  1. That is very confusing to me...but thanks for the clarification. Does anyone know if those schools are operating virtually or?
  2. Are schools up in Indy operating virtually or in-person?? I thought I remembered reading somewhere awhile back that all IPS schools were going to go virtual until like October?? Is that the case, and if so, does that include Warren and Ben Davis?? And aren't they playing football games?? Any other schools around the State operating as virtual, but still playing games? I'm hoping with the new CDC guidelines that we will be brought back to normal here real soon...
  3. I know the predictions threads are always popular and keep members coming back to post - but honestly, with the COVID protocols, who really the heck knows? A team could be without potential starters and/or key back-ups for a game or 2...but should make for some interesting banter as the season goes along... At least we're out there playing!
  4. Lack of prep time - not to mention COVID protocols and who could/could not be available to a team in a given week - will make for a hard to predict season. People on here will get "giddy" with all the upsets, but the truth of the matter is teams could be down/without several key players in a given week or 2, then have them back later. That is - if proper protocols are being followed 🤔
  5. And will still be one of the favorites to win vaunted Sectional 31 🙄🙄
  6. SO ...New Pal cancels week 1 game, but everything will be ready to rock/roll in week 2?? Good thing the virus will be contained by that point (tongue-in-cheek) Seriously though - is it basically just the schools up in Northern Indiana that have pulled the plug on the season?? I can't keep it straight right now....some Indy schools have cancelled week 1 and 2 games? Warren Central has?? I guess I just don't understand, if you have enough players, cancelling one week but turning right back around and being able to play the next?? Are you cancelling because "key" players are out?? And if that's the case ...shame shame.
  7. Darn straight- if schools can be in session, then athletics should be played. Simple as that. (No idea what the Big Ten was thinking??! How on earth can you justify 30k on a college campus, living in dorms, communal bathrooms, frat parties- but yet won’t let 22 guys on a football field?) We ain’t afraid of no Rona down here in Southern Indiana!
  8. Did the EVSC push back its school start date because of COVID concerns? I thought most/all of Southern Indiana was in session at this point?
  9. Are all these Northern Indiana teams?? What in the world is going on up there??
  10. But I don’t really wanna try and comb through all the pages to find out. Can someone supply a list of schools that have postponed their fall sports as of now? And until when?? Maybe im not paying attention enough- but it seems they are all Northern Indiana schools? What’s the deal up there? I apologize for my ignorance - but seriously down here in Southern Indiana it’ seems all systems go.
  11. I’ve never heard that word used until this recent pandemic. I see someone is a fan of a certain sports radio personality!
  12. If I’m not mistaken- I believe the Red Devils of Owensboro run more of an option attack similar to what TC has employed the last couple of years. Probably a big factor in the hiring process I assume. Believe it’s Owensboro Catholic that spreads it around
  13. 🤦‍♂️ (not for the choice of winner- that it was ever created in the first place)
  14. Ok ok so now I finally see the motivation behind this thread. You believe there should be a “sliding scale” so-to-speak in terms of teacher pay. And it should be correlated to what exactly?? I tend to agree that a classroom teacher hard at it with 6 classes a day has a lot more on their plate with planning, grading, data charts, etc than say a PE/Strength teacher- but how could you possibly justify a change in salary structure?? Ain’t happening
  15. Just don’t add up?? Are you accusing school districts of “fudging their books” in order to pay coaches?? That’s pretty serious accusations...I’d tred lightly throwing around that speak. And why so obsessed/jealous of how much another’s making ?? Do you feel it’s not fair? If you really feel strongly perhaps you should voice your concern with local school board/superintendent. Do I wish I could make more?? Sure...but I’m not gonna ever cut down someone for getting theirs...teachers are grossly UNDERPAID as a profession. Plain and simple
  16. I’m confused as to the purpose of this post?? Are you upset with the amount that Head Coaches get paid? Upset with the teacher pay scale in general??
  17. It is touching that you are so concerned about the health of the New Pal players and community. Good on ya... Ps...I have no idea what’s true/not true/why the article was even written in the first place. Any person with a brain would know it’s gonna bring up question marks??
  18. Akers go somewhere else?? Was he just at the helm one year??
  19. I'm sure your coaches appreciate it. As long as they don't receive any community/school board pressure to produce on the field, I'm sure they are fine with it too....
  20. Understand - but we're asking about Head FOOTBALL coaches. So you recognize that you may be putting your Coach and football program at a disadvantage? And you are OK with that/?
  21. Essentially the purpose/motivation behind this thread. Was interested in what was all out there for Head Coaches....
  22. Definitely think it's beneficial/advantageous having coaches within the school system - but I was asking about positions for HEAD coaches. I'm sure there is plenty of assistants that teach a number of subjects.
  23. Was just curious as to what else was out there. I think every HEAD coach in my conference (PAC) has a PE/Strength position or an administrative role. What are some "creative" positions that have been formed in the schools to fit a coach in?? Those sometimes make me chuckle ...
  24. Stealing this from another thread I was reading through...(below is copy/pasted response that got me thinking of this) Are most Head Football Coaches around the State PE and/or Strength teachers?? Or have "other administrative" roles within the school. Is being a "classroom teacher" and trying to be the head football coach a thing of the past?? Seems like with all the academic hoops/rigors to jump through, it may well be just that. Curious as to how many examples there are out there and other subjects, besides Strength/PE, they might teach. (And don't jump down my throat with all the PE is a class too....I understand that, but for the purpose of this discussion, I'm asking for maybe more academic rigorous courses.) "Most, not all, but most high school coaches teach as well as coach. What is reasonable for a school to ask for as a time commitment from their Head Coach? Couple hours a day for practice, then there is that flex time before and after so it ends up being more like 3 hours. Then they have their commute. With most of them teaching, they are likely to have some sort of lesson planning, test writing, grading time in their evening, then they have to make and eat dinner, practice planning for the next day, most will want to watch some film, some staff to staff text and phone calls throughout the evening. This is all before any parent or player issues are dealt with, youth league work is done, or any time is spent with family. That's not evening mentioning the weekend grind. Time with the varsity kids in film (which the coaches were up watching til 2 am the night before) and/or JV football on Saturday morning. Maybe you get to collapse on the couch for a little while Saturday afternoon but then back to the film. Sunday morning, film, church, lunch film, mow the lawn, change a light bulb, pay the bills, staff meeting in the evening, and getting ready to teach for the week, etc. Again, this is just in-season grind............lets not start on the off season. Seems like a lot to ask for the few thousand bucks that most coaches are paid at the HS level. Is their any "fix" to this crazy work-life mix that coaches face today? "
