Sign me up. Freeman’s first two games will be the Oklahoma St game and Ohio St in Columbus. First game didn’t go so well and I expect a loss in Columbus but how bad will that loss be is the question. Who’s playing quarterback in those 12 games and how bad are the other losses? Ohio St, Clemson and USC you’d think would be the potential losses but besides OSU the other two are winnable games imo

Offense played great for 2 quarters. Wish they would have tried for some points before half with 37 second and 3 timeouts. Think I heard the Irish had 5 drives that lasted less than a minute. They really missed kyren Williams, how many tackles did ok state miss compared to ND? Defense played bad. Missed tackles and just gassed 2nd half. I really think OK St. showed notre dames lack of athleticism and depth at linebacker and in the secondary. The score before the half was a huge momentum swing and unfortunately was kind of a trend this season for the Irish defense. Coaching wise…. Think Marcus freeman will learn from each game experience, OSU staff with mike gundy who’s been around a while vs a young inexperienced staff at ND, seemed like one made the right adjustments and the other could not. it won’t get easier against the next OSU in the horse shoe to start next season

Agree. I felt like Michigan and Cincinnati deserved to be there and we found out last night the bridge between the top and “next tier” is still quite large. It seems every year there is a clear cut top 1 or 2, a distinctive 3rd team and a case for a few teams to be the 4th team in. And your reward? A matchup with the best of the best to make you realize how far away your program really is. I don’t think adding another round of blowouts benefits anyone except the ones cashing the checks. it’s like SEC speed is on another level and then Alabama speed is on another level by itself. It’s incredible what saban has been able to do there year in and year out.

That’s a sad sad stat… Can’t imagine there were many wins before Brady Quinn got the one. I mean they’ve had a ton of flops in the NFL, Rick Mirer, Quinn, Clausen, Kizer. The former notre dame qb who made any noise in the league played at wide receiver Arnaz Battle who did some things for the 49ers.

Blake Fisher has seemingly made a full recovery from his knee injury. He’s listed as the starter at right tackle vs Oklahoma St in the Fiesta Bowl.

Think I had Dan McGwire rookie card, from San Diego St with a dark visor which weren’t around back then. Haha memory lane I remember Jamarcus Russell being tall and I think ryan Mallott from Arkansas(?) was a big dude but not more than 6’6 if memory serves.

This list of old high schools fascinates me. Like some of these towns are so small I can’t imagine them having a high school. But much different time I suppose. Thanks for the share

Looking at next year's ND schedule with Marshall, UNLV, and Cal (3 teams that are normally down and I don't remember ND playing) it made me curious who the top hitters have next year out of conference: Alabama plays Utah St, Texas, Louisiana-Monroe, and Austin Peay. Michigan plays Colorado St, Hawaii, and Connecticut. Ohio State plays Notre Dame, Arkansas St, and Toledo. Georgia plays Oregon, Samford, Kent St, and Georgia Tech. Just food for thought.

That Cincinnati actually has a good team and beat up a team that couldn’t block anyone at the time and didn’t figure out the qb situation??

Good question. It sounds like most of the staff is staying. Rees (OC/WB) Taylor (RB) mcnulty (TE) Elston (DL) Mickens (DB) are the names I’ve heard who are back. With that in mind I’d think elston or perhaps freeman still runs the D??

Tommy Rees to remain at ND as OC! Huge win for the Irish

There was a point, probably in early Sept, where the Irish were supposed to play 5 or 6 ranked teams in a row starting with Purdue I think it was... and since then those teams, with maybe the exception of Purdue and Wisconsin, fell off the tracks. I mean North Carolina was a preseason top 10 team and now they are terrible. It is what it is, and they'll need a lot of help this weekend to end up #4

In a perfect world they hire Freeman as HC, and Rees as OC/Associate head coach possibly with a major bump in pay... Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world and they'll probably end up losing 1 of the 2. If they lose both, then this top 10 recruiting class will take a major, major hit that I'm not sure Fickell or whoever they hire would be able to fix in a short time.

I've heard that both Rees and Freeman are interviewing for the head coaching position, possibly today

Supposedly BK contacted Marcus Freeman last night and is trying to make him the highest paid DC in the country if he comes to LSU. LSU is also targeting OC Tommy Rees according to Matt Fortuna from the Athletic.

AD Swarbrick says they won't name an interim head coach at this time.

AD Jack Swarbrick meeting the media at 10am local time. Sounds like Marcus Freeman may be named interim head coach for now. He would get my vote, I think if he stays that will keep the recruiting class together and also keep the defense as a strength. I'm anxious to see who goes to LSU with the kelly? will Tommy Rees stay and run the offense? Will any of the other assistants feel slighted if Freeman becomes the head man after being there for one year? I'm still shocked about this, but I'm am excited for a new chapter if Freeman is the guy.
