  1. More examples of possibilities. Each has advantages/disadvantages - I think what EVERYONE in 3A will agree though is that Sectional 30 needed changed Posted November 30 Thought about starting a separate thread for Southern 3A sectional alignment possibilities ...but this could/would serve the same purpose. Don't hate what you have down here - but I think it could be improved. (I don't believe you can but Missinneswea and Alexandia in the SOUTHERN sectionals....also, believe you left off some teams)Here is what I've come up with and reasoning with it. Sectional 29 (we'll call this the "Indy Sectional") - Danville, WeBo, Tri-West, Ritter, Indian Creek, Indy Washington, Manual, and Guerin Catholic Sectional 30 (HAD to be fixed. We'll call this the "come on up Highway 41 Sectional) - West Vigo, Washington, Princeton, Gibson Southern, Vincennes Lincoln, Edgewood, Greencastle, and Brown County Sectional 31 (We'll call this Eastern Indiana) - Franklin County, Lawrenceburg, North Harrison, Batesville, Charleston, Scottsburg, Owen Valley, and Rushville. *Not sure about the competitive balance here..but I think it's better than the ol Sectional 30... Sectional 32 (What's left in Southern Indiana) - Corydon, Salem, Pike Central, Southridge, Heritage Hills, Bosse, Mt. Vernon
  2. We've been down this road multiple times on this thread. A # of different ways it can be broken down - will just be whatever logic/sense the IHSAA wants to come up with: Posted December 3 IF the IHSAA decided to go "that route", meaning back to 15 and 16, I think it's more likely it's broken down this way - I think it makes more sense time-zone wise. 31 (eastern time zone teams) - Corydon, Salem, Charleston, Scottsburg, Rushville, Brown County, North Harrison, Southridge 32 (central time zone) - Mt. Vernon, Bosse, Vincennes Lincoln, Gibson Southern, Princeton, H.H., Washington, Pike Central
  3. Ok ok ok - not trying to turn it into a discussion/argument about that. We all know examples of teachers just doing the "bare minimum" to get by. I know strength/PE teachers have their own challenges - but to act like it's the same as preparing daily lessons, assessments, grading, etc...as a core academic teacher is just ignorant. And that's not a criticism. I believe there is WAY too much on a head coaches plate to try and do both. I was just curious as to if there are any "big name" programs out there (6A) whose Head Coach does try and tackle an academic subject??
  4. I doubt anyone could compile all this data - but it'd be interesting to get a breakdown of the HC's in the MIC and other 6A teams (Brownsburg, Avon, etc...) and what position in the school system they actually hold. I'm assuming most would be some sort of "strength coach" ? Assistant AD's?? Would ANY be a "regular" classroom teacher??
  5. How many head coaches are actually "classroom teachers" (not talking strength/conditioning ) anyway?? With the increasing demands in the classroom, it's not really attainable.
  6. It started with Center Grove...now spilling into Avon, Brownsburg, New Pal, Mt Vernon. Everyone wants that suburbia life. No one is willing to roll up their sleeves in the inner city big schools- minus O’Shea is it??
  7. Maybe this is just an ignorant statement on my part being a simple country-bumpkin from a relatively small (enrollment 500ish)- but good lord. Most of these schools have 2,000+ students to choose from, figure it out !
  8. SES ??? Socio-economic status?? How is that determined?? Is there a metric for it?
  9. IF the IHSAA decided to go "that route", meaning back to 15 and 16, I think it's more likely it's broken down this way - I think it makes more sense time-zone wise. 31 (eastern time zone teams) - Corydon, Salem, Charleston, Scottsburg, Rushville, Brown County, North Harrison, Southridge 32 (central time zone) - Mt. Vernon, Bosse, Vincennes Lincoln, Gibson Southern, Princeton, H.H., Washington, Pike Central
  10. VINCENNES up in the Indy sectional?? Uh...that just makes about 0 sense at all. I think you'd be better serviced moving a school like Indian Creek up north, moving someone (Edgewood, Owen Valley?) to 30, and then someone from 32 to 31, and Vincennes to 32. I mean, Vincennes is in the SIAC for pete's sake lol.
  11. Ahh you mean the ol East/West of Southern Indiana sectional alignments?? I tried to run that one through as well (Basically splitting up 31 and 32 between "Evansville" area (32) and "other" Southern Indiana, mostly eastern (31) ...but without Sullivan and/or Memorial and it's looking like Brownstown - it was a little tougher to make work. It would look something like: 31 (eastern time zone teams) - Corydon, Salem, Charleston, Scottsburg, Rushville, Brown County, North Harrison, Southridge 32 (central time zone) - Mt. Vernon, Bosse, Vincennes Lincoln, Gibson Southern, Princeton, H.H., Washington, Pike Central Not sure I love this set-up, but you are right, it is another way they could go...?

  13. You make a lot of good observations/points. Well done and thought out. I agree 100% with the "ebb/flow" of the success factor cycle. NOW - one point to consider is, and it is of my opinion only - is that the SF shouldn't apply to those publics. Most are the beneficiaries of successful classes going through the school, and will return to the "mean" after their cycle is through - but yet it's the younger classes (who only get one shot at this high school football thing) having to pay for the success of earlier classes. You'll say it's the same in the P/Ps?? Sure, but again, with obvious inherent advantages, I do believe they should play by a little bit different set of rules. I don't think it will ever happen, but that is my belief.
  14. I just want to make sure I have this right. I haven't read through all 4 pages of this thread, so forgive me if it's been brought up. Off the top of my head (without doing any research)- the SF this past classification cycle had these teams "moved up" : Pioneer (from 1A to 2A) semi-State loss to Luers Southridge (2A to 3A) semi-state loss to Danville Memorial (3A to 4A)...sectional loss to Evansville Central New Pal (4A to 5A) ...sectional loss to Mt. Vernon Cathedral ? (are they 4A by enrollment?) So, 3 Public Schools and 2 P/Ps? State Champs this year in 1A, 3A, 4A, and 5A were all P/Ps - are we sure this thing is working as it should?
  15. Well- in my personal opinion-whether they “care” about football or not, the advantages are still prevalent- so I’ve advocated for a simple bump of one class to all P/Ps. If that is too broad- then call it what it is and bump any P/P’s with 10 or more State Championships 😜..
  16. Very well stated. And the end of every season you’ll get the “good ol boy argument” of “Well ya they (PP) recruit” and “ya they get to decide how many people they have” ... Most educated individuals have moved past those points - but it still doesn’t mean PP’s don’t have obvious advantages that their public counterparts do not- as you stated above. And to ignore them, or not at least recognize them is simply ignorant. I’m much like you in regards I don’t really have much ill-will towards PP’s- but I’m not naive enough to ignore their obvious advantages.
  17. Best of luck to both teams here in about an hour or so. Curious if some WeBo poster can shed some light on a question I’ve been pondering. Before this 3 year explosion- was it safe to say WeBo was just a “middle of the road 3A school” ?? Meaning- had t won a sectional since the early 90s?? Why the sudden drop in enrollment to 2A??
  18. While good in theory, the SF publishes PUBLIC schools who, like it or not, do not have the inherent advantages that P/P's do. Again, it's really that simple. While I agree with your premise in that really the SF rose with the Cathedral's and Chatards and Luers of the world, it has conversely affected classes in PUBLIC schools who really, had no impact on the success of their previous classmates. Your approach I believe is a little to "narrow" in scope- focused solely on the "big dogs" of the football world so-to-speak. There are Mater Dei's of the world...the Memorial's...the Guernin Catholics, etc...that are still playing with a "loaded deck of cards" in comparison to their public school counterparts. It is just the facts of the matter. Playing up a class is the simplest and easiest solution - but as stated previously - the IHSAA will never/doesn't have the guts to pull that trigger.
  19. Parochials/Private play UP a class. It’s really that simple. I’ve walked the halls of a public school- I’ve walked the halls of private/parochial- They(P/P) just have a different clientele. It’s really that simple. The IHSAA are just cowards when it comes to the subject.
  20. Don't get off-track there fellas...this week/thread should be about the 2 teams remaining. We'll have plenty of time to discuss the JOKE of a sectional the IHSAA put together and how to fix it.
  21. As long as SOMEONE fixes Sectional 30 !! I was going to start a thread about 3A sectional re-alignments - but thought it best to wait until the season ended. (Danville moving up is a possibility)
  22. I'll throw my 2 cents (if it's even worth that much) on the match-up this weekend. First of all, I know ZERO about Chatard, so I'll just assume they are the juggernaut they always are. Danville has some D.U.D.E.S that can flat out play. Physical, aggressive, skilled - and seemed to be very well coached. If there is one thing that might hold them back from taking down Chatard, it could be their lack of "creativity" on offense. You pretty well know what you're going to get - it's just a matter of if you can stop it. No one in the South put up much of a fight, so hard to tell. Good luck to both teams this weekend. ps...How in the world is Chatard 3A?? This SF thing seems awfully "flawed", IMO
  23. Sorry for that performance- but Danville is dang good. Congrats to them and good luck next week. Am I allowed to lets not forget that was a 2A school playing in the 3A Semi-State?? I feel like I’ll get burned at the cross so maybe I should retract it.............na Proud of our guys for stepping up and answering the Bell. Just ran into a damn good team
