  1. Michigan State & Rutgers suspending football activities, widespread outbreak on the Miami Marlins baseball team, things not looking good.
  2. I think you’re right. Sadly, I think there will be a spike once the season begins.
  3. You raise a very good point with regard to student sections...or the lack thereof. How full will the stands be allowed to be if there is a season? Half full? Family only? Family and students? FBS Scouts? Many parameters...
  4. When the time is right was a little open-ended.
  5. There is a lot of doubt. I still feel uneasy about sending my kids back to school.
  6. The last time I checked we’re not doctors, elected public officials, etc. Those that are will make their decision regardless of how we feel about it when the time is right.
  7. If they were to adopt the Fighting Gippers as a handle, they would have to pay me a licensing fee, royalties, and the name of the school would have to be changed to the Stan Gipkowski Academy.
  8. Although Ike was quite the intellectual, Newton County, Indiana was named for Sgt. John Newton of the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. This ungrateful colonial bravely saved American POWs who were to be executed by the British in the Siege of Savannah, Georgia. Patrick Horry, obviously British, refers to this enlisted man as a thief and villain, however.
  9. Seriously, Is that all you got? Figs? In another thread I stated how I like wordplay, but that's just silly.
  10. What's wrong with word play? I'm Catholic and love it.
  11. You can pretty much write off Roncalli Renegades.
  12. Don’t know if they’ll be played or not either, no one does. But Indiana has done great football tradition, so if there isn’t any this year, 2021 will be amazing!
  13. Well, if the Land of Fruits and Nuts likes, it's gotta be right.
  14. It’s more than weird. I still work, some from home, some in a nearly empty office and have my normal responsibilities. But the though that there won’t be any football this fall is a weird one, and one I don’t want, but will have to take whatever comes.
  15. The bandwagon can be a great thing if you like winners. But if you are a fan of a certain type of offense (spread, ground and pound, etc.)—go with the school that is particularly proficient in said offense. Conversely, if you like defense—3-4, 4-3, nickel, etc., root for the school known for the best defense. Geography could also factor into your decision: if you live in the North side of Indianapolis, you could cheer on a school like Bishop Chatard, North Central, or Pike. Southport or Roncalli on the south, New Palestine or Warren Central on the East, or Avon Ben Davis on the West—have fun!
  16. You, too! All I can say is that whole Covid-19 business is something we have never experienced in our lifetimes. Ever. There are many compelling arguments for football (and the overriding factor of school) to start like it always does, yet many contrary views have also been shared. Tough times we live in: who’s right, who’s wrong?
  17. As I think about it, no one knows for sure...
  18. It sure will. This Covid-19 thing is not, and I repeat not, uniform. It affects people, things, and entities in different ways. Although the recent pandemics of Ebola and SARS were bad, this is a different animal.
  19. No, there’s not. Did we re-open too fast?Did we not take the proper precautions? Is this virus more to it than we think?
  20. Well said! I love football, and will always be for it under the right conditions. But here’s the deal: there’s so much to COVID-19, probably much more than we realize. I’m not an epidemiologist, virologist, or any other kind of ist, just a crappy excuse for an accountant. I just want everybody to be safe.
  21. Dann, I really love your optimism and really hope we get a season in. I just look at the trends and get nervous. We also live in a very litigious society and I think there would be a lot of lawsuits should people get sick.
  22. Who said I was hoping for doomsday? My son’s a senior, I live in Lake County, I know what’s gong on.
