They have one advantage--the mystique of being a private school--you little proletariats should know better.

Tough game tonight as far as playoff positioning goes. In my mind, it’s a toss up.....buuuuuuut, go Seahawks 🙂
I concur. I want to win the division and we need all the breathing room we can get:
Washington--sure 3-9, but you never know
Chicago--they actually think they can make the playoffs
Detroit--the game at Lambeau earlier this season was way to close, but Stafford is not playing
Minnesota--if we do lose a game, this will be it

This thread was started about lack of representation of low enrollment 6A schools, not free and reduced lunch.
In reality, this thread was started to deter from the fact that DT for two years has been so off base about the HCC overtaking the MIC. DT doesn’t care that the lower enrollment 6A schools aren’t represented at LOS, he cares that the HCC hasn’t lived up to the hype and the MIC is as strong as ever. Under DT’s 6A split-division proposal, the MIC would have produced TWO state champions this year. Talk about your all-time backfires.
Nobody gets all the cards.

I’m so happy for the Greyhounds and glad to see my son win a state championship.
I’m sure he worked hard, congratulations!

Shouldnt we be looking ahead more than behind?
LCs attendance is in slow decline. They are the smallest school in The MIC and the gap is widening.
Sounds pretty dire. But if the gap is widening and the students are revolting, why just the HCC? Wouldn’t their interests, as they should be, be best served in a smaller conference such as the Circle City?

Didn't LC have two state title game appearances in past 10 years??
They probably did. But if not, so what? Given their location on the northeast side, the MIC is a very good fit for them.

Geeez....... @Gipper thought you were into kidding around until I saw your downtick...let me try a limerick then.....”There once was a girl from Nantucket......”
Since the thread is fundamentally moronic, I assumed matching humor would be much more worthwhile.
Sorry, man. I was in a mood yesterday. I did set you up pretty well.

I said 13 -3 and the best game of the weekend. Got laughed at. 27-20 . At the beginning of the week we should have told valpo to just stay home cause the dragons were unbeatable. If not for a bad choice by the QB on one throw. The game is different. Great game by two great teams. New pal is a great program that is basically a suburb of Indy and they have benefited of people that move to be away from the city and are still close enough to be away from the everyday hassle of city life. We are a 4a program the voices have cried . Give me a break. That will change when people move into your community. HSE, fishers were there also and look we’re their at. Some how Charlie spegal was at another school his freshman year and ended up at NP. Would be a whole different story if he was not there for 3 years. Enjoy your time on top cause it will come to a end at some point!
Now that my rant is over, #20 for new pal is one hell of a football player. Seen him over the last couple years and he is special. #54 is good but the valpo line held him in check. If the QB for new pal plays the whole game they win by 20. Valpo had the perfect opportunity to upset them and fell short cause the lack of ability at QB.
Great game.
Love the region
It was a great game. I just laugh at the lengths some of these posters go to...
I have far more pressing issues.

The parity in the MIC this season lured many (like myself) into a false sense that a handful of teams were better than it turned out they were.
Back to Merrillville, Homestead and other non-MIC 6A outfits...a conference title and a couple of tournament wins appears to be your ceiling in the current format.
Noted.

Lol at “beating the #2 team in the state.”
Jeff was the product of a pathetic schedule and Merrillville was eventually exposed and should be used as an example to confirm DT’s point...
But I thought polls were the gold standard...

Due to economic depression, high school sports has been shut down for the last ten years. They are about to start up again. You are offered one million dollars if you can win the state championship in a one class system. You have a choice of three teams...............Carmel, Center Grove, or Adams Central. Who do you choose and why?
Might we taking this a little too seriously? You even missed the intent of my post.

I’m a little confused. How is it broken? I think it’s great. Merrillville beat the #2 team in the state. Hopefully the upset trend will continue and give my “not everyone gets a trophy” edict a run for its money...

Nothing will address it unless Carmel decides to build another High School, which is not likely to happen. Numbers don't necessarily equate to athletic greatness. There's no need for any changes unless the schools decide they need to change. They're not going to listen to someone singing sour grapes from another region of the State.
Exactly! All they can do is help. I’d rather have a well-seasoned coach and hungry players any day of the week.
-
About 3 million students go to Carmel, yet they can only field 11 at a time.
Half as many attend Center Grove, but yet only 11 are permitted on the field at a time.
The same does for Adams Central, Batesville, Delta, Elwood, Floyd Central, Gary West, Homestead, Indianapolis (too many too mention😉), Jasper, Kokomo, Lawrence Central, Monroe Central, North Knox, Oregon-Davis (if they had a football team) Penn, Reitz, Southport, Terre Haute North (and South), Union County, Valparaiso, Warren Central, and Zionsville.

6 classes are enough. I know I’ve said this before, but I have seen no compelling argument to make a change. I think the “get better” approach is the way to do things. Everybody should not get a trophy, the ones that work the hardest should.

It seems like the goal posts are being moved. A separate class was created for the largest schools in the state and it should remain that way, not everybody gets a trophy...

Like the idea, but it would never work
It's more like a call for another class, a 7A, if you will. Newsflash: there's no such thing as a perfect system, there will always be outliers....

How does that help the Big 10 with all other conferences expanding both in terms of number of teams and geography? What's the benefit of kicking out Penn State and Nebraska?
We also have to think about other sports...seems to me Maryland is pretty darn good in hoops....
We need both teams, OSU is among the best, kicking them out would be crazy. And the Terps? Pretty good in lacrosse as well...

Think a perfect model for these schools is an 8 team conference.
Had Griffith not left, adding HC would have brought the NCC to 8 teams.
If the NCC would invite Griffith back is unseen, but I think adding Griffith and HC are the 2 best options.
If the goal of the NCC is 8 teams and say HC is a definite yes, bringing the NCC to 7 teams, who should be the 8th, not including Griffith?
Knox?
Boone Grove?
Wheeler?
Others....
If the NCC does expand, I think Griffith will be asked back as well as Hanover and Wheeler. Potentially Boone Grove and Knox, I’m just hoping against a superconference.
