  1. I’d say only about 10% of HH’s offensive sets come out of the Bone. Most of the time- you’re gonna have a 2 Wing set...one in motion most every play. 90% run based offense...some big ol boys touting that rock, and one of the better athletes in Indiana running the controls at the QB position. (Reminds me so much of Winchell when he used to pull the ball out of the FB’s belly and take off)Although I’m not entirely certain if he is playing at 100%...but even still- his 80% is pretty damn good.
  2. Kind of a busch-league kind of thing for TC to do, in my opinion.
  3. Man- I can’t hardly decipher all this vocabulary coming from Eastern Indiana...you all speak a different language over there?!? What can the Patriots expect facing Lawrenceburg?? They still doing the ol Single Wing they were running when big Parris was there?? Sounds like they may have opened the offense up and have been running more Spread stuff?? Who is their one loss to??
  4. Didn’t realize a change had been made. Awesome and good luck moving forward.
  5. Is the game at WeBo?? If so, better hope for good weather throughout the week. Field can become an issue if any weather comes through
  6. Guys I’m not getting into this/that. HH won and proved they were the better team by beating us twice. The purpose of this thread was to ask genuinely about field playing conditions and people’s opinions about playing Championship type games in less than ideal field conditions. And yes- the field last night was less than ideal- was disappointed in the condition of Patriot field but it is what it is. I just personally don’t feel like like a Championship game should be played on a field that has less than ideal footing. That is all. Best of luck to the Patriots moving forward. Got a good team there in Spencer County.
  7. Just of my opinion that a CHAMPIONSHIP game shouldn't be played where footing/turf are questionable when adequate resources are available elsewhere...and no that doesn't just include at SR. It's just too bad. Yes we play an outdoor game so elements are part of it. I just personally don't like what I watched at Luers last year...it doesn't seem right to me. Most around the State have went the field turf route or at least sought out suitable replacements for playing and don't have to worry about it - some still do. To each their own.
  8. Been raining cats/dogs here in SW Indiana for the past 24 hours - too bad sectional championship match-ups have the possibility of being hampered by adverse field conditions- especially when adequate fields are readily available 😕
  9. To me the argument for neutral site games is more for the field conditions themselves. Some schools just shouldn't be hosting those games with so much on the line, plain and simple. The last thing anyone wants (or should want) is for the field/playing conditions/surface to be a factor in the game.
  10. I’m not saying that’s a bad idea- but no that wasn’t the purpose of this thread. I was genuinely curious as to how the process worked. And I’m still not entirely sure how it does from reading all these responses. I have let my feelings known -I think it’s a shame the deeper in the tournament to see a game played on adverse conditions (thinking Luers last year) when plenty of turf fields are available. Just my opinion
  11. So then what are the mechanics of this move taking place?? Do both schools have to agree or is it just the “host” team saying- “our field is crappy- let’s move it to ______” ?? What if the visiting team doesn’t want the game moved??
  12. Thanks for the info Bob. I think what most coaches need to realize is just cause it was tolerated by one crew one week- doesn’t mean it’s that way the next Friday. Like with many things in life- different crews have different personalities and it’s just the way it is. What really has bothered me is when different side-judges on the SAME CREW have a different interpretation of the rules! A couple times this year I’ve had a side judge be pretty strict with his sideline- no problem- that is his right. But then I look over and see the opposing coach darn near to the numbers on multiple occasions- and when I point it out that I just want a fair shake of the rules it’s just a “I’ll tell him” response- but ya know how that goes.
  13. Getting deeper into the tournament - and as the weather starts to turn- curious as to if anyone has ever “given up” their home-field advantage to play on a better surface?? I seem to remember Monrovia-Ritter Semi-State was moved a couple times to Plainfield because of the playing surface?? I also remember watching Luers slop of a field last year and remember thinking to myself “such a same a high quality game like this is limited by the conditions of the field” ...Sorry if this is an obvious topic- I just don’t recall very many examples of it happening.
  14. For the first time since we’ve started up our series together- I believe Linton actually has a legit and real shot to take home this sectional crown. Very impressed with their team. In my opinion- they’ll have to clear that “mental hurdle” of actually beating MD ...and that can be a challenge in-and-of itself. Just reading some of the Linton material on this thread- the Linton faithful make it sound like it’d be some sort of HUGE upset were they to win...and I’m not so sure. Linton has all the tools to get it done. The question is can they?? I think it will come down to a break here or a break there... On the other side- give me the Rangers winning a defensive battle 14-8.
  15. Hurling insults doesn't seem necessary. I was just making an observation to a comment. I wouldn't/shouldn't have said anything, the "NO DOUBT" part of the comment made me raise an eyebrow. It seems pretty obvious to me a team will be better in week 11 than week 1, you don't need to point that out) Sorry to interrupt the thread. I think it will be a good ball game.
  16. Was just referencing a comment earlier that MD will "no doubt be the toughest test" the Miners have faced all year. I wasn't mis-representing anything. Thought it was a slap-in-the-face to my beloved Raiders ...that is all. Back in my hole I'll climb.
  17. Very well could be. Linton has all the pieces in place this year to give MD a run-for-their money. But what do I know, we're no where near MD's ability according to some on this thread. Good luck to both, should be a whale of a ball game.
  18. Not going to get into this pissing match. What an asinine statement. You do what works well for you and your program. Not entirely sure but last I checked- SR has held up pretty well against MD- which in most years carries itself pretty well in the SIAC. Move on troll- nothing to see here.
  19. Holy smokes- did I just agree with what DT wrote?? Well, guess there is a first for everything! Spot on in this post...good work.
  20. That’s the problem with trying to gain any traction with the seeding discussion- you “qualification” nuts (ie Bobref) always try and make it about that. Lets start with making what we have better- and that’s seeding the sectionals. And it’s really pretty simple
  21. Funny as a wrestling coach we figure out how to SEED a SECTIONAL and I’m pretty sure that is IHSAA sanctioned. The fact the IHSAA won’t seed football sectionals is pure LAZINESS. A criteria could be set, just as it is in wrestling, and it would get accomplished and guess what?? It would be a helluva lot better than we have now. Would at least give SOME meaning to a good regular season.
  22. Say it ain't so....say it ain't so. Even the "old guard" is turning to the new age.
  23. He still running the wishbone, or has he caved to the times and running Spread Power O??
