  1. I don’t know if there is a prefect metric when trying to put together a list like this. Even comparing the # of sectional titles can be skewed as some sectionals are much tougher than others. I will point out SR has 4 State Tital appearances while HH has 3....and GS has none (to this point- that will change in about 5 hours).
  2. Blocked FG and/or Punt behind the line of scrimmage (4th down)...live ball. Defense picks it up and attempts return - makes it about 10 yards and fumbles, original offense recovers. 1st and 10 for the original offense? (The team attempting FG/Punt) And then...does this enforcement change if it was 3rd down?
  3. Out of a possible 5 games so far in the tournament (3 in sectional, a regional, and now a semi-state) , who has had the LEAST amount of home games and done the most traveling? On the flip side, who has had the "dream draw" and played most of their games at home?? (I'm assuming there hasn't been anyone who has been able to host every round?) I always find it interesting how some teams seem to get more home games during the tourney...would like to see the results. Thanks
  4. Granted - we (SR) have not put our best foot forward in those contest. I could provide a myriad of reasons, but doesn't change the fact that we just got it handed to us. That said - I still don't think TW has any idea what it is up against.
  5. Give me the Titans in this one by 3+ scores. I think the Titan's learned their lesson in last week's nail-bitter that they can't let their foot off the gas in the tournament, not even being up 28-7 in the 3rd. The Titans survived their wake-up call , the train keeps rolling all the way to Lukas Oil.
  6. Know absolutely NOTHING about Tri-West, other than they took out Danville in Sectionals. What are the Titans getting themselves into? What kind of offensive set does Tri run?
  7. MAN - WHAT A GAME! Very happy that I choose to attend this in person. First of all- hats off the Lawrenceburg Tigers. Having seen them the past 2 years, I knew that they had a hungry bunch of seniors and that their QB was a gamer - but I honestly just didn't think they had what it took to run with this Titan squad...and honestly, at 28-7 in the 3rd, I was thinking this was going to be another GS cakewalk (and if I'm being honest, I wonder if the Titans themselves didn't breathe a little sigh themselves) But, ol "Mr. Mo" is a funny thing, and as the Tiger comeback started to roll, you could feel the energy in the stadium start to shift. It made for a very entertaining last 12 minutes or so. What a job #63 and #70 did blocking that beast from Lawrenceburg...not sure he had a sack the entire game (although he did affect numerous plays)...#43 from GS was EVERYWHERE on defense, and even caught a TD pass and did some H-back blocking, and then #13 in the backfield for the Titans sure seemed to rip off some runs right when GS could feel it slipping. Kuddos to the Titans - sure is an exciting time for you all and I hope you win the whole thing.
  8. I realize this might be lazy on my part, but can this become a thread dedicated to include all the links to tonight/this weekend's game being livestreamed?? I'm not sure where/how to access them. Thanks in advance
  9. Have these 2 ever played before?? If not, is that advantage Eastbrook with their break-neck style pace?? I have to assume that is quite the adjustment the first time you play it??
  10. Hey look guys - we got some recognition!! I get playing up the underdog/disrespect card. That can be a powerful motivator BUT- I still think they are barking up the wrong tree in this situation. MAYBE if this was a "normal" thing for GS and they've "been there/done that" type of scenario - but this GS is foaming at the bit for their turn at the blue ring. Sorry Tigers, bad timing. ps.....How in the world can they NOT find a bus?? I'm assuming he means a chartered one?? If not, I'm sure we have school buses they can borrow.
  11. Interesting thought entered my mind the other day....is this one instance for Memorial where they are GLAD to be Success Factor'd up?? Meaning, they've avoided this years Gibson Southern team?? I know you've handled business against them in the past...but just wondering...
  12. L-burg has been waiting on this bunch to become seniors - and they are a talented bunch, but they ran into BAD TIMING on this one. L-Burg's QB is the real deal, but in the end, I don't think it's going to matter. Anything can happen in HS football, but I don't see any way this season ends without the Titans holding the big trophy at the end.
  13. Always enjoy your write up's and passion for Miner football. However one critique I could offer from a journalistic standpoint - it's bad form if you're going to use players name in an unflattering moment in the game (ie "Ralph was pancaked" ) and not use the same verbiage when speaking of Miner mistakes. (ie "a couple missed tackles") Just an observation
  14. Weird indeed?? To my understanding, the de facto start time is 7:00 PM est on Friday night if the 2 teams can’t come to an understanding?? This 6:30 start time would again imply a little “gamenship” on Triton Centrals part. I have no idea if that’s the case...but the 11 AM Saturday a couple years ago would fit with this narrative. Personally, I’m always a little disappointed when the hosting team tries to play “hardball” on postseason times. You’re just on the good side of the draw,
  15. Don’t know much about these 2 northern teams. What kind of offense did Eastside employ to keep the ball from Luers for so long?? I’m assuming Eastbrook still employs the hurry-up Wing T/Midline??
  16. About time Lawrenceburg had to come down this way. Unfortunately for them - I think it will be the same result as the last 2 times they met sectional 32 winners. In fact, this one might be the worst of the 3. No one is stopping this GS train. Does this make 3 straight home games for Gibson?? Geez...talk about stars aligning for a particular year!
  17. I figured you’d find that post and comment accordingly. Notice I did say COULD have been. The fact of the matter is because of the SF, we will never know- and I thought that was the question proposed in this thread.
  18. You seem to forget that team last year very well could have been a State Championship team in 2A. And 2019 could have made a postseason run as well...or who knows about this year’s team. It 100% has affected us lol. I still find it ironic that it has been Southridge...Not Gibson (your time is coming), not HH, not MD, not Jasper- but SR that has been the only area school touched by the SF from our area. (Minus Memorial of course) . And it hasn’t just been a 2 year window like it’s was suppose to be
  19. I sure hope it was for academic rigor. Being a parent myself, I can’t imagine how that conversation goes if it was for athletic purposes. It still seems a really strange situation to me. Wonder how their morning breakfast was today?? Best of luck to both teams tonight.
  20. Getting in late to this thread - so I apologize if this has been covered in the 3 pages of responses that I might have missed or not understood. (Lots of words and text to read through, and admittingly, I just kind of skimmed) But what I have heard from my friends in the officiating community down here in the South is sheer FRUSTRATION in the process of advancing in the tournament. I have a close personal relationship with a couple guys on a couple crews, and both have been vocal to me about the disappointment of not getting games pass the second round. I know one friend who was really hoping to get a Sectional Championship game, only to be disappointed in not receiving one. I don't know what all goes into it - but he made it sound very political and like their was favoritism placed more towards the Indy metro area and how hard it is for Southern crews to advance? I do know their crew is a very good one - very knowledgeable and professional - and he has voiced how he is tired of the process and considering giving it up just being passed over year after year. I know officiating is a thankless job and I know we struggle to keep good officials - so when I know a guy is in it for the right reasons and is considering giving it up - that is cause for concern for me and a red flag that something needs to change. Don't shoot the messenger
  21. While I understand the rivalry and trying to drum up some excitement - Gibson Southern running clocked all sectional opponents during the regular season, and have running clocked their first 2 sectional opponents. I don't see much changing during Championship week. I think HH might be able to stay away from the 35+ margin, as the Titans may be dealing with some injury issues...but I also don't see it being that competitive of a ballgame. Hard to believe having a D1 arm in that offense, that this would be Mr. Allen's first sectional championship. No knock on the young man - hopefully that's more a testament of the football down this way. Best of luck to both teams....
  22. I asked this earlier in the thread, but not sure I received a real clear answer. (I think some people took it as trying to drum up “recruit” talk- which I wasn’t) ...genuinely curious as to how common the MD QB situation is with kiddos in the same household?? (One brothere at NP, the other at MD) I just can’t wrap my head around what that household must be like this week
