What great matchups those middle divisions made in those days. Hearns, Hagler, Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran. Awesome fights.

Duneland athletic conference week 1
Bobref replied to Piratefan101's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I’ve seen a number of Indy area teams in the past few seasons, as well as those from other areas of the state. I’m not ready to say the coaching is “better,” because there are so many things that go into that. I don’t see how the players develop. I’m not in their weight rooms or at their summer programs. In-game situations are hard to evaluate because they are so random. What I do see, however, is that teams from Indy and the collar counties have a different “look” about them. Their pregame warmup is crisp and organized. Their sidelines are managed very efficiently during games. They don’t commit stupid or careless penalties. They don’t line up in the wrong place. They play great situational football. They just seem better organized and disciplined. Their play reflects that. Whether that falls under the heading of “better coaching,” than so be it. -
Post officiating-related issues here. Questions. Observations. Even Complaints, provided they are made in a sportsmanlike manner and contain enough factual detail to allow comment. Otherwise, they will be hooted down. I’m particularly interested to hear observations about implementation of the new intentional grounding rule.

I find it interesting that this was done via settlement, and not a ruling on the appeal. But the really interesting question is whether the Browns stand pat at QB, or go after Jimmy G. as an 11 game rental.

2022 Duneland Athletic Conference Thread (DAC)

Back to football. I’ll be at the Burial Ground Friday evening, and will report my observations about the 2022 edition of the Indians. Understand things got a little interesting during their scrimmage with Andrean last week, and LC had to say a few Hail Marys and Our Fathers to the IHSAA. Anyone know what happened? -
Even in the world of big time pro sports, that whack job was an outlier. I wouldn’t consider him representative.

Push for neutral sites

Even if that were true - it demonstrably isn’t - that’s like saying “Aside from that, Mrs.Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?” -

Unwise. -
This is, essentially, state-sponsored kidnapping.

Bad luck for the Tanona kid from Zionsville. Forced to medically retire from football as a result of a car accident in the off season. https://www.si.com/college/notredame/football/notre-dame-football-ol-joey-tanona-has-medically-retired-from-football

Roe -V- Wade......Back at it again (finally?)

Very interesting. Indiana legislators, take note. Kansas was a solid “red” state in the 2020 elections. -
Did the NFL “pull its punches” in [not] producing evidence at the hearing? Seems to me they ended up pretty well off compared to the potential downside. One of their franchise players will be back on the field for 2/3 of the season. And the league came out of it appearing to press for more severe punishment, and with a convenient fall guy in the person of the arbitrator.

Push for neutral sites
Bobref replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Every year as we get past the sectional, people moan and groan about driving distances for the regionals and semistates. Neutral sites can cut those driving distances in half, in addition to providing better venues. It’s disappointing when two really good teams play a high stakes game at a subpar facility. -
From the IHSAA 2021-22 Fall Bulletin: Balls – Sectional – Each school is encouraged to use an official Wilson football (models 1003 GST, 1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark). Regionals & Semi-States– Schools must use an official Wilson football as described above. The IHSAA will supply two (2) Wilson 1003 GST footballs. If either team desires to use another official Wilson ball (1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark), they may do so, provided they furnish the ball. The IHSAA will supply all game balls at Lucas Oil Stadium. State Finals - IHSAA will provide all game balls. No school footballs will be used during State Finals games.
-
The rules provide: “Each team shall provide at least one legal ball to the referee at the time the game officials assume authority for the contest. Only legal balls approved by the referee may be used during the contest. Each team may use any referee-approved ball of its choice to free kick or start a new series of downs.” If both teams show up with non-Wilson balls, we play the game and write it up to the IHSAA. But if one team has Wilson and the other does not, we’re playing with the Wilson footballs. Once a ball is approved by the referee, it becomes a game ball, not a team ball. The team loses any right to determine how and when the ball is used.

$$$$$. Why do you think the IHSAA mandates the use of the Wilson ball in the tournament?

Hopefully, you’ll grow out of it. 🤣😂

House Democrats Revive Their Court-Packing Push

Nominating and confirming Justices for vacant seats according to their perceived philosophical bent is vastly different from increasing the number of vacant seats for no reason other than creating a new majority. -
