WRC 2021
RedwoodCowTippers replied to Tanka Jahari's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
how's everyone's teams looking over the summer so far? Any notable player moves/developments? Any word on a new coach for Covington? -
ol' Temptation and Footballking16, you two have one heckuva conversation going, and I see both sides I've got 2 examples of culture v.s social economics: 1) Coach Mo, sometime between leaving Carmel and going back to Bloomington South, ended up at Salem. 2, maybe 3 seasons, never had a winning season in Salem. Why? types of kids and true community and corporation buy-in, perhaps? 2) Coach Brian Moore, who had a reputation for building successful programs at Seeger and Fountain Central, became head coach at Lafayette Jeff, around 2015, 2016, somewhere in there. Went from a 1A school to a 5A(at the time) school, took a program from 1 win the previous season to 8 in his one and only season there. Why? Community and School buy in, along with athletes buying in as well. I get the conference switch at the time is always pointed at as a factor of this success for Coach Moore on here before, but his foundation and implement of culture worked just the same at a big inner city school just like it did at a small rural community school. Coach Mo didn't have the same luck. Maybe I'm missing the mark on the social economics point you guys are trying to get each other to admit to. Maybe I'm spot on. Either way, thats my 2 cents...

Best, worst, most unique

WRC- late 90's/early 2000's addition: Best: Tie- Seeger and Fountain Central. 2 of the best playing surfaces in the league at the time, definitely had the best facilities at the time. Worst: Turkey Run, hands down. I don't remember that field ever having grass on it. Might explain why the Turkey Run kids were so tough. Only reason Attica didn't make it here was because their field actually had some grass on it... Unique: This is a good question. Maybe Riverton Parke, just because it was built on a swamp. The visitor stands was right next to a woods. If you had a second to look around as a player, it was a beautiful setting. But if it was muggy that night, the mosquitos would literally carry you off. -
This is not meant to sound disrespectful, but I called this happening. The moment I saw Ritter was open, and I remembered the post last year about Mr.Purcell's connection to Catholic football in Indianapolis, I would have been more surprised if this union didn't happen than if it did. Good luck to him and good luck to Ritter. They have tough since the late 90's, I doubt that changes with this new regime.

Is the IHSA gonna have playoffs this year, or just play a few games and call it good? -
6A: Carmel (10-3) vs Center Grove (8-5)

Center Grove wins a real slobberknocker, 13-10 -
I watched some of both games, via internet, last Friday night. Lutheran is the real deal, LCC just got luck of the draw to get to still be in this conversation (weak sectional, weak regional, AC playing too tight until it was too late). I don't think LCC will have a chance. They won't get stomped into the Oil Can turf, but this time they come home with red medals instead of blue. Lutheran 34, LCC 21

I will say, I was impressed with the season North Judson had. Having a new coach, even if that coach is promoted from within, doesn't guarantee any kind of success the first year at the helm. So kudos to the Blue Jays. Sounds like Winamac will start to close the gap on NJ, soon with what the program has coming back.

History is against Adams Central, but this could be a team that challenges that narrative. History is on Central Catholic's side, but they are no longer a Evil Empire. They are a whole different animal than previous teams. Will there be a home field advantage this time? Adam Central just took down a juggernaut while LCC won the easiest regional in 1A (no offense to North Judson fans, breathe and think before you attack) I take Adam Central in this one, 21-14
