Not if you go by the "effective enrollment" so eloquently coined by our friend 32! And technically...we are still up by SF standards from our sectional championships in 2020 & 2022 Back to the game at hand on Friday ...everyone relatively healthy?? Any big factors to note going into the game??

May be an unpopular opinion - but I for one am fine with the sectional classifications. I think it is beyond awesome this game is taking place as a semi-state match-up rather than a first or second round sectional game.

Another week - and more championships represented by the "best small school conference in the STATE!" I know things are cyclical in nature, but proud to have 3 PAC teams represented in the upcoming semi-states. A job well done by the Titans, Patriots, and Vikings. Hopefully the IHSAA will continue to spread out these teams so we don't all devour each other in the same sectionals. Best of luck on your preparations this week. The Jungle will be rocking on Friday.

Got it- thank you. I won’t disagree that that seemed to be a key moment in the game In close games- everything is magnified-HH has definitely been on the correct side of some 50/50 calls this postseason…but hey- that’s the way it goes!

Was watching a little bit of the Warren/CG game last night that was tight throughout- and it got me thinking… What are some of the biggest “upsets” that have taken place in the IHSAA football tournament?? I know we rarely have the #1 ranked team win in all classes so technically you could say they happen every year- but I’m talking “super teams” everyone just assumed were going to walk thru the tourney?? I fancy myself a historian somewhat of high school football and really- I couldn’t come up with many. The Zachary teams that everyone thought would dominate did…Anthrops LCC teams did, Kisner Pioneer teams- same. Warren Central with Tardy…yup. Banks with Ben Davis, they won it. Heck even as far back as Grossman with BS.

What was the call on the big 3rd down sack deep in Patriot territory that would have given Batesville a 4th and long ?? Couldn’t tell from the livestream??

I think I was the first to reply to this thread and said the exact same thing. In the "recruiting" world - I actually understand that P/P HAVE to do that in some regards ...their schools literally would not exists if they didn't "sell" their schools. However, publics going after other athletes from other publics - to me - that is just flat wrong. Coaches doing so would be Harbaugh-like stupid ...there are plenty of parents out there willing to do the dirty work. We're not allowed to talk about a certain State Championship and how "key pieces" just happened to fall into a certain programs lap conveniently/coincidentally. Bottom line, until the IHSAA really wants to take a hardline stance (which they won't) - it will still go on. Get better or get used to it.

At least they are open and honest -They HAVE to recruit, or their school won't exist. Public's who call and poach top athletes from other schools, that is just public on public crime. I'm still from the old school of "Play with who ya got and who grew up in your school system" ....some don't feel/think that way.

SO...the way I'm reading this - in Batesville's "glory years" of 5 straight sectional championships (where in heck was L-Burg in those days??) - they couldn't get past the mighty Patriots?? (who were a freaking machine back in those days) That was a long time ago I get it - but 0-5 is 0-5. Don't see that changing this week - this Patriot D is TOUGH and they'll do just enough on Offense to pull it out. Give me Pats by 10

Word on the street is TC is batting some key injuries at some key spots?? Not a good recipe for playing this Vikings squad.

Just want to give a public congrats to our 3 sectional champs from the PAC and best of luck to all in a deep postseason run. While tasting defeat is something I’ll never be good at- we (SR) can at least take solace into the fact the 3 teams we lost to this year are all still playing. Go represent the conference and win Regionals so hopefully we can have some local semi-state games!

Didn’t Jasper run the table in their first year in the SIAC only to get knocked off in Sectionals?? Maybe it’s the curse of undefeated SIAC champs?? I know we did it one year to MD…believe it was 2013 maybe?

I've seen a lot of Paoli picks on here , and understandably - they did win your conference. BUT, and it's probably just my PAC bias here - but I've been on this NP team since we played them in week 8. They are legit. Big, strong, fast. I would be shocked if they dropped this one to Paoli. (Paoli lost to Boonville.....we (SR) handled Boonville...and NP got us this year by a TD) - best of luck to both teams tonight.

Excuse my ignorance - and appreciate the informative post Titan32 - but can someone break it down simply for my technological ignorant brain ? What do I need to do in order to be able to watch the State Finals on my TV? (I understand I can watch it from my computer browser via IHSAATV.org) If I have a smart-TV, is it as simple as accessing the web browser thru my TV and just doing it that way??

Not that it is worth anything - I don't have anything else left to do but take interest in local games - but I don't see this one being particularly close. Unless the QB from VL puts on his superman cape, I think GS rolls in this one by at least 2 scores.

I imagine any hope that VL would have in this game is hinged on the health of QB1. I know he has played the last couple weeks, but is he fully healthy and moving about like normal?

Haha...this was a pretty good one. Kinda stinks for North Posey in that regard - biggest win in program history, and it's a little tarnished by too many men on the last play. I gotta ask though...didn't MD have North Posey in a 4th and long situation with like a minute to go and gave up a TD??? What the heck happened?
