  1. I met Coach Allen when we were at Cathedral and we played Ben Davis. Chatting with him before the game, and running into him over the years, I can also say what you see is what you get. He is likely the guy who can get by on 2 or 3 hours sleep a night and jump out of bed. It has been a few years since we last talked, but I enjoy every chat. I also would have liked to have seen what he and Wilson could have done together for a few years. One thing I would have liked to see continue that Wilson started was the remote 1 day camps with his staff. They came up to Homestead HS and had a great turnout. I had a great chat with Coach Allen then. I know people look at him during a game and roll their eyes, but as others have said,it is 100% authentic. I do agree that as a head coach, he needs to tone it down a few notches. Just like a coach that likes to yell and scream all the time, if wins are not following, it all becomes noise to the players. I also think that even recently, had DeBoer stayed around, we might see a better team. Coaches are frequently going for other jobs from IU. I get why, but it is hard to really build a program with a revolving door like that.
  2. Getting an MBA from IU is a big deal, especially in the time he had to do it. Best of luck Jack.
  3. Seems I am seeing a LOT of posts from friends that cheer for various teams that are talking about ugly wins. It seems there are 2 teams that are playing decent football; Buffalo and Philly. While the Giants and Vikings are 5-1, I don't think they look like dominant teams. There are just 3 teams with 4 wins. The Jets, Cowboys, and Chiefs. Just seems like sloppy play is running rampant this year. Multiple games have been downright ugly; unwatchable even. I don't think I can put my finger on any one thing; but feel there are multiple factors that go into this.
  4. All you Negative Nellies 😄
  5. The offense seems to be going the wrong direction; so out of sync. Aaron Jones only has 4 touches? Because of post game comments last week maybe? if so, that is just petty. Get over yourself LaFleur. he is one of the best in the game. I was not aware that Rodgers injured the thumb on his throwing hand last week. He is taking some hits today. Strange to see those hits because of what got so much attention last week for being bad calls on toughing. So we do a complete 180 NOW???? They are VERY lucky to just be tied at this point. Props to the Jets D though, they are physical and are playing aggressive.
  6. Just seems like the coordinators are trying too many things. Still seeing safety blitzes on defense that are not working. I think I have seen one work against BYU but that was it. Guys still look lost in pass coverage and not much pressure on the QB. And tonight you have a large D Linemen in pass coverage?? Offense had the run game going, and some of the quick passing game. Run a sweep on the goal line? And then the reverse on 1st down at midfield? Granted Pyne has predetermined who he is throwing to too many times, and they have been covered or he has missed. Stanford D is making Pyne run around too much.
  7. That 4th and goal play call Rees???
  8. Unreal....typical, but still. Absolutely no excuses. Coby Andison has GOT to take care of the football. You are at midfield, you had the 1st down, just get down. Not that it is all on him. The offense was pathetic through the first half. Just more of the same crap we see year after year after year after year after year.
  9. So a team that IU beat now controls their own destiny in the B1G West???? lol
  10. I think Doubs and Watson have good enough speed for being deep threats. I just do not think A A Ron can put it on anyone deep any more. His accuracy maxes out around 30 yards in my opinion. Granted, the throw to Watson was on target in week 1, but it just seems that is a rare thing.
  11. And in appropriate fashion, like the Great Pumpkin, they Bears never showed up.
  12. I am ok with it. I was happy when Green Bay drafted Rodgers, but it is clear there is something between the two Rodgerses. I saw Claypool play at ND in person a few times. I have said many times, he made Ian Book look much better than he actually was. he showed glimpses of greatness with Roethlisberger. This may be a situation where a move for both of them may be exactly what each one needs.
  13. The Cleveland Browns are playing Washington in Chicago? That is weird 🤣
  14. @Stoner Good work....thanks for posting that. I think there are flaws to ANY system that requires qualifying for the playoffs. The IHSAA under Bobby Cox, in my opinion was way ahead of the game in going the all in path. That said, I am curious though...and just playing devil's advocate with this; so please don't take this as me attacking the post. Looking at a number of teams on the list where the season ended with a sectional title, how many of their playoff wins were against teams who were ranked similarly or lower in Sagarin's algorithm? Just as an example of my question, "1995 Lapel (1A Sectional Champs), Sagarin Class Rank 39th of 54, Ranked 3rd in Sectional" With either 7 or 8 teams in a given sectional at that time, how many teams did Lapel play that were ranked lower than them?
  15. In 2 years, mine increased 33K. Rather than it being a federal thing though, in my mind, this is local politicians figuring out how to get around the 1% cap.
  16. In case it is difficult to visualize
  17. Media day....with style. Gotta love it https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/trayce-jackson-davis-showed-up-at-big-ten-media-day-in-a-candy-striped-jacket/?fbclid=IwAR2yznPQOsP4bMxqE-2huhKjaLACF9Gk5F04lzJCptnN-xRpodz3SnAgVfs
  18. This is how it usually starts, right? You can only have so many assistants leave or get fired before you look to where the buck stops. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-tom-allen-announces-firing-of-ol-coach-hiller-alumnus-rod-carey-to-fill-role/?fbclid=IwAR0IcmJOT2KQfzy1EwQ7qTZgsFcXTMqmjtRz_1dZPFoWQb_gCeT8GZjbgrw
  19. Funny story.....as an assistant at Cathedral, we practiced special teams every day. Defensive staff ran the defensive teams, KO, Punt return, FG Block. Every week, we practiced the popup with a guy running under it to catch it, making sure it went 10 yards. Late in the season, we get a chance to try it. Not a player on R any where near the ball, our guy runs under and makes an easy catch. The flag IMMEDIATELY goes up. It was at that point we learned what Kick Catch Interference was. Just a few years ago in a JV game game, we are up late in the game at home. Outr opponent tries the exact same thing and sure enough, the kid catches it. I calmly look at the white hat, who was also a TV news anchor here in Fort Wayne, and I sad that is kick catch interference Rod. he gets pissy with me, but I am almost jokingly telling him. I finally said I will bet you a case of beer that it is illegal. he told me to shut up lol. I am chatting up the line judge on our sideline who eventually says, you know coach, I think you are right. I say back, Oh I know I am. I never did follow up with Rod on that one. That was his last season as an official as he moved to Cincy that year. I am willing to bet he remembers that as well as I do. lol
