Sports Illustrated did a story about a team in Alaska many years ago. One topic covered was The unreal travel times and mileage for road games. 

Ottawa NF is a great place.  There are so many great spots up there.

I did see that. That was cool. You NEED to read "When Pride Still Mattered" by Dave Maraniss. It is the most detailed biography of Lombardi. It is loaded with similar nuggets like that. All the connections to the greats of the game is impressive. Lombardi was even friends with a lounge singer from Hoboken, NJ LONG before either became famous.

It is really the main thing that drove his smoking habit. While at West Point, Lombardi was the one who had to drive in to NYC once a week to the Waldorf Astoria. He had to show then “retired” General Douglas MacCarthur the film from the previous game, as well as the game plan for the upcoming opponent. 

I stand corrected, thanks for the info.  I don’t know if you caught it, but the Lombardi Trophy is named as such due to Lamar Hunt, the late owner of the Chiefs. Incidentally, GB and KC played in the first AFL-NFL as it was then known.

Mark Smith has been away from the show for a long time.   Wayne has been co hosting for at least 10 year, maybe more now.   You can check it out on facebook each week if out of the area.  They do post game show too 

I really miss that show.  We have Hulu and I don’t think it’s available.

That’s why brands like The North Face exist!  Just kidding, the game should be a good one, and although I’m typically pro-NCC, upsets are always fun.  But, BG (Boone Grove, people) are undefeated, so if the Wolves (not Wolfs😁) emerge victorious, does it count as one?

The lack of end zone cameras, is depressing, sad, and flat out wrong.  But I don’t think legendary athletes like Jim Thorpe, Red Grange, and Bart Starr had them...

I don’t know if we like it, per se, we just know how to deal with it.

Looking over these forums, there is a lot of whining.  No need.  We live in the best country in the world and are privileged enough to be fans if a great game (and games should be fun, but that’s another story 😉).  I don’t think we should beat each other up over schematics.  There’s no such thing as a perfect system, just enjoy the sport for what it is.  It’s impossible to keep all of the of the people happy all of the time/nobody gets all the cards (take your pick).

That being said, San Dimas High School football rules.

I gave nothing up.   But since you think this is such a predicament we’re in, you have two options: A) yank your kid out of football or B) put $20 of gas in your car.

And thereby waste your time.  Your party, pal...

I have spent a good portion of my summers in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  One of the local teams, the Ironwood Red Devils (RDP Yoopers) is pretty good and making long bus rides to Marquette is not uncommon.

Spot on.  The folks at the IHSAA are not on an inferior intellectual level.  If there was a serious problem, they would step in and do something.  It is not our duty or business to police it.
