had to have some crazy games last year with 20+ TDs to get them where they were and they had Aiden Hutchinson who was by far and away the best college defender. There is no eye test for this team right now…it’s just riding the success of last year while getting confirmation bias against truly one of the worst schedules so far. They haven’t been tested at all and it’s going to only take 1 close game with a conference opponent for people to move them closer to #10 immediately. 1 loss and they probably drop to 15 because nobody will pick them over OSU at that point. And that’s the problem. The actual best programs can take a loss and still be ranked in the top 10 because they still have something to point at and say “we are still great”. If Michigan loses they have last year.

812FB Top 20 - Week 6

Yeah I feel like CE is trying to recapture some of that momentum they had in the previous 15+ years. Just 1 really off season last year and now it seems like they are on their heels a bit but still fighting to regain control. -
I think people are too hung up on last year and how much of an impact haskins/Aiden had for that team. i just don’t think they have proven anything yet…I sure as hell don’t think they should be ranked 4th in the country. i know Penn state has taken some losses out of conference but at least they schedule those games. there are 7 teams currently 3-0 in the B1G and 4 who are 2-1. the teams Michigan has played are right now a combined 0-9 against FBS opponents this year and have 2 wins against FCS schools the fcs schools are Duquesne University who is 1-3 and lost to Hawaii by just 10 points. Their 1 win was against an NAIA school that is typically a .500 team and Central Connecticut State who is 0-3 and lost 28-3 against Connecticut….a game that was 7-3 at the half and 14-3 entering the 4th Michigan loaded with 4 and 5 star talent is playing teams that can barely win against bad FCS schools. im just not going to give them any credit until they do something worth noting. All the teams that are 3-0 right now Penn State with #37 SoS Ohio State with #69 Indiana with #102 Maryland with #105 Rutgers with #116 Minnesota with #130 Michigan with #131 it’s that bad I also wouldn’t be surprised if Maryland gives them all they can handle. Maryland just happens to have Tua’s little brother at QB and he can sling it.

812FB Top 20 - Week 6
DumfriesYMCA replied to 812FB's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Part of these rankings is recent performance. CE was unranked last week I think but now moving up with the W Memorial was held back the first 2 weeks with losses due to not having all of their guys. I think this is a list that is expected to change over time more than other rankings and it’s probably more suited towards gauging momentum. Linton is 5th but it would be a tall task for them to beat most of these teams I think. They could get it done still but I don’t think we can look at it as like “well _____ is ranked higher so they would win” -
The eye test means nothing for Michigan playing who they have played. My problem is we have seen this too many times with Michigan. Until they can beat out of conference ranked opponents I won’t say they deserve to be ranked just under OSU. Michigan under Harbaugh has consistently been able to pull in 5star guys and plenty of 4 star guys…..and they end up underperforming with them. I bet 70% of the B1G would outperform Michigan if they had the exact same recruiting classes as Harbaugh has had.
-
Michigan should be lower if Purdue was 3-0 right now they wouldn’t be ranked that high and Purdue has played better teams than Michigan by far. i think Michigan is 4th right now. Behind OSU Penn state and Mn. Arguably Wisconsin too but that’s just my bias showing

812FB Top 20 - Week 6

I like this list feels pretty spot on as I go down the line -
He was the only one who was good enough to get HH to change up their scheme on offense a little. The level of versatility that team had was nuts and it was just crazy to run the spread and more pass happy concepts but then at a moments notice switch it up and use the wish/flex and milk the clock completely dry. Very hard to find a QB who can do this for a team. in some ways, I see some comparable things between GS and it’s QBs. Everyone will agree that Brady Allen was by far and away the best QB GS has ever had. No question to it. but nick sellers from 2013-2015 played some truly phenomenal ball. He set pretty much every passing record at GS before Brady played and on top of that he was a big bodied runner who put up 36 rushing TDs in 37 games around 1400 rushing yards. All around just great at everything. to me at least, that’s what exciting about Boyd at QB now…we have the type of QB that is a true dual threat but one that can still light it up in the pass game.
-
I don’t know if this is the week to make any changes or if this is the right move to make. i mean…I don’t really care who it is….starting a freshman at QB in their first start against GS…not ideal at all. This is a matchup meant more for the upperclassmen imo. But if he were to play and do well…well at least HH knows they got their guy for the next 3 1/2 years. pros and cons for sure

So is Chatard though tbf Outside of cathedral i would have to think the next 2 toughest opponents they have are out of state in Cincy elder and Brothers out of Michigan they just play a great instate schedule too so people don’t really say anything GS has just 1 game out of state Chatard has I think 3 -

Either way. i think SoS is kinda meh right now week 9/10…just in time for sectionals is when I would probably look at the SoS more seriously. At least then there is a full season of work from all teams and it’s not skewed as much to 1 matchup -

Sagarin is the only one for the 3 that doesn’t compute out of state im sure maxpreps and calpreps just have a tracker on between state matchups and what those results have been throughout history. for your team in Chatard sagarin probably the least effective to look at. I think Chatard usually has 2/3 out of state opponents. i find myself personally liking Massey Rankings the most. They give an offensive and defensive rating on top of an overall. The interface just isn’t the most user friendly while maxpreps is probably the easiest to maneuver -
2022 3A outlook

I wouldn’t put too much faith in maxpreps SoS right now. It’s too early for it to truly show anything because 1 really bad ranked team on maxpreps will throw it all out the window. Gibson Southern has played 3 5A schools in the first 4 weeks and then played Washington. With the way maxpreps does their SoS…the 1 game against Washington is the difference between having an SoS rating of 14.5ish and what they currently have of the -8.4. because maxpreps has a system that goes negative, Washington graded as a -52 on their rating…and quite literally took an SoS that was top 5 for 3A and made it look like it was well below average. this is happening across the board for their rankings. Only 4 games logged in their system (until tomorrow when it’s 5) so SoS is extremely skewed. It only takes 1 large negative team ranking to wreck a teams score and because of that most of 3A shows a negative SoS ranking -
Water Cooler Topic: Are College Athletes Above Being Booed?

If you know the type of person/teammate Spencer Rattler is you would think he hasn’t been booed enough haha. -
Have to respect that if that’s the case.
-
I see he has a Twitter but I haven’t seen him in a while on here. Someone who knows him should tell him to come back haha when I first joined the board some 10 years ago he had a write up for every HH game I believe with detailed history and everything. And everyone kind of understood that you didn’t make a thread topic about a game if it was HH because he would take care of it.

Can we get some info about the north posey heritage hills game? it was a tightly contested battle the entire game and then went to 2OTs but I haven’t seen anything on it. sounds like it was the best game of the week
