  1. Oh sorry I’ll just go die and stop following this team even though I’ve listened to every single game that I wasn’t able to attend over the last 10 years….I’ve also listened to every Nick Hart show during that time, have read probably every newspaper article….I even pay for the courier press simply to follow Indiana football and the team. It’s probably a bit much but it’s a simple passive hobby that makes me happy. Shoot me for not driving 500 miles one way every Friday and opting to just watch highlights on Twitter/hudl while listening to the game on whichever station has the clearest broadcast (it’s not always 89.1) also damn me for repeating some observations that others on here have witnessed in person that have been discussed with me in private conversations. I guess if it’s not from their mouth and just repeated out of mine it’s no good last thing….Coach Hart quite literally said the quote above this week discussing how there were 3 times in the first half of the HH game that they couldn’t convert for a score. so funny right
  2. Some people are arguing about getting back to old school football others are arguing about tax dollars others are arguing about player safety yeahhhh….we are a bit all over the place lol
  3. They are all playing great and the rotation coming in also pretty dang good. The freshman is so impressive. Grew up with his older brother and that family sat right in front of me in church…just a great family and he’s been ahead of his age physically for years and now it’s really showing GS hasn’t updated their stats yet on maxpreps, but coming into this week the freshman led the team with 11 TFL through the first 5 games and I’m pretty sure he added a sack and a few more this last week. i mean..I don’t want to talk too much about him considering he is like 14/15 and just a freshman….but dang…against the schedule GS has played….kid has proved 10x over already that he earned that spot on varsity
  4. If we move to seeding it would entirely be up to the coaches of the given class. Maybe they break it down by regional or semi state…who knows but when coaches are asked about the topic they often can heard saying something along the lines of “if 15 wrestling coaches can sit down and seed an entire tournament across multiple weight classes with a hundred kids then I think it’s possible for football coaches to sort out seeding a sectional”
  5. I seem to find myself enjoying the other state championships that don’t include 6A. Have been a number of great games with great teams that are on the list after the top 5. Especially 3A…and 3A is never going to crack the top 5. Once in a lifetime special 3A teams would barely make the top 10 on most rankings…but they sure do have a lot of competitive teams who put on great games and are worth following
  6. I think I’m going to have to read over this study when I find some time. im curious to see why soccer had no increase to acl injuries but football did. Would also like to know what injuries were documented seeing as they are talking about torso and upper extremities seeing an increase. im not trying to discredit it by any means…but that short synopsis has left me questioning their process as it seems they are including injuries that might not have had anything to do with the field conditions. The end result shows more injuries but does that mean those injuries were influenced into existence because of the turf?
  7. Maybe. GS needs to figure out how to finish off drives. Team is doing great but one notable difference lately has been the offense getting the redzone and for one reason or another they can’t score. It’s been something that Coach Hart has talked about this year as something they need to improve on still. Defensively….I really like where this defense sits right now. DL is making huge plays…LBs are doing their jobs. DBs coming up big and also showing up in the run game making huge stops on the outside.
  8. Depends on the opponent and the age of the players I think for the most part…at least for many Ill use Gibson Southern as an example because I am most familiar with them….they have put a running clock on a number of opponents over the last 10 years…Coach Hart is one of the best coaches in the state and cares about safety more than most to the point that even practices are half pads/quick whistle/no tackling to the ground. against teams that are generally smaller in size physically, Varsity almost never plays the 2nd half at all unless it’s a running clock. Maybe the special teams still gets reps for punt or kick off but even then that’s a stretch against larger schools with more physical players however I have noticed the varsity will still start the 3rd Qtr and try to milk out the clock. JV won’t get work until the 4th. if the starters on varsity are young and it’s their first year of experience they may get 1 drive in the 3rd before getting pulled ultimately it’s up to the coach to decide and I would think most do a great job of this. This is just one example of how a coach does it from what I have noticed over 10 years as a fan. It ultimately factors in a lot of different things and not every matchup that is a running clock is the same….and there is no rule that says a team should pull their starters to put in smaller less athletic players….especially if you are playing a 5A/6A school…at that point putting in freshman might be a bigger risk for injury than leaving in established starters
  9. We should probably make the distinction that NFL non contact injuries are not exactly comparable to HS. Size speed strength are at an entirely different level. the most common injury for Hs football is probably sprained ankles from running on uneven surfaces. Nfl teams also have entire departments dedicated to preparing the field to make sure the conditions are as ideal as possible. basing an argument against turf using Nfl data is so flawed.
  10. I feel like you answered your own question. only thing constant in life is change
  11. If I was a betting man i would still put my money on a mom of boys knowing how to get a stain out of something over the teenager lol i think (or hope) everyone can do their own laundry but let’s be honest here….if the teenagers were left to wash their own jerseys, every team would have a 4th school color of green or brown lol
  12. Another thing we are not considering Parents, but mostly moms, who have to get the mud and grass stains out of white jerseys. do you think anyone who does the laundry for the kids wants to go back to grass? Lol
  13. Weird I was surprised it was the game of the week to begin with. Every camera is going to be at the Reitz/memorial game and we all know it
  14. Come on now. anyone who has played on grass in Indiana knows that by October/early November it’s basically like playing in concrete. The grass has stopped growing…gets cold and wet….grounds managers can’t really fix anything either. It’s nice on the grass in august when it hasn’t been destroyed and patched up 10x over and everything is level and it’s still warm. 2 months in though it’s just dirt spots and a few ankle killers scattered around
  15. It happened…just once in like 28 years or something though at the time (2010) score was like 35-34 after OT I believe. We went like 4-6 that year and made tshirts of the scoreboard of that game with big letters saying “enough said” like we had won the conference or something. The following year (last year before Hart) we got whooped like 27-0 in the jungle lol. I still remember walking behind the trees to the practice field and coach yelling at us because we allowed 2 scores in the final 2 minutes of the half. Then we opened the 2nd half with like 3 failed onside kicks in a row because we were doing it wrong and had to redo it. It was a long bus ride home lol
  16. Week 7 Games Bosse at Mater Dei [-35.5] Central at Harrison [-12.5] North at Vincennes [-7.5] Reitz at Memorial [+14.5] Jasper at Castle [-13.5] Mount Vernon at Gibson Southern [-27.5] North Posey at Forest Park [+27.5] Princeton at Boonville [-43.5] South Spencer at Southridge [-41.5] Perry Central at Mitchell [+35.5] thank you for EM +14.5 I’ll get at least 1 this week lol
  17. The difference for homestead/LCC is also a pretty large change
  18. The day Princeton on a bad year upsets GS on a great year….oh man…I might just quit following after that. Not sure I could take the pie I would be served lol ive been dunking on Princeton football for at least 15 years now…and Others have been doing it long before me. I mean…..it’s honestly getting to the point that if Princeton did win, they would make Tshirts of it with a picture of the scoreboard saying “enough said” on their way to a 3-7 season like GS did when we beat Heritage Hills in 2010
  19. Dang. I mean the score was 13-0. Not a lot of offense to begin with haha
  20. Assuming GS can take care of business vs Mt Vernon this week it would pretty much be a guarantee that it’s coming down to that matchup. im really curious to see how their defense matches up with GS. They have held their opponents pretty well outside of a very strong linton team but I think that game turned into optional defense in the 2nd half. They held a very strong SR group to 13 in their loss too. A loss is a loss…but that game was 13-0 so they were holding their own
  21. I mean…I could see how people in Evansville would like Mel
  22. My in-laws are from Owensboro and they refer to GS as just Gibson also.
  23. 3 weeks left. Tecumseh plays spring valley too
  24. I would include Vincennes And Tri west for the south. Owen Valley also still undefeated but idk if I think they could get over any of the 3 north teams you mentioned also Guerin can’t be overlooked considering how much of a fight they gave Chatard.
