  1. Correct- but if I’m not mistaken, he has an older brother on the NP team?? Wonder what that family dinner is like this week?!?
  2. Shoot man- before we got success factored up the last 3 years, Sectional 40 was an absolute meatgrinder. MD, SR, Linton...then you’d always have a NP or TC or someone having a great year. No time to relax ...one of the better 2A sectionals in the State for years and years. And I just gotta ask and I’m sorry if it’s a “taboo” subject....but what in the world do you do if you are the QB’s parents?!? The geographical nearness and so many family ties between the 2 schools has to increase the intensity of this game is imagine
  3. I got a strange feeling for tonight ...I'm thinking the Miners pull it out. For the record, while we were in 3A for about 5 of those years since 2007 that you mentioned... 07 and 08 were SR victories....so was 2013 ....2015&2016 were 3A years....17&18 were victories....and since 19 we've been up here trying our best in 3A Believe it's a 5-4 split in favor of the Raiders since the time you mentioned. Good luck tonight
  4. Maybe "subpar" was a little harsh - but when it comes to grass fields - HH and South Spencer's Bermuda grass fields are hard to beat. I did say that the Roy is a great atmosphere and place to play - but as far as the actual conditions of the field ...ehh, it's just ok for grass.
  5. Wait a minute ...if you continue it to the 2023 season, that would be 3 seasons of success factor?? This year 2021 Next 2022 This year we've already been bounced...and if we don't get enough points next year, I was of the understanding we'd go back to our original classification??
  6. Personally - I hate to see marquee games such as this one POSSIBLY be affected by poor conditions. The Roy is a great facility/place to play such a game - however the field is subpar at best - and will only get worse with the wet/muddy conditions. That said, both teams will have to deal with the conditions as they are. I'll ask again - if not this year for the Miners, then when?? I'll stop short of making a prediction as I don't know much about MD with our move up to 3A - but I know the Miners will be a tough out.
  7. I like to think of myself as fairly educated- I read this whole thread and still have no clue what is going on?!?! Last year, we won a sectional and regional so we were told we acquired enough points to stay in 3A for another 2 years (stupid) But at the end of this year- they are wiping the slate clean and just going by enrollment??
  8. Ahh a game at the Roy in Oct/November can only mean one thing...rain, rain, rain and grass about 6 inches high.
  9. Maybe that’s been your experience, but I think history has shown “that part of the State” can hold its own, all things considered. 2016- State Champ (Linton) 2017- State Champ (Southridge) 2018- State Champ (Memorial) 2019- State Representative (Heritage Hills) Last year we didn’t get anyone up there...but I’d be willing to bet you see some Southern flavor this year. And lastly- you’re just flat WRONG about GS.
  10. Ok I can say this now that we’ve been eliminated. Unless injuries or a miracle happens, 3A is Gibson Southern - then everyone else. I don’t see anyone staying within 2 TD’s all the way through .
  11. Leo still run the straight T?? If so, that’s a heckuva drive with under a minute to go to score and take the lead. Hope to see them in Lucas. Always entertaining to see a system that isn’t just zone left, zone right, RPO world. I’ll be rooting for them the rest of the way
  12. I guess we don’t exists in the rundown?? Lol...
  13. IF they pay to go to the school (i.e.) a private/parochial, that comes across a little differently to me. But you're right, I don't know of all the moving/shaking from year/year in the SIAC
  14. Whose brother just "happened" to end up playing for the Danville squad of 2020...along with a QB transfer from Avon .... Don't see a whole lot of that around these ......oh wait. Maybe that's just what it takes to compete with the Indy sprawl metro teams.
  15. Stupid Success Factor - we had been developing quite a rivalry with the mighty MD wildcats. MD fans don't like to hear it, but actually since the 2000s, we hold a slim 6-5 advantage in meetings when we've squared off. (Some of those years MD was in 3A, and others we were) In fact now that I think about it...has ANY other Sectional 40 team knocked them off ?? I'm sure going back to the 80s or 90s someone else has...but I don't think so in the 2000s?? Point being - if not this year for Linton, then when??
  16. Why do I believe I remember watching a semi-State at HH?? Think they lost to Tri-West?
  17. Pretty sure the 2019 sectional final was played on a grass field if my memory serves correctly....
  18. How in the world do you define "commonly??" We just played a Flexbone team that ONLY did the wingback scenario I described late in the game while trying to draw us offsides. Wasn't flagged - nor do I think it should have been. Is "commonly done" once a series? Once a quarter? Once a half?? I've seen teams ONLY use a "hard count" on short yardage situations...is that COMMONLY enough?? Poorly worded and unclear rule.
  19. - This is such a poorly defined/worded rule, I can see why officials would have trouble calling it. Isn't a QB going on a "hard count" clearly trying to cause the defense to encroach??? "Ready.....Set.....HUT, HUT" - By rule, that should be a flag??? Or how about Flexbone teams that regularly send their Wing in motion that "simulates the start of the play" ....only to have him stop and return to his spot?? These things are commonly allowed
  20. 100% - we get it Mr. X - some sectionals are loaded while others are not. We have that issue down here as well believe it or not (here's looking at you Sectional 30) ...but like 32 said, let's just fix the most simple one first.
  21. What about the fact of adding VALUE to a good regular season?? Shouldn't that at least mean SOMETHING?? "
  22. Last year when we won Regional, we were told that we would stay in 3A for the next 2 years due to the success factor. That is all I know. Southridge's history with the SF 2A State Champs 2017, 2A semi-State 2018 = SF up to 3A 2019 knocked out of sectionals by HH, 2020 win 3A sectional and regional = stay up in 3A for 2 more years. So, by my count, we now have students who weren't even in middle school that will be affected by this. I seriously don't get it...but whatever I guess.
  23. So according to your argument, just so I understand- the reluctance to seed sectionals is it really doesn’t matter if two 9-0 teams play week 1 of sectionals or for the championship?? While two 1-8 and 2-7 move on?? I’m sorry, but I just don’t agree with that logic that it doesn’t matter.
  24. Again - back to the topic at hand - can anyone explain WHY the reluctance to NOT seed the sectionals?? After 3 pages on this thread, I still don't see a valid argument??
