  1. Just a reminder folks…..please do not post about injuries to specific players. Even if it is fairly well known in a community, it’s still off limits. If there is a news story, that is fine. But the red flag comes up especially when a post starts with “I heard…” Thanks
  2. After having been a coach in a few games where we kicked off to start both halves (including a Regional playoff game), I am a huge fan of this change. 🙂
  3. Thought this was interesting.
  4. I don't think anyone tracks individual transfers, but you can always find updates for total number of them on the IHSAA website. Go to the About Us link and click on Meeting Minutes. The Executive Committee pdf posts total transfers. This is a screen shot from the June 20 meeting and has total transfers from June 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024.
  5. Seeing some creative things like this for fantasy league losers. lol
  6. As far as the Oregon discussion goes, they will be the quickest to adapt to the new conference. I said this when NIL started; Oregon is the team to watch. As much money as we see in the SEC programs, no one comes close for what Oregon has available with Nike execs that are alums. I still feel the current path lasts 5 years tops, and Oregon will be one of the leaders in driving it to some sort of professional league.
  7. I mentioned this a while back that scholarships will likely be replaced by contracts. And as Bob said, that leads to them becoming employees. I guess an NIL deal could have those considerations from a company not connected to the school. But I think if a school adds that requirement, it becomes more of a contract.
  8. It gets worse for the Vikes....
  9. I was today years old when I learned this https://www.facebook.com/share/r/FJBpZiuXsmysTfvA/
  10. Upcoming for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles https://www.nbclosangeles.com/paris-2024-summer-olympics/los-angeles-2028-differs-paris-2024-olympics/3485710/ Baseball and softball return in 2028, along with cricket, lacrosse, obstacle racing, squash, and flag football. LaCrosse was last played in the 1908 Olympics. Softball will take place in Oklahoma City. We MIGHT see big leaguers in the baseball tournament. Manfred is on board, but has concerns about potential injuries to star players. Swimming and track flip flop their schedules, so track will be the first week and swimming the second week. Not included in the article is that breaking will not be in the 28 games, and if the IBA cannot get its act together, boxing may also be absent from the games. Boxing has been an Olympic sport since 1904, with the exception of 1912 where the sport was illegal in Sweden. Women's boxing first appeared in the London Games of 2012.
  11. The world is catching up. From the WSJ: "In 1992, Team USA had 11 NBA players; the entire rest of the tournament, just nine. In the semifinal and final rounds, they faced Lithuania and Croatia—who had a total of three NBA players between them." From NBA.com "A record 139 current and former NBA and WNBA players are featured on national team rosters for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The men's and women's 5-on-5 competitions will feature a record 81 and record 51 current and former players, respectively." So, 20 players from the NBA in 92 to 81 in 2024 (there were 12 teams in this year's Olympics)
  12. Here ya go
  13. Did you see my post with the video of the Australian "dancer"? Pretty funny
  14. Overcame a tough home team and their crowd, a lot of missed layups, as well as a lot of turnovers.
  15. Great response
  16. The team rose to the challenge and played tough throughout the Olympics. Steph Curry was unreal in the Medal round games.
  17. Won the 4x400 Relay by 4.3 seconds
  18. Incredible race with a photo finish.
  19. lol
  20. Ok, first breaking should have never been a “sport” in the Olympics. I thought breaking was no longer a thing I always knew some people should never do it; myself included Seeing this qualified to GET to Paris, just how bad was the competition in the Australian trials? All that said, I dare anyone to not 😆 https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-eJFaEtlYh/?igsh=c3Fqdnd4NHpuZGh
  21. To put this in perspective… in 2016, Helen Maroulis was the first woman from the US to win an Olympic medal in wrestling… today, Helen perhaps wrestled her last match, securing a bronze medal for her third straight Olympics with a medal - putting her with the second most Olympic medals for ANY US Wrestler. And to add to just how far it has come, it is now a sanctioned sport in the IHSAA, and the NCAA is adding it at the D1 level soon. A handful of schools are even offering scholarships in anticipation of it becoming a real thing.
