  1. A more accurate count has the total taxpayer funding of the ArchIndy schools at $38.6 Million. The total for the last 3 years is $110 Million. So, the question again is, should a system that is allowed to discriminate for religious reasons be able to continue taking taxpayer money?
  2. On a smaller scale than the Moon Landing Lego set, but still
  3. That appears to be an edit by the reporter. The Cathedral website says "Catholic identity". https://www.gocathedral.com/about/news-marketing/school-news/news-post/~board/homepagenews/post/dear-cathedral-family
  4. One other thought on this witch hunt; The strict interpretation of this mindset is that he also has to exclude non Catholics from working in these schools as well. After all, living the Catholic faith includes the obligation of attending Mass every Sunday and receiving Holy Communion.
  5. Cathedral received $1.14 Million in tax dollars this past school year. Roncalli received $1.75 Million. Should schools that discriminate continue to receive tax dollars? I did some checking as well. I looked at the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese. I am sure I missed a few, but the schools I did count, add up to over $30.5 Million in tax dollars. These schools and more are all subordinate to the Archbishop, and since Cathedral has chosen that route as well, I included them.
  6. And, Cathedral does react differently https://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/cathedral-high-school-follows-archdiocese-orders-fires-teacher-in-same-sex-marriage
  7. True...I was speaking more to the population of Cathedral being more “traditional”, and more likely to take issue with the school if it were to make a similar decision.
  8. If this were a place like Cathedral, no doubt there would be a negative impact. But with Brebeuf being what Brebeuf is and really, always has been, it will feel no impact at all. The letter from not only the leadership of Brebeuf , but the leadership of the Jesuit community in the Midwest, make a very strong case for why the school chose this path. I have no doubt the decision of the Archbishop will be overturned at some point in the appeal process.
  9. There are some situations where money does apply, but it has been very rare that I have heard any talk of it. As far as where it would apply, there are contracts the US agreed to with Native American groups, that allowed their property to be mined for oil. The amounts were specific enough to say, we as a nation owe them.
  10. I did, but my router is in my basement and just out of reach for the grill to connect.
  11. Good Lord that has been me. Got a new Traeger pellet grill, and have not had a chance to use it until tonight...and it still rained at the end of the night.
  12. I LOVE a good Western. Unforgiven is my all time favorite. Yellowstone is on my list to binge watch though.
  13. From the people I have talked with that support the concept of reparations, it has little to do with money and more to do with laws that are in place that put people of color at a disadvantage. There is also a hope to erase the mindset that leads to this kind of thing.
  14. What is sad is that situations like this are going to be highly politicized. Remember that there is an additional step in the appeal process, thanks to the General Assembly. Parents and athletes can appeal IHSAA decision to the Department of Education. Remember the days when State Superintendent Tony Bennett was on record as saying students should be allowed to transfer to any school for any reason, including athletics. Something else to keep in mind...that Superintendent position will be appointed by the next Governor. And that person will be appointing the staff at the DOE.
  15. Oh I get it, trust me. I am just trying to get people to understand what the predominant mindset is in this day and age. It is a tough argument to sell to someone making less than $40,000 a year though, when we see how many corporations that paid zero dollars in taxes?? As I have stated on previous threads, Walmart is seeing record profits, but a large number of employees are having to get assistance to make ends meet. That is just one example. The typical response has been, don’t like it? Get a better job. But how many industries are we seeing record shortages? Senator Bray told me that 51% of Indiana employers went with unfilled positions last year...and that excluded school districts. There is a problem that we have to wake up to in this country. Socialism is sen as a viable alternative to what we are seeing now. I don’t like it either, but many employers, especially large ones like Amazon, WalMart, and IBM, to name a few, better wake up, or change is a comin, as they say. We all know here, as crazy as she sounds, AOC has a LOT of support. And I have said this since 2015; had Bernie been allowed to win the nomination, he would have defeated Trump. Not a fan, but those are two facts that cannot be ignored, or brushed aside.
  16. Here is the challenge though; convince those people they are ok, or that things are not as bad as they seem. To maybe counter the claim though; this is a comparison among Western countries. https://www.prb.org/povertyintheunitedstatesandotherwesterncountries/
  17. So, what is the excuse for Roy Moore? Or how about Dennis Hastert? Hell, even Trump, the idol of countless Republicans cheated during each of his three marriages. And one of his biggest fans, Alex Jones was just busted for sending child porn to Sandy Hook victims. I am sure there are others that claimed to be “conservative” that have done some bad stuff too. Yes, there are a lot of people across the political spectrum that do sickening, gut wrenching things; neither side of the aisle can claim the moral high ground, un;like what is being perpetuated in this meme. The sad fact is that a meme like this creates yet another fake division, giving people justification to hate one side even more.
  18. And dad also realized that by doing this, his daughter could easily rule everyone in her generation. 😄 https://www.theonion.com/cool-dad-raising-daughter-on-media-that-will-put-her-en-1819572981?utm_campaign=SF&utm_source=Facebook&utm_content=Main&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&fbclid=IwAR2yy-CL3cDH-RAZj7TgzDDiaKmstP9IUX454EWGxcEhAXeUFNWKPhBZ-2s
  19. That’s odd. You don’t mention a single thing about the one person’s behavior until now? I have never seen you spend an ounce of time here criticizing the President’s behavior. But you focus so much on the other? Interesting You have a higher standard of expectation for a female soccer player than you do the President? Also interesting Never said a thing about previous administrations. Buuuuuut, if you want to go there, let’s do it. As I said, it is a big reason why Rapinoe is even a topic of conversation. The kneeling at the anthem was going to be a thing of the past, well on its way of disappearing....untilllllllllll... Never have seen a president react the way this one does to critics. I don’t recall the very high number of resignations/firings in one administration, especially in the short time span they have occurred. I also don’t recall the number of convictions or indictments in other administrations.
