  1. I hope you didn’t get your education from Bishop Dwenger High School. I’m sure reading and comprehension are taught early and often at that upstanding institute. On second thought, based on your past posts there’s no way.
  2. Did you not catch my initial comment that in my opinion CG probably had "top 5 talent"? You are making my case for excluding them when you say they could have easily won 4 games.
  3. So this brings up an interesting question. What's the bigger factor......... enrollment or roster size? My opinion is roster size which to me equates to depth. Maxpreps lists the following roster sizes for each school: New Pal 66 Avon 79 Bburg 106 Cathedral 85 Carmel 123 Warren 112 Chatard 81 Homestead 114 W. Lafayette 57 East Noble 52 New Prairie 70 South Adams 44 Some of these with the high numbers could include all 4 grades. I cannot confirm that. But it appears that Chatard's roster is approx. equal to both Cathedral and Avon. And possibly some of those that have all 4 grades listed. I'm not explaining myself very well but don't you think that having 81 on your roster gives you enough depth that the"pound for pound"argument does not hold water?
  4. I explained what my "honorable mention" list was based. It had nothing to do with the order of ranking in the state. It was giving recognition in each class teams that will be "players" in the tournament.
  5. You are trying to defend a 1 - 4 football team. 1 win...... 4 losses. Even the coaches in this week’s IFCA poll agree. Not a single vote from any of the coaches.
  6. 1. This is my poll with my opinions. 2. My opinion is that Chatard and W. Lafayette are better than any 4A team. 3. See thread on Homestead if you don’t understand that Sagarin is not a true poll.
  7. Most of the “honorable mention” teams are there because they will be heavy players in their class come tournament time. As far as Center Grove is concerned, no matter how much talent you have, and I think they have top 5 talent, if you haven’t figured out how to win after 5 games you are not worthy of recognition.
  8. 1. New Palestine 2. Avon 3. Brownsburg 4. Cathedral 5. Carmel 6. Warren Central 7. Homestead 8. Valparaiso 9. Lafayette Jefferson 10. Fishers 11. Chatard 12. Hamilton Southeastern 13. Merrillville 14. West Lafayette 15. Fort Wayne Snider Honorable Mention: Carroll (FW), Westfield, North Central, Fort Wayne Dwenger, East Noble, East Central, New Prairie, Evansville Memorial, Mishawaka Marian, Lewis Cass, Indianapolis Lutheran, South Adams.
  9. Noblesville has already played all 3. Lost by 21, 20 & 20.
  10. IU should beat Rutgers. They have a decent shot vs Maryland, and a punchers chance vs Nebraska and NWstern, but the rest of the schedule is unwinnable. Mich, Mich St, Penn St.
  11. Agree with everything. ND is lucky the score was even close. ND QB was scrambling out of the pocket even when he had pocket protection. But, I'm not sure it's really Notre Dame that's bad or just a case of one of the SEC's elite kicking butt!
  12. South Adams (71.79) is a 2-point favorite (1.51-point home-field advantage) against Homestead (68.32) Perfect!
  13. They actually play all 9 weeks in conference. The HCC did this from ‘06 - ‘13. It makes it impossible for the algorithm to rate teams until tournament play. Sagarin continues all the way through to the championship, so remaining teams each week continue to be rated.
  14. Probably not. But I’m sure the referee saw the players on the field before anyone from either team had touched the blocked ball. I watched Avon win a game about 20 years ago vs Zionsville when they picked up their own blocked FG and ran it in for a TD.
  15. Your question is somewhat irrelevant. The rankings are based on not only who you played last, but what your past opponents also did.
  16. Yes, you ARE hurt by only playing a full conference schedule. At least by Sagarin. HCC was that way for years and couldn't prove anything until tournament time. The SAC has 4 quality teams and 6 bottom feeders. Unfortunately everyone plays everyone, so the bottom feeders are going to hold down your strength of schedule. Nobody believes that any of the top four in the SAC couldn't beat Noblesville or Pike, the two last place teams in the other leagues, but their rating is boosted because of oppositions SOS. Come sectional time someone is going to get the chance to beat up on Noblesville and then the sectional winner will get either Carmel or one of 3 HCC teams in the regional. You'll have to wait until then to prove your point. I personally don't think you can put the entire league on par with the other two, but the top 4....... certainly!
  17. Last I checked Warren is #1 in most if not all of the polls, so that’s pretty good respect right there. And, all this talk about Avon but I watched a darn good Brownsburg team that was just a play or 2 away from winning last Friday.
  18. I think other than CG/NC you are correct. CG is clearly the better team and will win by 10.
  19. BD's strength of schedule. Southport will be severely tested this week against Chatard. If the Cardinals give the Trojans a game I might be swayed.
