2A State Championship Bishop Luers vs North Posey
jets replied to jakone's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I’m sure they will. NP is about a 3 1/2 hour drive to Indy- and they kickoff is 10 am (their time)…that would make for an early Saturday morning if you left day of. -
2A State Championship Bishop Luers vs North Posey
jets replied to jakone's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I actually don’t think this game will be all that close. Luers may hang around for a quarter or 2- but in the end I see NP’s physicality wearing them down. Give me NP by 17 -
Dumbest.Idea.Ever. I can't believe a State actually does that. I mean, it makes sense for the biggest schools ...what you are describing is essentially their State tournament anyway. But let's say you are a once-in-a-lifetime class and you have a chance to win your 4A title - but then the State elects you to play up against Center Grove. That is suppose to be rewarding?!?

4A State Championship: Northwood vs East Central
jets replied to Trojan12's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Admittedly- have not seen EC play a snap this year…but had a buddy tell me they are pretty old school in terms of offensive scheme?? 2 back, under center?? Don’t see that much anymore!! Kuddos -
Care to elaborate on that?? From my perspective- the Pats totally and utterly dominated the first half in terms of field position (opening kickoff of the game certainly didn’t help matters) and made the big-time “splash” plays needed in order to win a game of this magnitude. Speaking of which- Southern Indiana certainly showed out last night- what a crowd!! Great season Titans and good luck next week Patriots

Chatard vs Knox Semi-state
jets replied to ArmyVet80's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well - to answer @tango question as far as the difference - what I DID NOT see was a school with a large student population filled with free/reduced lunch #'s, students with IEP's, or a large EL population. Not saying a school can't be successful with those numbers, but just pointing out the differences and the challenges those can bring. And look - I'm not bashing P/P education or even their success. Good for them - but I just can't fathom how one can IGNORE those obvious factors and just point to "CYO" and a hard work ethic as reasons for success. -
Chatard vs Knox Semi-state

What is the secret sauce that the P/P's have over similar public counterparts?? You really don't know the answer? LOL...I can tell you it is NOT that you all have figured out you need to have a Youth program - that is happening in every good football program in the State. The answer is very plain and simple - the socioeconomic build-up of your student population. I have walked the halls of Memorial and I have walked the halls of SR - I can tell you they are NOT the same - not even CLOSE. Even though our enrollments might be close in #- I can tell you we are not pulling from the same population. And that right there folks is the biggest difference between your publics and P/P's. I believe Titan32 has coined the term "effective enrollment" It is NOT because you all figured out how to have a YOUTH program lol.....the arrogance -

What in the holy world?? Do you really believe what makes Chatard stand out above the others is their youth league?!? Really?? You think that is the special sauce that they’ve figured out that others haven’t?!? Wow… -

Or the fact that MD NEVER got moved up...not once ? -
Another week - and more championships represented by the "best small school conference in the STATE!" I know things are cyclical in nature, but proud to have 3 PAC teams represented in the upcoming semi-states. A job well done by the Titans, Patriots, and Vikings. Hopefully the IHSAA will continue to spread out these teams so we don't all devour each other in the same sectionals. Best of luck on your preparations this week. The Jungle will be rocking on Friday.

Was watching a little bit of the Warren/CG game last night that was tight throughout- and it got me thinking… What are some of the biggest “upsets” that have taken place in the IHSAA football tournament?? I know we rarely have the #1 ranked team win in all classes so technically you could say they happen every year- but I’m talking “super teams” everyone just assumed were going to walk thru the tourney?? I fancy myself a historian somewhat of high school football and really- I couldn’t come up with many. The Zachary teams that everyone thought would dominate did…Anthrops LCC teams did, Kisner Pioneer teams- same. Warren Central with Tardy…yup. Banks with Ben Davis, they won it. Heck even as far back as Grossman with BS.

Good luck Vikings! I know you all have been waiting on this year - so go make the best of it and represent the PAC and bring home some hardware! -
“Recruiting is real in high school."
jets replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think I was the first to reply to this thread and said the exact same thing. In the "recruiting" world - I actually understand that P/P HAVE to do that in some regards ...their schools literally would not exists if they didn't "sell" their schools. However, publics going after other athletes from other publics - to me - that is just flat wrong. Coaches doing so would be Harbaugh-like stupid ...there are plenty of parents out there willing to do the dirty work. We're not allowed to talk about a certain State Championship and how "key pieces" just happened to fall into a certain programs lap conveniently/coincidentally. Bottom line, until the IHSAA really wants to take a hardline stance (which they won't) - it will still go on. Get better or get used to it.
