Another perspective......Looking at a sectional from this area. Bishop Dwenger is at 21% FRL. Leo is at 20%. South Side is at 69%. Wayne is at 65%. New Haven is at 63%. East Noble is at 36%. Columbia City is at 25%. DeKalb is at 38%. Over the last 10 years, you can guess/rank teams based on the number of sectional titles they have won. While it's not THE indicator, or even the leading indicator, there is certainly a correlation between the FRL number and school success. Inside the building, it is hard to find common factors for student success or even the lack of success, and the same goes for test scores. The one thing that can be said is that the schools with low academic performance and test scores all have high FRL numbers. I like what Iowa is doing. And as @foxbat said the sped numbers are a factor as well. I have said for years the one key factor in the disparity in classes and looking at just the sectional above, it's not really about who is in each building, it's more about who is NOT in certain buildings that see high levels of success. While some want to think kids are being punished based on the performance of a class no longer in the school, the fact is those schools can show the drop in performance is nothing close to what a LOT of schools see after they have a run of great teams. Another fact is that MOST schools are being classified (punished if you will) due to the number of students who do not participate in anything. Someone made the comment that it's up to coaches and admins to get more kids out, but not much thought given to why kids are not going out. Real life hits a lot kids much sooner than it should. Kids are working to help with household income. Kids are helping raise younger siblings, cousins, neighbor's kids......or even their own kids.

Time for the weekly update:

Love played better today. Love seeing the defense force turnovers. Solid effort all around, but damn, how is there not a decent kicker available for them?
-
It was nice to see them get the run game going.

Some fans.......probably: "Can both teams lose?"
-
Here's hopin the Northern Lights show as well as they did last night. So, there's that. 😆

I would contend there are two in State programs that do......one on the transactional side and one on the transformational side. Hoping some of the football success puts some pressure on the bball program to step up. Who woulda thunk that phrase would EVER be a thing.😆

2023 Purdue Boilermakers/2024 Purdue/ 2025 Purdue/2026 Purdue

HUGE fan of Brock’s. He is a great clinician too by the way. Part of me thinks some guys are just happy where they are, and he may be one of them. -
Getting the transfers to buy in is HUGE in this instance. Even though a lot of those guys were his at JMU, you still have to get the whole program on board. A great comparison can be made to Norvell at FSU. The main criticism for him there? Too dependent on the transfers. Saban said it best Saturday. Too many of those kids are transactional…..looking for a deal, padding the stats, exposure on a bigger stage, etc., and not transformational, buying into the program and making it better.

Very similar take that you had with Cignetti talking. Tiller came to Indy for an IFCA meeting with his staff. It does not take long to figure out that some coaches have it. Had the same experience with Bill Mallory. -
The rumors will be flying on this one. Fired after week 5. Does not happen often, but here are the Jets. It’s one thing to let a coach go, but escorted out of the building? Room for lots of speculation about off the field stuff and not just on field stuff. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-saleh-was-escorted-out-of-building-by-director-of-security

Ahhhh...I missed that. He usually looks for a post that has some info about the teams involved instead of just posting the matchups and spreads. 🙂

Following this topic because so many conference topics from this site end up on a page belonging to someone who asked to be deleted from here. Funny thing is, he got his panties in a wad over posts being used from his facebook page were being posted here. He asked to delete them, with a mention of legal recourse on his part. yet we see he is doing the same thing. he has not copied this topic yet, but I am sure it will happen soon. And he calls himself a journalist lol 🙂 Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

DPI on TD catch-- 15 yard penalty was applied to ensuing kickoff
Irishman replied to slice60's question in Officiating Forum
I hear those things often from broadcasters when I watch or listen online as well. It seems the most common thing I hear is “that ball was not catchable” or something like it when the speaker thinks DPI should not have been called. -
