I LOVE the movie, and thought MLB did a phenomenal job with this. The setting was perfect. I think it was on par with hockey doing their outdoor games. It's unique...fans love it and the players look forward to it as well.

A point to clarify, at least here in Northeast Indiana, I don't know of any schools that remained completely in person throughout the pandemic. I would add to that the number of covid cases among students was higher in wealthier schools private and public, than they were in urban or rural schools. I am not drawing any conclusions, but felt that info was important to note.

New topic….for programs that may not get enough posts, comments, or attention to be in their own topic. I have seen a couple of these guest speakers talking to the kids on the Alabama football team. Kudos to Coach Saban for bringing some special people in to talk to his teams. Even though I am not much of an NBA fan, I do love the show on TNT with Ernie and the crew. Take some time if you have not yet, and look up Ernie Johnson. He is an inspiring individual. But this story his shares takes that to a whole new level.

The purple for parents group is a group of fundamentalist christians who want to drastically alter what is taught in public schools, and make the claim that SEL is a way to teach CRT....which both equate to teaching marxism. The parents have a facebook page where they post a lot of stuff. Rokita appeared with them in Kosciusko County, as this article states. He was at their meeting in Wabash as well. There is video of him being there on their page. He was scheduled to be at the meeting held in New Haven....not sure if he showed up there. I believe he was at a meeting in Brownsburg with them as well. He has been parading around the State with a group of crazies who are making the same claims about all K-12 schools, mostly public schools, but they include private schools as well.

One of THE best story tellers

I never followed the game, but in college at IUPUI (the oldest school of Physical Education in the Country), I took a course in it to really learn how to teach it. The instructor was Walt Leinert (the 1952 US Men’s Olympic Gymnastics Coach). He was THE best at breaking skills down into segments. It was a game I picked up quickly. I played a lot of intramural ball throughout my college days, and have enjoyed the game since then.

This team had suffered a few key injuries throughout these Olympics….great to see them win gild.

Impressive performance in the first half from Japan, but in the end, too much strength and size from the US.

The Paralympics are up next. I remember seeing this commercial during the Super Bowl, and each time it is shown, I admit to getting choked up. Paul Chelimo puts a tremendous effort into winning the bronze in the 5,000 meter race. I have always known there is contact between runners in these distance races, but this race had a LOT of contact. Chelimo was actually pushed off the track for a few steps before recovering.

Molly Seidel, a University of Notre Dame graduate, becomes just the 3rd American woman to earn a medal in the Women’s Marathon under extreme conditions…..temperatures on the course were over 100 degrees, with humidity at 86%.

Right....no escape points in Free Style. Indiana and it sounds like AAU, uses Folk Style scoring. I have heard of matches where guys let opponents escape on purpose to rack up the take downs; with the goal of getting to 30 points; the "Dirty 30". One of our wrestlers a few years ago was attempting to just get the 10 point spread for the tech fall, but out of the blue the ref deducts points, or awarded the opponent (cannot remember which one), for unsportsmanlike conduct.
