Boilers have 4 guys, 3 stars as seen here verbal for Boilers:  However, only one of that list that I could see getting on the field 1st is Zionsville's Hartwig:  The rest will need to develop it seems.

Trying to snag these 2 guys yet in this cycle:

QB:  https://247sports.com/player/malik-hornsby-46037405/  Word on the street is between Ducks and Boilers

OT:  https://247sports.com/player/courtland-ford-87847/   Word on the street is between Rowing Boats or Boilers

Here is a link to everyone they have extended offers to:

Got his much leaner teammate from 2019 class in Tippman up in land of Bucky.

    Gotcha.

  2. Just win, baby.  The Bears are in for a major letdown as they're buying into they undue hype given them.  Detroit is a dumpster fire, but they would love to play the spoiler.  I've never been sold on Cousins at Minnesota.

But if you'll visit RCHS, @Coach Nowlin will take you by the Wagon Wheel and, if you're benching 600 and can run a 4.4 40, he'll open his own wallet and buy you a Wagon Master to entice/recruit you.  I heard that @CoachDurham and the boys from South Newton heard about this and tried to pass themselves off as potential Bomber recruits.  The jig was up though when @Coach Nowlin almost lost a hand when the Rebel coaches hit the Wagon Masters when they were delivered to the table.

Admittedly, the Wagon Wheel is fine cuisine, but it pales in comparison to the Good Table on the west end of Kentland...

I think a more interesting question might be....what 5 attributes make a football coaching job one of the best in the state.

    Indeed!

I hope that wasn’t directed towards me as I have no dissent. I also vehemently am against the supposed contraction to 289 like @crimsonace1. I posted that Shelbyville completed their season (because it had been stated they shut it all down) with their schedule that had scores. I was asked a goofy question what weaknesses they found to score a TD in Orndleton heights the last two games. I sarcastically responded they ran the same okay week 1 (only other game they scored in) and found that it still worked.

wasnt being mean towards Shelbyville just found it a shall I say goofy question so I came up with a just as goofy answer.

BTW @Gipper what is the best seasoning for coaches? lol Cajun ?

No it wasn’t, Cajun is fine, as is any type of dry rub.

  6. Been thinking about this whole contraction/280 madness.  I just don’t get it.  As populations grow, more schools will be needed, and the kids will need something to do.   Not just the 75 on the team, we’re talking about the support staff, cheerleaders, band, and most importantly fans.  Come to the games and hang out with your friends or make new ones.  Football is a great thing and to place so many restrictions on it is next-level stupid.

    I was guessing

Closest I have ever been to Webo is the 65 exit at Whitestown and Brownsburg  (visitors must think very highly of us when they see those two towns together on a road exit - LOL)

Not really the scientific method, but I digress.  A good friend of mine went there, it's a very good area.  Not very affluent, just a lot of great farmland and people.

Ah, DT again mixing up "contraction" (schools dropping programs) and "consolidation" (schools merging).

I'm not sure why 280 is your magic number. I know you're often confused about the difference between high school and college football, but fewer schools does not mean more quality, because - outside of the largest communities, students aren't likely to jump schools. It just means fewer opportunities. If an isolated rural school drops football, that's 30 or 40 kids who simply won't get the opportunity to play football, not 10 talented kids that will go somewhere else.

High school sports are about opportunities, and the fact that someone actually celebrates and gloats about reducing opportunities for participation in this great game on a high school website is absurd, but par for the course for certain people around here who traffic in absurd, off-base and usually uninformed hot takes.

Those schools are consolidating due to finances and population changes in their communities. As Indiana suburbanizes, consolidation is a reality. But we may also see addition - like Fishers being carved out of HSE.

Programs do not close for "poor results." They may close due to smaller numbers (and those are generally programs at tiny schools), but there are a lot of programs who went through 20+ game losing streaks that continue to run - and some are thriving.

Your last statement couldn't be any more correct.  Athletics are circular at many schools, especially the smaller ones.  In certain years, there could be a bunch of great players (along with a well-seasoned {hi, Lysander} coach), whereas the pickings could be quite slim in other years, but things always do work out.  Sure, I'm not about to book a room at the JW Marriott for when SN makes it to the Luke, but there will always be football in the cornfields on Friday nights...

Columbus East will play the new MEGA Elkhart school Week 3...

Great matchup!  I'd rather see things like this than teams going out of state.  In a way, a format like ESPN's bracket buster could be fun: pair up schools nowhere close to each other.  Lafayette Jeff-Bloomington South, New Pal-Homestead, Lowell-Chatard, even a Contraction Classic of South Newton-Elwood.  And if anyone has the temerity to a suggest neutral site, my hand will penetrate the screen a slap said suggester silly...

DT being DT.  His parameters are skewed...  So teams that have had recent success are Affluent or Private... Teams that struggle need contraction... Apparently there is no in between.

I guess you're a Carmel...or a South Newton.  Then again, I did make the move to Lowell a few years ago and from what I hear, the Devils field a decent squad.  Not really affluent, not at all private, they just enjoy the game without the political musings as it should be.

God forbid WeBo win a third consecutive title ... man just wait until you see what that thread looks like.  The IHSAA will bump you up and then likely put you in the Sectional of Death, Sectional 28, along with all of the other "above average" schools. 😉

Not one for the success factor, never has been.
