My memory may be a bit foggy on this, but for some reason, I am thinking the IHSAA or maybe even St. Francis said no more high school games. We played Dwenger in the playoffs, and with the rain, the hashmarks were difficult to see. College hashmarks are narrower. USF had painted them on the field. The goal posts are narrower too, and that could impact a game. USF does not have high school posts that can easily go up. But I think it was ultimately the seating situation that lead to a decision to not play there.

Ouch……visiting family in Wisconsin and just saw the score. That is brutal. The one thing that is noticeable with Ryan Day compared to even Urban Meyer……..Day knows how to get his team to bury a team like IU, where it always felt like Meyer’s teams were just as superior….they played just well enough to pull off a win in most years.

Political issues that deal directly with education are ok to an extent; because for many urban programs and districts, the impact of political moves have impacted them in many ways, and athletics have felt the impact in a ripple effect. Like most large cities, it seems to be a standard. The problem with just saying "look who the people voted for Mayor" has nothing to do with the politics in education. To clarify, @LaSalle Lions 1976 mentioned the cities with multiple schools; Indy has IPS; where there are also a couple of charter schools with teams; but none of those teams are seeing any level of success; and it's been several years since any of them have seen any level of success. There are 8 Township districts; 2 with 2 high schools, along with Speedway and Beech Grove schools. In Fort Wayne, there are 2 districts with 4 or more schools; FWCS and EACS (Heritage, Woodlan, New Haven, and Leo). Snider has been a traditional power for a long time. In EACS, Harding, prior to closing had some success as well. Leo is currently doing well, and the current football team has a chance to make a deep run, with East Noble to face this week as a big challenge. What I see as a factor here is investment in the programs, along with a run of something that RARELY gets mentioned; having the jimmys and joes on the field. Shifts in population are a factor as well.

There is a band across Central Indiana. From about Lafayette to Marion along the North of that band, and the Northern half of Marion County at the Southern end; you will see teams regularly switch from the North to the South and Vice Versa in the smaller classes. Marion has been in our sectional in years past, but when they went to Semi State a couple years ago, they were in the Southern half of sectionals.

What year is Parker Spellacy? he is a solid TE; something you don't see much of in high school any more.

If the Cowboys lose today, it will be a tough loss. The drive at the end of the half was a killer. They got HOSED on the 3rd down play. There is no way Prescott did not get in. On an extremely rare occasion, you can see from a sideline camera behind the offense that his knees never touched before he crossed the goal line. Two other turnovers in the red zone are killers too though. Fun game to watch if you like defense though.

Fields is a difference maker. Another player that stood out was Roquan Smith. Man he can hit; reminds me of Singletary. As far as the Packers go; still take way too many deep shots. It's weird to think they are just not very good at it. When the run game and short passing game are going, it does open up an occasional deep route. 196 yards rushing as a team on the day....not too shabby. The Packers played well with some significant injuries going in the game, and losing Savage during the game was tough. I will cut the red zone defense some slack with injuries. How about Kenny Clark? 2 HUGE sacks (that's what she said) late in the game. Jaylon Smith saw some action and had one good QB pressure that made Fields throw early. If he is used as a rusher, they will be ok, but they had him in coverage a few times; not his strong suit. On to play WTF.....errr WFT lol at Lambeau......will be there in person, so the summary at this time next week MIGHT be a bit more entertaining.

He had been a thorn in Saban's side. Seems like he may have some options. It seems rare that 2 big time programs like LSU and USC are looking for a head coach in the same year.

I don't recall his name coming up for any jobs. Many factors beyond their control......no question. I have been saying it for years, even before the conference had divisions.
