  1. He posted on his twitter and one of the fan sites posted he had been offered.
  2. Not sure what you are seeing, but I see it everywhere; local news sites and local TV news, social media sites for the networks, people sharing the story.
  3. Canada does make a lot of good beer......and mountains, a LOT of really cool mountains.
  4. I know a lot of people here don't like Trudeau or Obrador, but I am also pretty sure neither of them are invading us anytime soon. 🤣
  5. Did not see a "go ahead and just take my money" topic on the first 3 pages here, so it was important I post it here. I have no idea how I am expected to save for retirement when there is this level of genius in our world.
  6. When the IHSAA President spoke in a committee hearing, he claimed that just one person in the 10 years the policy has been in place filed the documentation needed.
  7. Did some checking and all 3 mentioned in the last couple posts are still open......at least there is nothing posted anywhere that I can find. If you have any further questions regarding them, please start a topic about them.....really trying to limit this topic to openings and hires.
  8. well, there is THAT.....ESPECIALLY this time of year.
  9. Arming teachers is a HORRIBLE idea. Kids who want to cause problems can find out who is armed (guessing it would have to be public knowledge since they would be acting as an agent of the State beyond their normal responsibilities) could easily overtake a teacher. When police are called to a school for an active shooter, they see a gun, they are firing. They are NOT taking time to ask who the person is. I think being armed changes the whole dynamic of a student/teacher relationship, on both sides. We do have a couple things in my district that it seems many districts do not. SRO's for one, and secure entrances.....but even then, many shooters come from inside the building and know their way around, and in the case in Florida, the SRO failed MISERABLY at doing his job. There was an armed police office inside Robb Elementary yesterday. So, what if a teacher fails to act? Can they be held personally liable? What if a teacher fires and misses? or even worse.....?
  10. It was a 16.4% increase https://journalnow.com/sports/college/david-teel-with-notre-dame-as-full-member-in-2020-21-acc-revenue-increased-16/article_408fa227-5e4b-5635-ba94-eb7f71d887f2.html
  11. Being in a district in that setting, I disagree to an extent. You cannot apply the same mindset across the entire state I look at course offerings that schools like Homestead and Carroll have and see that there are so many more classes students can take. In multi school district, far too often, the mindset is if one school has something, all the schools have to have it. Or if one school wants or needs to do something different, the answer is no because the other schools don't have it. Multi school districts divide too many resources in attempts to balance things out too thin; giving little to each, and often leaving each school short changed. Like anything, there are unintended consequences as well. I know down sides to having one large school. Some kids can get lost or feel overwhelmed around so many. Travel increases for kids in outlying areas, but in the long run, I think the positives outweigh the negatives.........at least for our district. I can easily see that in more rural areas, the problems I mentioned are more magnified, especially travel. But it is rural schools that feel the biggest negative hit in a severely flawed funding formula that the State uses.
  12. Composer of one of the most epic movie theme songs. RIP https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/vangelis-oscar-winning-composer-chariots-of-fire-blade-runner-dead-obit-1355854/
  13. Not sure if anyone is familiar with Coach McCullough's background, but it is a remarkable story. I actually had a chance to meet him as he came to the school to meet our RB at that time. It was a great chat, but before I knew this story. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29324031/kc-chiefs-rb-coach-deland-mccullough-jaw-dropping-story-search-family
  14. More than likely, it was simply because it was such a rare occasion for me to get one. 🤣
  15. I knew those free cheeseburgers at McDonald's for the A's we got on report cards was a slippery slope.
  16. That is above my pay grade. Interesting question though. As a Cubs fan, I am ok with it counting against the Reds. 🤣
  17. 6 times in MLB history has a team had a pitcher or a pitching staff combine to throw a no hitter........and lose. Well, it HAD been just 5 times.........until Sunday May 15th, 2022 when the Reds became the 6th team. Interesting to note, the first time was 1964. Seems the Reds just want to find new ways to lose. The crazy part was just a few years ago, they had been active in the free agent market and appeared to be set to make a run deep into the post season. I do feel bad for a guy like Joe Votto though. He is one of those guys you would love to see win a championship. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/pitchers-throw-no-hitter-lose-hunter-greene-reds-mlb/oksmri1ryygq5fimomeyopal
  18. I also think MOST in congress that campaign as pro life would have preferred to remain quiet when not on the campaign trail. I also think most would have preferred that the Court NOT take this case up.

  20. Bloomington High School South will have a Social Studies position open for the start of next school year. There is a coaching opportunity available. Please contact Head Coach Gabe Johnson at gjohnson@mccsc.edu if interested.
  21. While he was great in The Right Stuff as Gus Grissom, he was really great in Tremors. RIP https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/13/entertainment/fred-ward-obit/index.html
  22. To add to this, I think there is a connection between what we are seeing as far as the toxic stuff and the stuff we are dealing with in our schools with the same types of behaviors.
  23. My curiosity got to me ...everything I have found so far refers to what the catcher does. Watching pro baseball, the term used is "framing the pitch". Basically the catcher adjusts the glove position to make a pitch that is off the plate look like a strike. Maybe his beef was the opponent's catcher was really good at it??? My initial thought though was something along the lines of Ed Norton reading the golf instructions to Ralph Cramden "First, you address the ball". After a short discussion, Norton figures it out; steps up to the ball, doffs his hat, and says "hello ball".
  24. Colts adding some possible depth to the o line. He has been around a while. Only spent one season in Green Bay but was noticeable late in the playoff game, as Bosa made him look slow. He struggled against other edge rushers as well. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-roundup-latest-league-news-from-tuesday-may-10?campaign=Twitter_atn
