Believe Boonville had several kids out against SR as well. @Mockstangboyz said they had 4 OL out and three of them started both ways...

Not what the film from Washington week suggest, I see all the same #'s on the line minus one ?

And ya I said as much a couple weeks ago bout predictions. Throw those out the window this year

In the past 25 years, I can only think of 3 QB's at Linton who gave the Miners a legitimate passing game.   (off the top of my head) They were:  Jake Gennicks, Austin K., and Tyler Muerer.    The Miners have usually been a run first type of offense.   The only exception was the Austin K. years and even then they still ran the ball quite a bit.   This year isn't much different than a lot of other years.   The passing game just isn't there.  But with only 88 yards of total offense last week, the running game wasn't there either.  You have to give credit to Southridge.  Other than the first drive of the game, their defense shut down what the Miners tried to do.  The Miner offensive line was returning the most starters from last year.  They were supposed to be decent.  It looked to me like Southridge pretty much dominated them.   That will have to improve this week and going forward.  I agree the defense played pretty well last week.  Yeah they gave up 28 points but mostly due to the offense turning the ball over and giving Southridge short fields.  Plus they had a pick 6.  I can't recall that Southridge had any long sustained drives.  So the defense showed up.

Uh...you don't accumulate over 250+ yards of total offense by accident. Believe the first drive of the game started at our own 8 and stalled out at the Miner 15. Give the Miners prop's for holding the Raiders out of the end zone - but it wasn't like the Raiders didn't move the ball most of the night. Very few 3 and outs.

IPS is not Warren, Ben Davis, North Central, Pike, Lawrence.... all in Marion County but they are their own township school systems. As to how they are teaching I don't know.  I doubt any two are the same.

That is very confusing to me...but thanks for the clarification.

Does anyone know if those schools are operating virtually or?

  4. Are schools up in Indy operating virtually or in-person?? I thought I remembered reading somewhere awhile back that all IPS schools were going to go virtual until like October?? Is that the case, and if so, does that include Warren and Ben Davis?? And aren't they playing football games?? Any other schools around the State operating as virtual, but still playing games?

I'm hoping with the new CDC guidelines that we will be brought back to normal here real soon...

  5. I know the predictions threads are always popular and keep members coming back to post - but honestly,  with the COVID protocols, who really the heck knows? A team could be without potential starters and/or key back-ups for a game or 2...but should make for some interesting banter as the season goes along...

At least we're out there playing!

about 4 weeks into the season for all the teams playing.

Every team in Indiana who got to play this weekend only was able to see each other or possibly a controlled scrimmage last week, with many of those not even going on.   I know for our team, I am not panicing, as that was our 1st game vs a solid 4a team after only seeing 14-16 year old scout team players last 2 weeks.   THAT IS A HUGE difference and the process is just now beginning.  Not complaining, just the reality of the situation everyone is under.

Got 9 weeks to get it right with our teams around the state of Indiana.

Just my thoughts after reading comments on our site and online here since kickoff.

Excited to be back and hope to stay back.

Lack of prep time - not to mention COVID protocols and who could/could not be available to a team in a given week - will make for a hard to predict season. People on here will get "giddy" with all the upsets, but the truth of the matter is teams could be down/without several key players in a given week or 2, then have them back later. That is - if proper protocols are being followed 🤔

  7. SO ...New Pal cancels week 1 game, but everything will be ready to rock/roll in week 2?? Good thing the virus will be contained by that point (tongue-in-cheek)

Seriously though - is it basically just the schools up in Northern Indiana that have pulled the  plug on the season?? I can't keep it straight right now....some Indy schools have cancelled week 1 and 2 games? Warren Central has??

I guess I just don't understand, if you have enough players, cancelling one week but turning right back around and being able to play the next?? Are you cancelling because "key" players are out?? And if that's the case ...shame shame.

On a related note, it looks like Dubois County HD is going to allow 50% capacity at Southridge.  Gibson to be announced soon.

Darn straight- if schools can be in session, then athletics should be played. Simple as that. (No idea what the Big Ten was thinking??! How on earth can you justify 30k on a college campus, living in dorms, communal bathrooms, frat parties- but yet won’t let 22 guys on a football field?)

We ain’t afraid of no Rona down here in Southern Indiana!

  9. But I don’t really wanna try and comb through all the pages to find out. Can someone supply a list of schools that have postponed their fall sports as of now? And until when??

Maybe im not paying attention enough- but it seems they are all Northern Indiana schools? What’s the deal up there?

I apologize  for my ignorance - but seriously down here in Southern Indiana it’ seems all systems go.

Did you think “numbers” were going to go down after our reopen?  Case numbers are fearporn and a simplistic view of a complex issue.  Going back to school and sports isn’t going to make things worse in Indiana in terms of “numbers” that matter.  Remember, crude case counts are only newsworthy when they are RISING.

I’ve never heard that word used until this recent pandemic. I see someone is a fan of a certain sports radio personality!

Have to think this is a good hire for TC football, wonder if he will employ more of a spread attack like he had as OC at SS and as they run at Owensboro? TC returns A LOT of players and have an opportunity to have a very good year, felt Coach Clements had them going in a good direction. Expect coach Webb to continue that and TC to compete for the small school conference title.

If I’m not mistaken- I believe the Red Devils of Owensboro run more of an option attack similar to what TC has employed the last couple of years. Probably a big factor in the hiring process I assume. Believe it’s Owensboro Catholic that spreads it around

    Who wins each sectional?

    CLASS 3A
    Sectional 25  Knox?
    Sectional 26  Mishawaka Marian?
    Sectional 27  Fort Wayne Concordia?
    Sectional 28  Chatard?
    Sectional 29  Danville?
    Sectional 30  Vincennes Lincoln?
    Sectional 31  Lawrenceburg?
    Sectional 32  Gibson Southern?

🤦‍♂️ (not for the choice of winner- that it was ever created in the first place)

Nothing personal at all.  Just sketchy.  My district actually has competitive wages and pays folks what they are worth...

Whether they are teaching kindergarten students lifetime reading skills, helping students pass state mandated standardized tests, or sitting in a weight room all day dissecting film for the big Friday night contest, it’s all relative to priorities I guess...

Ok ok so now I finally see the motivation behind this thread. You believe there should be a “sliding scale” so-to-speak in terms of teacher pay. And it should be correlated to what exactly?? I tend to agree that a classroom teacher hard at it with 6 classes a day has a lot more on their plate with planning, grading, data charts, etc than say a PE/Strength teacher- but how could you possibly justify a change in salary structure?? Ain’t happening

“A coach may have a Master's degree that gets a small bump in pay.”

Delusion at its finest.  A small bump?  Two head coaches above are making 25+k MORE than the top of the pay scale in their district.

You also know that teacher’s license credentials and specific job titles are also public info on the DOE right?

Check it out for yourself...the numbers just don’t add up.

Just don’t add up?? Are you accusing school districts of “fudging their books” in order to pay coaches?? That’s pretty serious accusations...I’d tred lightly throwing around that speak.

And why so obsessed/jealous of how much another’s making ?? Do you feel it’s not fair? If you really feel strongly perhaps you should voice your concern with local school board/superintendent.

Do I wish I could make more?? Sure...but I’m not gonna ever cut down someone for getting theirs...teachers are grossly UNDERPAID as a profession. Plain and simple

Came across a topic of teacher salaries and unsure if folks know that public school teaching salaries are public information.  Decided to take a look at what the "best of the best" are making in terms of money.  Rounded the numbers and assume this calculates the stipends involved with coaching.  Most recent data is from 2018, so it does not take the most recent coaching changes at Pike and Lawrence Central into account.

Warren Central:  $98,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 72k)

Carmel:  $94,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 79k)

North Central:  $94,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 85k)

Lawrence North:  $91,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 80k)

Pike:  $90,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 86k)

Center Grove:  $86,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 72k)

Lawrence Central:  $62,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 80k)

Ben Davis:  $55,000 (max salary on DOE is listed at 84k)

Some of these guys have paid their dues and may very well be near/at the "top of the pay scale" in terms of time in education, but my goodness this is embarrassing.  I love football and athletic in general as much as the next person and realize it generates a lot of revenue for the school/district./corporation but even I cannot justify this.  One corporation has its head coach listed as an "administrator" while most others are listed as teachers, strength coaches, etc...

Math adds up for most if you think about it.  Looks like most stipends for football are between 9-15k.

    If only the public knew...

I’m confused as to the purpose of this post?? Are you upset with the amount that Head Coaches get paid? Upset with the teacher pay scale in general??

If the article is incorrect with any facts, then I hope they run a different one in the upcoming days to clarify any mistake...

Two pictures in the photo gallery clearly present the fact social distancing is not taking place - No dates are given with the pictures, but it's not illogical to assume they coincide with the dates of the article (4/6).

    1. Picture 2 in the gallery Appears to be in a public park - assume it is before restrictions were put in place, but article does not clarify that at all
    2. Picture 4 in the gallery Appears to be at a person's home with their own personal equipment - again I assume it is before restrictions were put in place, but article does not clarify that at all

Another statement in the article could be perceived as troublesome - "the group cleared the Dragons’ weight room the morning of March 13 and initiated an offsite workout routine until school resumed."  Does that mean they reallocated the school's weightroom (or parts of it) to an off-campus location and players are organizing/running workouts from said location?

Article states a specific New Pal" family has invited players into their home where they have a weight room and an indoor basketball court." - Article was published on 4/6.  Again, this invitation existed after numerous gyms have closed across the states and all professional/college teams have shut down all operations, based on when the article was presented.

Article cites four current players that "have shared their weight equipment with teammates in limited groups of 3-4 at a time."  - Article published on 4/6 and highlights travel that wouldn't be deemed essential.

On the first day of group runs in mid-March, nearly 40 players showed up to voluntarily participate.  -  Again not on coaches as the article states voluntarily, but that is not the issue.  Thousands of people had to abruptly adjust their lifestyle based on what was being ordered by state leaders.  Participation in this workout shouldn't be applauded (which is the general tone of the article), but rather used as an experience to learn from.

Citing two specific players..."the players often break into position groups during their brief small, group meetings."  -  Are these happening online?  Or is the park still a meeting point?  If it is the latter, position group meetings are not essential travel.

“A lot of guys have been trying to find ways to lift at their house or in groups of two or three will have them lifting at someone’s house." -  Groups of two or three is an effective practice of social distancing, but traveling to do it???

Again, the article was published on 4/6, which is many days after we've been on essential travel only guidelines.  We can only assume that traveling to "small-group workouts/meetings" has taken place based on the facts in the article and when it was published.  This article is either poorly written/worded or it is celebrating small-scale violations of the stay at home order.  I am not a keyboard warrior...I read the article and I stated the facts presented in the article.  It's been great seeing the High School Sports Community rally on social media and see the numerous different ways High School Athletes are able to work out/adjust to this crisis (and based on New Pal's track record, I'm sure they have dozens of kids safely working hard!!!), but I question why the article celebrates travel to work out or any meeting/voluntary work-out that took place between mid-March to today.  These issues are not for the coaches to fix, advise on, or stop, but they need to be stopped nonetheless for the next few weeks.

It is touching that you are so concerned about the health of the New Pal players and community. Good on ya...

Ps...I have no idea what’s true/not true/why the article was even written in the first place. Any person with a brain would know it’s gonna bring up question marks??

I am 100 percent alright with that.  My job as an educator is to educate my students.  I want the best teachers in my building.  Football which is a a sport that I hold dearly, however, it  is an extracurricular.  If that means out sports programs are at a disadvantage, but they receive a great education, I can sleep just fine at night.

I'm sure your coaches appreciate it.

As long as they don't receive any community/school board pressure to produce on the field, I'm sure they are fine with it too....
