  1. I don't believe it was scheduled that way...
  2. An update on Lowell: the first three games of the season will all be on the road what do you think that means?
  3. Growing up in a small town, high school football (as well as all athletics) is an extremely big deal. Sure, this isn't Texas, where it's a religion (much akin to our basketball), but it does let folks come to meet, bands play, cookout held, and athletic effort recognized.
  4. Saw some more over the weekend: Ben Davis, Bloomington North, Brown County, Center Gove, Columbus North, Martinsville (even broke par at MGC--great course/Gipper Approved), and Tri-County. Just a few weeks away....
  5. I still need to do that, but I don't think it will be ready in a month, nor does Mrs. Gipper. The Gipperette? She just wants a new natatorium...
  6. I'll post pics of the new Inferno when I can. On that note, they're doing a lot of improvements to the school itself.
  7. Unfortunately, that's what it's devolving to. It's all about greed.
  8. Winning a State Championship albeit in single class or separate classes is a big thing and should not be overlooked.
  9. Purdue got a 3-star Tight End from Ohio yesterday. That's where the rating of recruits perplexes me. Ohio, along with California, Florida (and most southern states), Pennsylvania, and Texas have some pretty good football programs. That being said, does a 3-star by Ohio's standards equate to a higher ranking elsewhere? Have a great day and stay hydrated--gonna be a hot one today! G
  10. It is a classic, just like Bama, Texas. and USC.
  11. Many HS football stadiums in Texas seat north of 10,000. look at this monster, and it's not even the biggest...
  12. I remember those days. My brother's team won their Sectional one week only to face the mighty Jeff juggernaut the following week...
  13. Glad you survived!
  14. I drove to Owensboro, KY last weekend to visit my son (Gipper, Jr.) at his internship. Incidentally, Owensboro High School is also nicknamed the Red Devis, so apparently, we have RDP Bluegrass. So, there you go. But over the 5-hour trip down US 41 and SR 63, I saw many high schools: South Newton (well, the sign), Seeger, North & South Vermillion), the Hautians (both North and South), North Central, Sullivan. the sign to Linton, Vincennes, Gibson Southern, and Heritage Hills once I got on 231. All of these school play football and it's great to know how it plays a part in shaping to character of the cities and towns they represent.
  15. That's good, I guess, but do early season games get teams ready for the tournament?
  16. In Wisconsin on business last night and saw the Beer Producers-Slang Term for Philadelphia Resident on in the hotel bar.
  17. They played West Lafayette 5-6 years ago. WL won in Crete while Crete destroyed them the following year at Ross-Ade Stadium, no less.
  18. If any of the Region teams go out of state, I would recommend playing Crete-Monee.
  19. Fine, slick: a darker shade of orange!
  20. Being we are a football community; how dare I slight the pros? Packers: Groups of people who toil in the meat-production industry Browns: Composite Colors Bengals: Hybrid Leopards Jaguars: Native Panthers (wouldn't want one of those chilling in my pool) Cowboys: Bovine Herders Chiefs: Leaders of First Nations Jets: Fixed-Wing Airplane Fleet
  21. As i watched some baseball games over the weekend: Cubs: Young Bears, Foxes, or Lions Brewers: Beer Producers Mariners: People of the Seas Diamondbacks: Venomous Vipers Athletics: People Who Play Sports
