There is this as well....gotta find the positive things, right? 😄

Just like in most situations, it's the guy that retaliates that gets caught. If reviews are in place, and if the goal is to get calls right, things like this should be reviewed; just like the "roughing the passer" call on Zadarius Smith yesterday; even Aikman said the goal of review is to get things right, and that one was not.........in college, every play is reviewed automatically. On another note, the NFC West teams all won their games. That division will be interesting to watch this year.

I honestly do not remember a time when all the teams in the North lost the same week of the season.....so there's that. 😄

Leo @ East Noble
Irishman replied to Knightsfan_01's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Being a spectator, retired from the sidelines, I have seen both teams play. I give Leo the edge in this one. Their o line is just dominant. They are big, strong, and move well. They are also very physical. They are looking to punish anyone in their way. I also know from experience that few coaches prepare their team for a game better than Coach Amstutz and his staff. They do a great job of putting defenses in a bind with formations and motions, knowing where you have to set your strength on defense. Looking forward to seeing a great game. -
One game, but bringing this up again. So many mistakes, bad penalties, misaligned...things you do not expect to see........these are the kinks you work out in pre season games. No one played well in this one. The questions surrounding the impact of the Rodgers drama and the impact on the team will certainly come up in the days to come.

I agree with that.

At some point we will be saying…well damn, SOMEBODY has to be in the top ten. 🤣 Or at least 2nd through 10th any way. Not disagreeing with you, but if we keep saying this team and that team are not top ten teams, there won’t be anyone left.

Texas is just an odd story. In the years 2004, 2005 (National Championship year), 2008, and 2009, They had one loss or none over the last twenty years. Since then, they have been average at best. I am guessing there are a lot of alumni that upset about a lot of things. Not sure what has happened. Just seems there are so many good football players living in Texas, they should be able to get their share to go to UT. Add to it that A&M is highly ranked. Plenty to be fuming about for the UT alumni. On a side note Joe Tessitore is awesome calling college games; and his description of the fans rushing the field was classic.

Good to see a coach take ownership

A few ranked teams seem to be struggling early. Loved seeing the Ducks win in Columbus. Number 5 Texas A&M hangs on in Denver to beat unranked Colorado. The Irish have their own thread so won't discuss their struggle here. As we likely know though; any team in the top ten who is not Alabama, is just fighting for the chance to have their butts kicked by Bama.

Can we get a ruling here from our officials? 🤣🤣🤣

Ok...This topic has been through the wringer folks...posts are all over the place. Pretty sure it was not @psaboy's intent when starting it. All the what if matchups are fun to talk about, but they ain't happenin; and no chance they will. If you want to continue in the what if matchups or the wishful thinking ones, feel free to start a new topic. Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion 🙂 This might work out well for Snider; Homestead has a LOT of weapons, and having some extra time to prepare could help.

I don't believe it is. Looks like the person who tweeted it added that himself.

They always seem to pick a bad time to let off the gas....K State comes to mind from the last couple years.

No...your posts have been hidden because the topic was about game cancellations, yet you feel a need to keep posting your opinions about. It's NOT a difficult concept to grasp. You even initially agreed when I posted saying keep personal opinions out of the topic. I will let this go, but if you start posting all over the site about your opinions on it and not about the topic, they will continue to be hidden. Because like so often happens, this comment has NOTHING to do with the Snider football program.

Risk vs Reward: Should your best players play special teams also?
Irishman replied to temptation's topic in The Next Level
That is awesome........On the high school side of this, I have seen it happen a couple times, where a team is playing the last game of the year, gets a kid in a similar spot in. Because playoff rosters had to be submitted several days before the end of the season, an opposing coach has notified the IHSAA that a kid was in a game that was not on the roster, and the game was forfeited. I won't go into details here about who was involved; but most would be shocked if I told them who pulled that. -

OK...funny story time........YEARS ago now, while I was at Cathedral, we pick up a JV game at Columbus East; maybe in 05; might have been 06, but I don't think it was....Anywho, before the game, their coach and I are chatting and he says by the way, we do have a kid, gave his number that I have long forgotten now, who has a prosthetic leg. In their uniform it was not noticeable. Coach says depending on the score, he will try to get him in on a special team. I said ok. Late in the game, I completely forget, and we are up big. We are kicking off after a score, and this kid is on the front line of the KOR. He drops back a few steps, and our is going by him, but they make contact, and yep, you guessed it; the leg comes off. Our kid FREAKS out; looks right at me, and I thought, OHHHHH my GOD, I am completely forgot. To add to the drama, the kid is hamming it up. And by that point, we are all getting a good laugh, including the kid with the prosthetic. -
And with Myles, the alumni showed they have a LOT of cash to get rid of someone........to the point every coach hired after him should add a HUGE buyout to the contract. Not sure what Coach O's buyout is.

When I hear Coach O interviewed, I think of this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcvou0SAxZI

Risk vs Reward: Should your best players play special teams also?

It can depend on an opponent. If a team has a really bad kicker, we say get what you can from the kick. But there are still things you have to pay attention to. A bad or funky kick can hit a guy if he is not paying attention. If we have a big lead, I will put backup guys in, but I need to make sure they have practiced there that week. Comfortable leads also could give you a chance to get the FG unit a live game rep in case they may be needed in a more competitive game. -
Spot on.....I love the guy too. HUGE personality and the type of guy the game needs to have around. he is one I like to see do well, but the reality is that his teams have struggled everywhere he has been the head coach. It is an impressive resume. Like any other SEC program, the fans there are impatient and they have HIGH expectations.
