  1. Solid road win for the Hoosiers...JUST enough defense to hang on. And becoming bowl eligible is a bonus...even at their best in recent years, they were not in a spot to be bowl eligible at this point in the season. On a personal note, I am so happy for Coach Allen; love seeing him lead this team to this point; definitely something to build on.
  2. From the one angle, it does appear o be a pick play. What is hard to tell though is that the other defender is really close too. Did they run into each other???? There is another angle from a phone that is not really clear, but it does look more like the receiver not only contacted him, but maybe a blindside hit?
  3. I NEVER in my life thought I would EVER root for the visiting team at Lambeau.
  4. I will say USC is the perfect place to land for a guy that has baggage following him. 🤣🤣🤣
  5. I think so too, but I will add that we were in row 51 in the Northeast corner of the endzone, and he could CLEARLY be heard during a time out ripping the refs. I was impressed he had that much volume to him. I have been known to have my voice carry pretty far, but I am not sure I could match his lol as far as Urban goes...I agree he is a great coach, but for some reason, this OSU team is playing MUCH better than the teams of the last couple years. They are not letting underdogs hang around this year, they are putting them out of their misery early. I would add that it does seem that there is enough baggage that follows him now that ND admins will stay away.
  6. I agree with everything you said except about Saturday. I don’t see Michigan beating them. I think Harbaugh is hanging on by a thread. I also think Shea Patterson struggles too often on the big stage. My hope is that ND has a similar game plan as Wisconsin did against Michigan. Sure the big house will be a hostile environment, but it isn’t “Georgia hostile”. The Irish are used to the big stage games.
  7. Including the original post. I am ok with a change in the time between one sport and another. I just think that waiting until the State finals have been played is going too far. I get that you feel everyone in the Winter would start at the exact same time, BUT there are other advantages gained, so you trade one set of advantages for another. Maybe a two week break from the end of your Fall sports season? as far as overuse injuries, I would disagree to an extent. MOST of the injuries we are seeing are a result of repeated use in one sport athletes, ie pitchers with arm injuries, bball players with knee and ankle injuries from the required movements happening 12 months a year. In fact, even the NBA has studied the types of injuries, numbers and severity. The bball only injuries far outnumbered those of the multi sport athletes, and they were far more severe. As far as the pregame shoot around, the IHSAA has done a better job of clarifying the language. Instead of the word “practices”, the rules say “practice days”. The rules are also very clear that the scrimmage day and any game day will NOT count toward a practice day.
  8. NBCSN Chicago posed the question this am....trade for Cam Newton? As a Packers fan, I would LOVE to see this happen; right up there with the hire of John Fox. lol
  9. This is a great read; not just for seniors, but for all players. https://outsidethehuddle.net/2019/10/21/coachs-corner-an-open-letter-to-seniors-on-the-eve-of-the-postseason/?fbclid=IwAR2KpPyMFlWAQ8eCx8sDeeSdzhD5zBbtw8Nu30nCoHPv_yZZlnD_b6wzSMg
  10. We had a kid a few years ago wearing one that was flagged for improper equipment. The white hat told our coach he could not see if the kid had a mouthpiece in or not.
  11. I am confused....how did this venture into the concept of a kid playing two sports at the same time? I never got that from the original post. I still don’t like the idea at all of the original post though. For smaller schools, there are key athletes for Winter sports playing a Fall sport. To make them wait would only have one effect from the small schools.....delaying the start of the entire season. The other issue that comes into play is practices.......to transition from a Fall sport to a Winter sport, an athlete needs to get 5 practices in now. That would change to whatever the number is for athletes not in a Fall sport....is it 10 practices? Another issue is balance......there are no limits at all for kids starting a Fall sport, so why do Winter and Spring sports have to wait for the State Championships to be over before they get their athletes? ESPECIALLY if it is 5 weeks, or even 7 if the 10 practice rule is in place. And game days cannot count toward that number. In my mind this is a solution that is looking for a problem. And if there actually is a problem of some type, this would equate to “killing a fly with a cannon” as my old professor, Ed Schilling used to say,
  12. Leave it up to the schools. Every school I have been at has allowed kids a week off. I think forcing kids to wait until the State finals are over would mean a LOT of kids would have to wait 5 weeks, some even a full month; too much time in my opinion.
  13. I will give credit to Muda.....I too was skeptical of the intent here. I do believe he was sincere in wishing these teams well. I will also add that as a coach, some of the toughest/best coaching I did was on teams that won very few games. I have never been a part of an team that has gone winless. I applaud the coaches and players who kept showing up and kept working through the adversity.
  14. Bye week 🙂 I agree that their chances of being in the playoff are fading fast, BUT if Georgia can beat Florida and Alabama, it could help. Funny thing is that just like in years past, the chips are falling in favor of the Irish moving up. Had Georgia not lost to SC, who knows? 🙂 I look for Michigan to give the Irish a tough game, but am counting on Shea Patterson being Shea Patterson. I am think Harbaugh is regretting the loss of. Brandon Peters at this point.
  15. I was hoping the Lions could get a win at home, but the Vikes are just a step behind Green Bay, and within striking distance. Going to be fun watching it unfold.
  16. The Raiders offensive line has been impressive. The Packers were not able to get any pressure on Carr. The defense basically made just two plays the whole game; the 4th down stop on the goal line, and the pick in the end zone. The offense has been a different story though. This is the best they have looked all season. What I really like is seeing the number of players that have been involved, and the running game has been solid.
  17. Just try not to kill your left tackle in the process. 🤣
  18. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/10/17/elijah-cummings-dies-baltimore/ I have taken some time to read more about Mr. Cummings. I may not have agreed with much of what he said, and some of it was pretty off the wall stuff, I think we still cannot forget what men like him lived through in this country. I give people like him a little more leeway as far as their stances on issues go. I cannot even begin to imagine the world he was a part of. He, along with so many others were beaten, bruised, and bloodied for taking a stand. And I think his passing is worth noting here. RIP Mr. Cummings.
  19. I agree with that as well, but I would also say there are standards that do need to be met that were not. My educated guess would be that Kelly thought it was worth the risk to take knowing it would go down to the wire for him to do all that was needed.
  20. IU has an alumni camp, Camp Brosius, in Elkhart Lake, WI. I worked a couple of Summers there in college. During the REALLY busy race weekends in Elkhart, we would head out to Kiel. There was one bar that an old man named Bob owned. It was attached to his house. Bob had all kinds of gag toys at the boy that he loved showing off. He also had $2 pitchers of Old Style....hard to beat on a college budget. 🙂
  21. I am still not sure about Frisco. Jared Goff caught lightning in a bottle last season. I think we are seeing what happens when NFL defenses adapt. I still give Green Bay and even NOLA the nod based on strength of schedule.
