Sheridan's new coach -Jake Chesney.
jets replied to Gatorguy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Just observing from afar ...maybe, just maybe - since this guy had been on staff and been the "Associate Head Coach" (is that what the article stated?), perhaps there was a push from players that they wanted him to be HC. Ya know, kind of like a Marcus Freeman type deal? -
1. And the IHSAA has a transfer process to figure out the reasoning. It is my understanding that 99% of transfers get approved no problem. You are having no empathy at all for programs whose players are routinely RECRUITED (oh no, there is that word) and poached. Yes, it happens... 2. I stated in my previous email - that no coach/parent/school should want a kid to be miserable or ruin their playing experience. At the end of the day, if the situation is toxic, then yes, get out. BUT - I think, as a society as a whole - we've kowtowed to the AAU/travel ball culture and generally just held kids by the hand a little bit.
-
Ya - why would we want to teach children/student-athletes lessons like overcoming adversity, sticking through tough times, becoming mentally tougher. Instead, let's let them jump ship anytime they don't get their way or heaven forbid, some coaches actually challenges them or worse yet, even yell at them. OH NO, GET OUT AS SOON AS YOU CAN. Obviously, no one wants a kid to be miserable - but we've gone too far the other way. You see it in NCAA as well. Whatever - just the reason we'll lose WW3 when it happens...we're bringing up a soft generation.

Just as Gibson was for a number of years - Jasper is/has been the "sleeping giant" in terms of football (great socioeconomic culture, great people/resources, pricey housing (see socioeconomics) , etc... In a weird twist of fate - it was Nick Hart that brought Gibson into the limelight - and Jasper appears to be going with (younger? older?) brother Derrick to resurrect their program.

John Barron facing legal issues
jets replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
SO - is there any ramifications to the school/district/student who brought these false allegations forth?? Seems like, just looking at it from the outside - a vindictive student completely ruins a guys life (I mean, from what I'm reading - the Coach was fired from his position, correct? So assuming that means he had to find a job outside of the education profession) -
Lol…you should spend some time and see actually just how many (few) head football coaches are actually CORE subject (classroom) teachers anymore. At smaller schools sure…but I would bet of the 320 (or so) football playing schools, it’s less than 20%. I tried to do an informal poll of this once. PE/Strength were obviously the most popular positions held- followed by some “Admin” responsibilities (AD, Dean of Students, etc), Study Hall/Lunch monitors was another popular way to fill time.
-
And again I ask - what is the big deal if it was?? I'm not trying to be argumentative - I genuinely am ignorant on the practice of IV's...like - what is the big deal if a player was? Is there some kind of medical risk? Is there some kind of competitive advantage (I'm assuming rehydration?)
-
I don't even understand the "questioning" of this practice?? You think it is an unfair advantage?? What's next, you're not allowed to drink Gatorade at halftime?? Granted, not everyone has the "means" to pull off such an act (IV's throughout the game) - but if you do - more power to you. It's not like they are pumping steroids' or HGH lol...

Sharpe Out At Noblesville
jets replied to Boilernation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Wait...so I'm confused - Mr. Hebert was the previous coach at Carmel, but just "resigned" - only to take a Coaching job for the next football season?? I know we are not ever allowed to discuss anything in terms of the rumor-mill on this forum, but this seems odd to me? Seems to me 2 plausible explanations for this scenario: 1. His "resignation" was more of a "suggestion" type deal 2. The article mentioned he has a son in the Noblesville feeder program, and took this as an opportunity to Coach his son (which is certainly most understandable) -

Answer me this : Chatard's 630 student population ....(Name any public School) 630 student population You think they are the same?? And you think its ok for Chatard (or any P/P) to play in the same classification ?? If you do think they should AND IT IS FAIR - well then, that's where we differ greatly -
This right here.

Ok I'm not very good at reading code - but maybe you're suggesting VL is heading to this conference?? If so - the SIAC goes to 9 teams, that means one out-of-conference game (in football of course), correct?? That means the Dubois County rivalry renewed!! (Or, would Jasper try and schedule HH first?? )
-
It's not a very well kept secret that VL wants out ...they've made that pretty well known. That would put the SIAC at 9 teams, with one opportunity for an out-of-conference. VL moving to our conference would even things out at 14 teams - but I'm petty - they didn't want in the first time around....sorry bout your luck. We (the PAC) extended our hand for the defunct Big 8 ....VL didn't want any part of it. So sorry bout ya.
-
Really?? You would have thought based on the Bud firing (yes, that's what I'm calling it) - that the Admin seem to be "sticklers" for discipline??? Your description seems to describe the opposite? Maybe you just had a bad day or 2 ....
-
Well...reading "between the lines" so to speak from Coach Wright in his press release - sounds like you have them. It was "quit or be fired..."
-
Do we still have any posters from Sheridan on this forum?? How is this being taken within the community??

Sure...what I meant is take the situation you are describing and multiply it by 10X - thus making us a permanent residence in a classification we probably don't belong in when comparing student participation numbers. As is life though... -

I think you are missing the point of a multiplier ...it is implemented (at least, to my understanding) to acknowledge the fact that P/P enrollment (for the most part) doesn't have Special Education programs, and/or low socio-economic/disadvantaged students - thus creating an advantage when your sole factor in classification is enrollment number. Again, Chatard/Memorial's 620 is not the same as a public's 620. I do applaud the success factor and agree it has been a good thing. Just ask the Patriots this year...they may not have had that blue ring if Chatard was in 3A. -

We could go back-and-forth all day over this issue. IN MY OPINION (which according to some on here isn't worth much) - AT LEAST Illinois is ATTEMPTING to address the OBVIOUS advantages that P/P hold, and THAT IS their enrollment advantages. Memorial/Chatard's 620 students ARE NOT the same as a public school's 620 students. Thus, a multiplier Then, a success factor for those public schools that might hold "other advantages" as you put it. I don't agree with Illinois on MUCH, but in this regard, they earn my applause -

HAHA - if you honestly believe that P/P don't hold any discernible advantages - then this discussion is a mute point. Chatard, Luers, Lutheran, Cathedral, Roncalli, Memorial etc etc etc...the list goes on and on. I can promise you, they are not "just better at playing football" then the public counterparts. We need a system that "levels" the "unlevel" advantages the p/p enjoy over their public counterparts - and that is their enrollment is.not.the.same EVEN THOUGH it may be the same number. If you don't understand that, I can't help you. -

At least they do SOMETHING - here in good ol Indiana we just put our heads in the sand and act like it is a non-issue! I guess we have the success factor - almost worked to perfection this year with 5 of 6 public school State Champs.
