Some very good players were sidelined on BOTH sides....public school football, challenging demographics- can make a few key losses tough to overcome.

Not many SR posters anymore on here - so to give some context. Our (SR) last losing season was 2005...it goes without saying - but we're staring down the barrel of that gun right now. Myriad of variables (that no one outside of the program cares about) so no need to go into them. It's not a stretch to say we should/could be sitting at 3-0, but we're not, so "we are what our record says we are" One thing I will say is the growing enrollment numbers without actual participation numbers going up has been a challenge...and anyone who has spent anytime around knows what I'm talking about. We have people who come in and say "I had NO IDEA" ...we are essentially playing a 3A tournament with a 1A student pool. Not excusing anything - but its the reality.

You take care of your conference first (if the schools want to play and there is a reason) - I'm surprised HH didn't pick up Jasper in their Apollo slot?? That seemed like a no-brainer to me.

OK, reading "between the lines" to this story - LCC asked for a "running clock" - the opposing coach say no thanks - so then LCC Coach said "Ok then, watch this" - but then used the "quarters rule" to cover his tracks. Got it.

Obviously this is referenced MANY times on the GID....and I get the jist of it - but, for those of us unaware - can anyone provide the details/backstory to the game?? Surely there had to be more to the story ??

" Oxygen and intravenous fluid use in contests prohibited Neidig submitted this proposal on behalf of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. This proposal would allow IV fluids to be administered only in emergency situations to prevent or treat cardiovascular collapse, severe heat-induced illness, severe hypertension and shock, or other life-threatening conditions that would benefit from intravascular fluid treatment. Can't believe this didn't get more attention.... -
What's a homefield advantage worth?

I have long took the stance that I hate seeing field conditions play a "role/factor" in the outcome of a game. Weather (whether it is raining/snowing/wind etc...)obviously you can't control that - BUT, field conditions can be and the fact that we still allow championship level contest (sectional finals, regional, semi-state) to be played in mud bowls is beyond me...and in my opinion, really a shame. -
We're (SR) not in the small school division in football anymore. Just FYI

OK so I'm confused...he released a statement saying he was going to allow/promote political discussion....but then backtracked??

I refuse to "follow" the page on FB as a matter of principal - so maybe I can't see everything (not sure how that works?) - I tried a quick scroll through and I didn't see anything alarming?? What am I missing??

I’m so far from understanding all the intricacies of what took place- but he seems to have an axe to grind with the GID-? Even calling it out by name

From reading the article - he/it also insinuated that his "new position" was also adding more responsibilities?? Did he recently take some Admin role within the school?? Perhaps this is why we see so many schools having their head coaches not have many responsibilities in the classroom or in the school? -
BINGO! And again, I just don't quite understand the vitriol and attack on public education schools. I get the fact the Right generally doesn't like Labor Unions, and the Teachers Union is one of the biggest in America - but is that a reason to wage war on the whole Public School system?? Like - doesn't the Right realize teachers in the teachers Union teach in private schools as well?? I honestly don't understand why they (the Right) hate public schools so much - and that was actually the intention of my original post was for someone to explain to me the decades long attack on public schools....but all I got was smart-a@# responses like "it sucks" Well ok then...

If you can do better, then I'd encourage you to join the fight. While not all are in it for the right reasons, I applaud anyone willing to run a classroom full of kiddos/teenagers and tries to have a positive influence in their lives. You want to live in a "bottom line"/data driven/results world - then fine. But there is so much more to it than that. I have students that, where they come from, you should be proud they even make it to school. But, keep beating that Public School sucks drum - we appreciate it.

Wow...sounds like looking in a mirror. Except for the last part, I have not noticed that around here (yet). -

Curious, not being from the area - Seymour's enrollment had trended upward in the last five/six years, whereas Brownstown has been the opposite?? Being county neighbors, why the 2 different directions??
